quaid looked just like holliday, he even lost 38 pounds to play the part. put on a true georgia accent. val kilmer was pathetic "im your huckelberry" i'm from the south and if anyone said that, you'd whip their butt for being queer. wyatt was much more accurate historically. tombstone just had better known actors. my favorite part in earp, "all of you can kill my rebel dick!" i really wanna say that to all of this rude yankees in iowa.
@1hogfan83 I almost wish I was from the south just so I could tell people to "Kiss my Rebel dick." Telling people to kiss my Yankee dick just doesn't have the same ring to it.
Morgan Earp was ~4 months older than 'Doc' Morg was born Aprl 1851 and 'Doc' was born Aug 1851---I can relate to Morg in a way, was a Res Deputy and was born 100 yrs later and same month as Morg.
I d k , Dennis quaid doesn;t even look like dennis quaid... showing how well he prepared for this role. I believe that both interpretations are equally amazing.
Val Kilmer was excellent, but Dennis Quaid went so far as to loose the weight to give the impression of someone with T.B. and made DOC more realistic. In the movie Tombstone Val Kilmer didn't get grazed at the battle, whereas in the movie Wyatt Earp, Dennis character fell in line with the truth. Also in Tombstone if you see pix of the real Wyatt Earp you can't imagine him reacting to Morgan's shooting like Kurt Russell did. Wyatt and his brothers along with DOC were as mean as the Clantons
Main things I didn't care for in Wyatt Earp was bad costuming. Behan was badly cast and dressed . The derby was more accurated and he was a younger man than the guy portraying him in W/E. and Costner should have had more mustache and a hat with a lower crown, Quaid was the standout but Holliday was probably more accurately played by Kilmer.
oh yay! another amazing movie fucked up by assholes like you. don't put such a great moive to such trash like this shit...whatever the hell this awful music is.
*I mean, I got ya on that part, just what did you mean by "Doc was a killer but he was pretty kick ass" What did that quote have to do with what I said, thats what I meant...
Why didn't the guy just blow Doc's head off 4:30, he had the chance, but shot him in the leg, thats what pissed me off about this scene, cos irl Doc only got a cut on his thigh from a bullet that just scrapped him.
I thought the movie was a bit to drawn out. That and Val Kilmer did a bit of a better job with Doc's other traits but Dennis Quaid nailed the man's temper!^^ I love the scene with Doc and Kate in the hotel room and the one in here, just before the gunfight.^^
You watched this in history class? You do know that this movie isn't exactly historicly accurate right? There are many sides to this story, on why the shootout occured. This is just one of many. You can also tell youre history teacher that you talked to someone who is related to the Clantons lol.
I agree totally but being just out of high school it seemed we watched a fair bit of movies instead of listening to lectures, don't get me wrong I like movies but not exactly what I want my tax dollars going to and the teachers here always complain they need more pay but they hardly work at all.
lol, i spent my whole time in High school in shop class. There wasn't anything except "go out into the shop and build something!", I loved it! Even made a career out of it. The rest was just B/S. I wish they made me watch movies. lol. I learned far more from just tearing stuff apart and figuring out how it works, than i ever could from any teacher.
Thank You !!! Whoever made this is the Sh*t !!
One of my favorite songs and movies ...;)

WE IS far better where everything is concerned---actors, sets, costumes, music, story, everything. Tombstone is laughable.

"Wyatt Earp" was better funded but did not make a better movie in any other sense than production as "Tombstone"

This was a good movie but Tombstone was better. And Val Kilmer's performance of Doc Holliday was far superior.
gnr4evr06 4 years ago 5
Superior in a more entertaining Hollywood kind of way. Quaid's is based much more on the real Doc Holliday though.
macca1295 3 years ago
@gnr4evr06 Tombstone was only better because of hollywood doctering Wyatt Earp is much more historically acurate.
LTGenJBHood 10 months ago
@gnr4evr06 I thought Dennis Quaid was a better Doc Holliday but Val Kilmer was still awesome.

Schools show you anything these days so the teachers don't have to teach but get paid for it.

Don't get me wrong, this is the "official" explanation (more or less), and a good movie to boot. I was just mentioning the fact.
