It isn't high note. High note is when you can sing all the time like that. Listen Georgia Brown or Mariah Carey - they can sing high notes. This one it's ordinary squeal and even I and you can do it.

to be fair a persons voice can be weak one day and strong on another and also in the studio the artists will do several takes to get it perfect but on stage it's a different game . also if the monitoring on stage sucks it's impossible to sing because you can't hear yourself. @JJLopesz this is not a c#7 it does sound more like C#6 and she wasn't even singing it. C#7 would have been much more "shrill" and bright like in falsetto

Also some ladies commenting seem to think that their range also extends as high as a G7 (!!!). Try standing next to a piano and singing all of the notes near the very top of the keys, and then keep going up another 5th. Record yourself doing this and send me the video, I'll send you $1000.
The highest note on a piano is C7. Katy Perry cannot sing higher than a piano. This was a C#6, which may have been impressive if she had showed any control at all.
Katy has a great voice. A lot of people say she sucks because they just like her or her voice style/tone. But nobody has to put her down because she has a unique voice and doesn't sound like every other singer on the radio and in music history. I fully respect Katy because of her unique voice and the fact that every song she sings is her own words. She writes her songs and there are too many singers today that don't. So don't say she sucks because she's just not your cup of tea.

I know she was probably going for that sound, but it's a mess. No, Gaga's family was rich. I don't really give a shit about how they did it but they had money. @HusseinDessouky Sorry, but I think it sounds cheap. She was going for that grunge, dirty sound anyway... but it ended up sounded cheap and basic. Rihanna may not write all of or produce her music, but she is in complete control of everything she records, wears, promotes, etc. She is the reason her most critically acclaimed album, Rated R, even happened. That album was a commercial risk but she took it. Gaga "only" has five Grammys. Rihanna has four and just got nominated for four more tonight.

to be fair a persons voice can be weak one day and strong on another and also in the studio the artists will do several takes to get it perfect but on stage it's a different game . also if the monitoring on stage sucks it's impossible to sing because you can't hear yourself. This was not a note, it was a scream. The two are DIFFERENT. One is a pitch a focused, purposeful melodic sound. The other - noise from the throat. Simply because it is within the key the song was played in, does not make it music.

This is not a critique of Kate Perry's singing, I think she's a very talented singer but I also think that she had no intention of singing that note, she chose to scream it. Also some ladies commenting seem to think that their range also extends as high as a G7 (!!!). Try standing next to a piano and singing all of the notes near the very top of the keys, and then keep going up another 5th. Record yourself doing this and send me the video, I'll send you $1000.

Katy has a great voice. A lot of people say she sucks because they just like her or her voice style/tone. But nobody has to put her down because she has a unique voice and doesn't sound like every other singer on the radio and in music history. I fully respect Katy because of her unique voice and the fact that every song she sings is her own words. She writes her songs and there are too many singers today that don't. So don't say she sucks because she's just not your cup of tea.
