In Singapore, it is all about MERIT. The government defines its economy as a MERITOCRACY. Not Democracy necessarily but meriticracy. Everyone is given a chance. English is used extensively in business, education and administration. I never implied Britain still ruled over India, on the contrary, im implying that the empire was necessary for India to prosper on it's own.
Yet, the fact that Indians are still relatively close to British culture hardly suggest that they want to throw off there colonial past as quickly as you suggest.

Because Indians were not given eqaul rights under the foot of the Mughal Empire because they were considered Kafir which in Islam means "unbeliever" and there are many verses in the Quran where it says its ok to kill unbelievers.
