if you pot mod these even a little bit your an idiot!..1 you can cook the MCA crystal aka the KTP ..2 you can blow up the IR pump diode...and 3 these lasers use a complicated system of optics..2 sometimes 3 lenses....bottom line over amping the driver board will shorten the life of either 1 or 2 components...do at your own risk!!

Thanks, i just pot modded my 200mw laser, its said to be 380-500mw but yeahh idk about that, but it can burn black marks in wood with in 2 or 3 sec of no moving lol

Not 50mw since my true laser ignites matches in the first 5 minutes of using with fresh, high quality batteries. Anyway, just ordered my 5 mw :D

@FPSBass I had a 50 mw laser from dealextreme and destroyed it when I tried to pot mod it to 100. This evening I opened my 100 mw one that I have for the moment. I could have broke it but yet I wanted to try it and so I did. I twisted the pot to the left but the results are the same. Im not risking any more dangerous actions before I break it again. I felt like an idiot to buy a new one lol. The reason why I tried it again is because the laser doesnt give you a true 100mw, only at full batteries

I got one problem. I have dealextreme 5mW green laser. I pot modded it. IT PWNS NOW!! But if I now turn it left or right, it doesn't do nothing anymore... I mean, I can't turn it any weaker now, no matter how much I turn it left or right.

I´ve measured the voltage of both a 20mW and a 50mW green laser module from Dealextreme. While the diode of the 20mW one was driven at about 1.75V, I measured 2.02V at the 50mW green. They have the same size crystal, so it could be possible that they are basically the same, just at different current settings.

have you got a laser power meter to verify that that laser is actually 50mW if not STFU you cannot make guesses!

The diode and KTP crystal were never designed for that overcurrent. If you do try it, your laser WILL BURN OUT in 5 minutes or less. Spend the money and buy a real 100mw laser.

it depends... the critical factor mostly is the pump diode. If you are lucky and your laser is assembled nicely, you can increase the power without great damage. if it is assembled badly, the pump diode often is already nearly overdriven.

no. the critical factor is usually the ktp crystal. ktp is only about 30% efficient the res of the pump light gets turned into heat. the hotter it gets over the pump threshold, the less it will put out, its a runaway effect until the crystal will melt.

so its not a actual laser but its just a light bulb

I turned the Potentiometer till its max brightness. But the beam is not as bright as yours. Nor it can burn any black thin plastic bag. Did you did other stuffs on the circult board other than turning the potentiometer? Such as removing some of the resistor?

The potentiometer seems to be able to turn non stop. So when is it at its max power? I dont see any changes in the strength of the beam as I turn them. Did you remove or disable any chip in the motherboard?

3 - I used a drill to make a hole in the tube

@RonaldoRisso You don't need to diassemble... you can make a hole directly with everything inside. Just be cautious to set a altitude limit to drill so it cannot break into circuit
