thank you so much for posting this--although this was one of the assigned film I am supposed to watch before my study abroad trip to Chile, it made me realize the corruption of governments in Chile and in the USA. Sometimes, the government doesn't have compassion for people, like they are supposed to. Why let an innocent man die and pretend like nothing happened? Even though terrible things happened in Chile, it's more corrupt that people in the US and abroad were just sitting there watching it.

I wonder if RidemyBMW watched until the end and heard the Jack Lemmon line about living in a country that puts people who kill others into prison. We then learn from Jack Lemmon in the closing lines of the movie that we don't live in a country that puts people behind bars for murder.

Although brilliant movie , it both angered and saddened me on so many levels regarding our American Government and the corruptness , same with the movie -Friendly Fire- (also true story) .

I have such admiration for Charles Horman for standing up in what he believed in ,against such obstacles and danger in the foreign country .

Also shocked and dismayed at The Academy members not acknowledging Costa Gavras superb directing with a nomination .. Shame on them !!!

Are you stupid? His lawsuit was DISMISSED. All people involved in this genocide has been prosecuted and jailed in Chile including Pinochet, not a single person has been prosecuted in the states, in fact Horman's murder is still open because a chilenean court has not quit on chasing his murderes. Pinochet and Nixon both shaked bloody hands on this coup, Pinochet died on house arrest while Nixon was buried with honors. That pretty much says what kind of legal system you have there, moron!
