The most objectionable passages of the bible of course come from the O.T. That's why most Christians try not think of the O.T. except for the parts they want accept (such as the 10 commandments) and a few others as long as they can spin them into something positive.
When a verse is brought up that is so despicable they can't spin it---they will often go to a clergy or apologist who can and then report back with this spin job as the "gospel truth only a true Christian can understand".

We choose to not kill and harm and steal because we know they are wrong for a society to work properly. We don't need a God to tell us right from wrong, and because we are not questioning weather or not telling Grandma we like the tie she got us for christmas should be prayed about and forgiven. We are also happier people, we go about our moral lives not worrying about what we are lacking....I am full happy and doing great.

When your read just those parts it seems God is a pretty ok guy. Not perfect but decent enough. Then I saw an Archaeologist show on Egypt and it turns out there is no sign of moses any where in the whole history of the world anywhere, then I studied more and found most of the bible false just by lack of any historical data. How is the story of the God of the bible any more believable then the story's of Odin and Thor or RA and Iris, or Zeus and Apollo. But after deciding to take the fruit and to choose to govern themselves and to rebel against God, they are imperfect. Humans were created to be servants of God, and when they no longer fulfill what they were meant to do, they are no longer perfect. And two imperfect things cannot breed and create perfection. @theknowbeing thou shal not kill is in hebrew form, translated in english to thou shall not kill without cause. in the bible god kills people with good cause, so NOT violating his rule. Healso says its ok to kill for the greater good if you have to. like the terrorist situation i said. in the bible god kills people who had continued to plot evil, he killed no innocent. the bible line u used is a metaphorical expression meaning that if u live your life a certain way it will change your destiny.

Christians are always claiming atheists are too prideful and conceited to believe in God. They tell us to humble ourselves - all the while saying they believe they are the chosen of God, the reason the entire universe exists, etc.
Humble yourself and look at the universe for what it is. Realize your place is so small -- maybe then you'll get off your bowed knee and stop worrying about the whim of an invisible man.

How is the desire for eternal life in Paradise, free of pain and want, in the presence of the Creator of All Things not a desire to be a god?
I suppose one could argue that Heavenly existence isn't being a god but it one hell of a promotion and far far beyond anything atheists can be accused of lusting for.

The pattern I see is that all the books were written by men...fallable men. The theme is simple the old testament is an eye for an eye. Christianity was God showing that David and all those who did and then recorded these thing were wrong...had they been right and just...there would be know need for Christ.

As if the decisions you make as a husband and as a father do not affect your child or your household. The decisions of our original parents affected us in a major way. Why don't you ask how God gave us another chance with Noah? How about when God found favor in Noah not his sons; but his sons benefited off that favor! You hate God but you seek God through His people. You will find that Christians are not going to have the answers you seek.

Also consider Adam,Seth,Noah,Abaham,Issac,Jacob ,Moses Joshua,David and then Joseph we see the pattern of how a Man stands up and many are blessed by his obedience.
Jesus obeyed unto Death so we can be made alive ,of course as a Mormon you were taught you were going to be a god so I understand your disappointment when you found out the Book of Mormon wasn't what you thought it was.
