.Frankly, my proposed experiment would probably be somewhat inaccurate. Why? Because the hypothetical student would not be burdened with the problems that Milwaukee youth are. They would not have to walk to school through horribly unsafe neighborhoods. They will never come home from a party only to find that their entire street is barricaded because a man was shot to death.
We expect MPS kids to come further while giving them as little as possible. And we condemn them when they can't.
For those who would say that students of color have no disadvantage they do not create themselves, I challenge you to send your kid to a Milwaukee public high school, and I don't mean Rufus King, I mean Bay View or Vincent. Let them go there and deal with the problems that have plagued MPS for decades. Then look me in the eye and tell me the disparity is all because the kids don't work hard enough.
This kind of discrimination is what I was afraid would happen after I left the rotunda last winter. First unions, and now minorities; Walker's ability to disgust my moral sensibilities knows no bounds.
I am more ashamed of the Wisconsin State Assembly and its resident Republican jackasses than I have been in a while.
And then the GOP State Senators that will shamefully approve this if it passes the State Assembly will have the gall to wonder why they were recalled. This kind of bullshit is the reason why.
It is really, really hard to read about the ridiculous things that have been occupying Gov. Walker's "laser-focussed" special legislative session on jobs. Not a job-related proposal in it, unless you count the one that proposes allowing public workers collective bargaining rights only as concerns reductions in benefits. (Fat lot of good that will do.) While the legislature stays up tonight pontificating on traffic violations and scary, scary minorities at the University, I'm going to sleep.

I'd like to pre-empt some arguments here:
