In real life, Meesh the translator was a huge fat Kuwaiti pothead who spoke in the same way as he does on here. He was employed through the CIA and admitted to the Marines that he had a script he had been ordered to say ("we are happy to be liberated etc.) He hated Iraqis and used to get them to give him alcohol, cigarettes, food etc. when he talked to them.

Read Generation Kill by Evan Wright! It's an incredible book and gives a lot more insight into events.

@jonny616 I have yet to read Evan Wright's version, only watched the series which was based off his book. It definitely has a different point of view from the series on some of the fire fights and the inner relations of 1/1. If anything it's worth reading just to get another point of view to maybe put more into perspective. If you get it let me know what you think of the two compared!
