  • Actually it was priced at $ 6.500,00!

  • Watching this on iPhone :)

  • steve, did you know that you are going to create one of the world's best animation company? did you know that you've inspired many tech geeks to start a youtube channel, doing something they absolutely love? did you know that you will inspire/ create the best phones in the market??

    THANK YOU FOR EXISTING!

  • 2 billion lol.

  • $3,000 in 1987 for a computer. Thank god for China

  • love old Jobs' videos :)

  • 12:11 "Well I can't change the world"- Steve Jobs

I think he proved himself wrong on that one :P

  • it goes in hd if u press 3 5 times and like this comment cause bit./dfifhdnow/tubegfmb.com

  • Tim Berner-Lee got his hands on one of these machines and the world wide web was born.

  • nah... tech geeks just inspired people to pretend that they were were tech geeks... hipsters

  • This video is quite a gem. Steve's obsession with the design of the NeXT logo was extreme. This also seems like one of the earliest appearances of the famous black turtleneck.

  • he is gorgeous!!

  • I love how dated this is haha!

  • 10:57 "whatever, bitch"

  • Black turtleneck under shirt, hehe

  • Like this comment if you found this while reading #Steve's biography

  • Steve: I think we got a really great window of opportunity. Its amazing how far we have come in 90 days :D

    *few seconds later*

Steve: I forgot how much work it is to start a company. Its a lot of work :|

  • maemo for life!

  • 17 ppl using Microsoft and android

  • 12:37 "and thank GOD we've been given it, nobody else has done this"

  • Is Jobs the only one sitting on the floor? That's interesting given everyone believes he's a tyrant. No I'm probably one of those people. However, this seemed to be an act of humbleness (and hippiness).

  • He stole from Xerox, ripped off various others yet is the poster boy you all you morons who don't know anything about Computer Science.. brilliant.

  • @DanielSeanG "Waaah! Steve Jobs outsmarted people and brought affordable, intuitive technology to the masses in ways that his competitors couldn't imagine. Boo hoo! It was so unfair!"

Xerox went to market years before Mac, which lost to MS. Jobs then forged the modern workstation @ NeXT. Both withered on the vine until he merged Mac's affordability & NeXT's power.

MP3 players, phones, tablets - each a tech pre-dating Apple's entry by years, but Apple did it simpler and better.

  • @ferriswiel Apple are simply overpriced versions of those models you mentioned, he moans about Bill Gates but his business would not of functioned without investment from Microsoft - But I guess you're one of the mindless majority who has no grasp on technology and just likes nice expensive shiny things.

  • @DanielSeanG typical microsoft fanboys lmao

  • @54321thedeathbed What are you on about I don't even like Microsoft, I'm simply saying he's a rip off, and apple fanboys are the biggest morons in the world, most expensive and shit products going.

  • @DanielSeanG just go put your shirt on and talk to me

  • @54321thedeathbed I don't wanna talk to someone who checks out other guys photos on youtube.. you just sitting there fapping to your idol

  • @DanielSeanG i dont listen to people with tatoos

  • @54321thedeathbed Lol checking me out again? Silly boy you know nothing, I earn more and know more than you ever will about technology you silly demented fanboy.

  • @DanielSeanG are you serius what a loser lmao

  • @54321thedeathbed Speak proper English you illiterate benefit fiend.

  • @DanielSeanG are you gay? lmao if so, stop

  • @54321thedeathbed You wish, dumb inbred, stop sponging off the goverment, go back to school and learn how to speak and then maybe you'll stop being a typical mindless thick fanboy.

  • @DanielSeanG do you even know me? stop speaking for me.

  • @ferriswiel your right, but some people have no IQ running around in their minds.

  • @DanielSeanG Xerox never produced a PC. In fact, they thought it was impossible to build a pc with a GUI interface, the lowest cost machine they could build was in the $100k price range. Also, Apple invented the modern mouse, one to last a year with a warranty. The Xerox mouse would fall apart in six days of usage because it was only a prototype. Thanks to Steve Jobs, the pc has a GUI today.

  • I'm an android fanboy,I'm only 1/3 through Job's' bio but it's already sent me on a youtube hunt for all his videos. Raw footage like this has been one of the best insights and greatly puts into context the mannerisms and cognitions written about Steve in the book. I feel like I personally know the original mac team! I used to hate Apple up until a few days ago but I have a newfound respect for Jobs and think I would have been equally as mesmerised if he headed Microsoft or any other company.

  • @mmarsbarr , my thoughts exactly !

  • This is an Entrepreneurship Course. Focus on what he is doing... nothing has changed!

  • Guy at bottom left @ 4:33 was the original inspiration for Napoleon Dynamite!

  • Around 11:00, great part. This man was a genius no doubt! And this comming from an android and Google fanboy. [but if I may, I must say that speaking of geeks, dmr (Dannis Ritchie, of Unix and C fame) was far greater geek, and was worthy of equal if not greater eulogy], still, Jobs was something.

  • interesting, everyone says Jobs was such a tyrant. However, after watching this video it seems clear to me that he is fine with dissent, and he allows employees to voice objections to his plans very forcefully. Thats true leadership.

  • thumbs up if u ar seeing this aftr reading the book

  • NeXT, the machine used to create the World Wide Web.

Even Jobs didn't know this machine would be be used for that purpose by Tim Lee.

    This video is historic.

  • The WORLDWIDE WEB was created using the NeXT computer.

Here is a quote from Tim Berners-Lee, creator of the WEB:

"The first web browser...Nexus...I wrote using a NeXT computer. This had the advantage that there were some great tools available -it was a great computing environment in general. In fact, I could do in a couple of months what would take more like a year on other platforms, because on the NeXT, a lot of it was done for me already."

Google: "the first web client" (no quotes)

  • @JudgeGrif Tim Berners-Lee was also inspired to create the web by Apple's Hypercard. Imagine if Steve was never born - no Apple (so no Hypercard) and no NeXT and nothing to inspire Microsoft to build Windows. No world wide web in 1991 for sure. Maybe in 2001 it might have happened, or later, we'll never know, but because of SJ we got it as early as we did.

  • oh, the dharma orientation movie!

  • Steve Jobs Changed The World ..... i Thank You!

  • gone dude, gone, thank god

  • Fascinating to watch this from a development point of view, particularly since the NeXT cube didn't really start shipping until 1989. Things always take longer. On the other hand, the NeXTstep OS is the direct ancestor of Mac OS X, so it's had a long, successful life and is still going strong.

  • HISSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • 6:07 Who let Napoleon Dynamite in?

  • Jon Rubinstein is in the house...

  • god what a megalomaniac.

honestly I hate people like jobs, talks so much and says so little.

  • @xBDBx

Sounds like a personality problem on your end...

He must've said some things right if he changed how we interact with devices and created the world's most valuable company.

  • Where are the other parts of this documentary?

  • Tech geeks are the original hipsters.

  • VHS for the win.

  • Oh man, better get that coffeemaker.

  • Their clothes look awesome.

  • Bill Gates and the Google Founders disliked this

  • Comment removed

  • Will Ferrell at 10:00

  • @Rydo182 man, you're right!

  • I wonder where those books with the NeXT logo's in are now...worth a fucking fortune!

  • 12:10 Steve Jobs said "I can't change the world". WRONG.

  • lol steve jobs moaning about the price of computers

  • "I just wanted to put a 'ding' in the Universe' -Steve Jobs

    He certainly did!

  • Do you have the remainder of this show? I'd like to hear about Mitch Kapor and Lotus, too.

  • Not bad the Merrill Linch Ad before the show…

  • @albianda They were an underwriter since this is PBS after all.

  • 3 people work for Microsoft.

  • @shewolfen1 I thought his ABC, IBM, UPS, and Enron logos all looked good. The Next logo always felt thrown together, and unpolished to me... but i guess that's just my opinion.

  • Anyone else think the Next logo didn't look very good?

  • Genius

  • He's so Handsome

  • shewolfen1 is white trash. Lay off the caps.

  • Bill Gates V2.0? @06:04

  • Paul Rand! Yes!

  • @shewolfen1 Hey, dipshit, yes you, there's a caps lock key. Maybe you should learn how to turn that off. Macs and PCs both have their place. What you call "class" is a subjective point of view, and a device you think is classy may not be to someone else. If you are blind to that fact, and refuse to appreciate that cheaper computers are necessary for broader access to productivity software and internet access, then you are a pompous moron. Have a great day! :)

  • @shewolfen1 Saying you don't want to run a company to make money is what everyone says -_-

  • @mnagmobile1 i think u need 2 get a life........asshole....

  • this man is my source of inspiration.

  • I don't understand what he's trying to do with NeXT isnt what he did with Apple. Making more powerful systems with a budget price?? Apple dominates as casual systems with overly high prices.

  • @shewolfen1 wrong there pc that cost more than macs such has alienware and boxx techlogy fucking clown

  • @shewolfen1 brand doesn't matter dude, specs are what rule.

  • Great leader? Why use NeXT as the example? It was a total failure. They failed to account for their competition, like Sun Microsystems and Silicon Graphics at the time.

  • @Nomoreidsleft - I disagree. It was ahead of its time. Incorporating it into the modern day Mac made it a success, and a success that is still growing.

  • Really great young talent who Jobs is!

  • john sculley disliked the video!

  • Comment removed

  • jobs is handsome than I thought

  • God if only i was in this room !!!

  • Wtf a perfect leader

  • I love Steve - but I also think seeing Paul Rand is just as cool in this video.

  • Is there a second part?

  • I like the atmosphere of openness and crique. That is cool! No shit, no political games.

  • an error occurred please try again later :(

  • Thanks for sharing!

  • DetroitBORG sent me here.

  • Bill Gates disliked the video O_o

  • no,is john sculley.He fired steve job.

  • @Muath3 Bill Gates operating system runs on 95% of computers in the world so he's pretty happy.

  • @gpmoo7 You obviously are not counting web servers or web connected phones.

  • Comment removed

  • @gcaptain5 why 1.6 billion devices running windows isn't enough

  • @gpmoo7 It's not that high anymore. Maybe even in the high 80s now. But desktops are becoming dinosaurs in this age. Mobile devices is where it's at and where it's going, so that's what matters. And that's where Apple completely dominates.

  • @jaggedspikerespawn Bullshit. People are always going to need desktops, for a whole range of applications - be that gaming (not one of Apples strong points, btw), be that job-related work... desktops are NOT 'dinosaurs'.

  • @1pa2ch You're right. I never said they'll go away. I study CS. I know I'll be using one for a very long time but for the average user they will eventually not need one. Desktops will probably be used for software development, research ect..

  • @jaggedspikerespawn In short, they'll be needed for everyone doing real work... :D Yeah, of course, a lot of people really don't need more than a smartphone and perhaps a netbook or something like that. But for real productivity in a 'static' environment (and for gaming...^^), a desktop is unbeatable. With laptops, you end up getting external displays, external keyboards, external everything for home use anyway. And you can't really upgrade them.

  • @1pa2ch Avid PC gamer here, and laptops I think are bad for gaming. They don't have the battery life, thus end up being a small desktop, just go with a PC to begin with lol. But yeah agreed,

  • @jaggedspikerespawn That's what I meant. For real gaming, I need a beast, not a hamster. :D

And as I said, you can't really upgrade laptops, which is really bad for gaming people. After all, you might want to upgrade your PC step by step. With laptops, you can basically put in more RAM, and that's it.

  • 6:08 NAPOLEON DYNAMITE!!

  • @theminimalisto hahahahahahaaahhaaha

  • I can't help but a get a kick out of steve jobs using transparencies and an overhead projector. Even then his presentation style is recognizable.

  • @DetroitBORG i totally agree. btw u brought me to this vid :D

  • @MrZeJohn Ha, awesome! :)

  • Awesome video. Awesome.

    RIP Steve.

  • Excellent video.

  • Biography, Steve Jobs "evil" and "arrogant" and then we see videos like this where people from Apple even followed him to build nExt...did i miss something?

  • Thanks so much for sharing it just goes to show how much happens behind the makings of a great organisation, no consultants real people working out how to solve a real problem with a leader who did not know he was going to change the world, they had faith and belief that they had to do something and a vision created on a whiteboard

  • I wish meetings were this casual now...11:43

  • So where's the arrogant Steve everyone is talking about from the biography?

  • @CometLol probably in the next 20 years from this video

  • 

  • go old , overheads, 14:30, pre-power point'ism.......those were the days

  • RIP Merrill Lynch.

  • You see the way Jobs handles all his employees and it simply doesn't square up with the overly negative portrayal in Isaacsons biography.

  • this video was epic win the moment the tracking fucked up at 0:01

  • If they only had a projector instead of an overhead...

  • 

  • ♥ this. What a treasure to see this footage, seriously. Thank you!

  • Amazing to see him work in this environment.

  • @coreytollefson I particularly liked the part where he pulls the carrot out of the ground. Steve at his best!

  • Thanks for sharing! Can you upload the Mitch Kapor segment that was beginning at the end?

  • And this was right after he was booted from Apple. Proof positive it is all about belief.

  • I'm currently reading the biography. This is really cool!

  • 12:22 "Well, George, I can't change world, you know?" Poor Jobs, how little did he know.

  • @faw217 He damn did it, huh? Genius.

  • @faw217 those people who say they are weak , are strong . and those who are strong , will yet to experience.
