The 6th sounds good, simply because it's part of the the myxolidian scale; which is the basic scale to play over this kind of funcky blueses. Second, it's also a note of the major pentatonic scale, which is 'personant' sounding = always OK, but no tensions. Third, in a minor context (blues is +- both minor and major), this is the note that defines the Dorian character, giving a more open, swingin, major-like feeling to the minor.

Is it OK to play 6th (C#) for dominant chord? Sounds good but I cant understand it in theory.
