  • Hm.. interesting.. did you know that a great baritone, Walter Berry, was supposed to become an engineer, but he indulged in secret singing lessons.. hm..

  • this was play at myu nan's funaral, made me cry instantly ><

  • I want to play the organ when I am older. How can I do that?

  • It depends. If you would like to take it serious then you can talk to your church organist and ask for organ lessons but I suggest first you take piano lessons.!!

  • yup take piano first learn all the theory i'd say for 6 years so you develop all your musical abilities

  • Mr Barnes, I respect what you say. Sammy will always have his music, and will share with others, through his life as well. A true passion never goes away. You know that. There are "Organist Doctors" out there that have room for both. I know he will do well in all that he does. I think I am to become one of his greatest defenders and supporters. He reminds me a bit of me when I was young, but he is more talented than I. All his goodness will be spread in many ways.

    david.

  • Sondasam, what a tragedy to hear that your passion will not lead you into Organ Performance. God's church needs dedicated god-fearing young men in the ministry of music. You have such poetential. Please reconsider? Oh what wonders Peabody Conservatory or Eastman School or Julliard could do with you in the discipline of Organ Performance! You are missing your calling

  • Thank you very much for your kind message. However, I have decided to directly affect people's live in the most intense way that I can imagine. I am currently planning on going to medical school. I aspire to be a cardiac surgeon and researcher. This I feel is the best thing to dedicate my life to. I hope you do not see tragedy in this:)

I will always have music, though. Even if I am not a professional, I can still play for a church. Again, thank you so much for your wonderful message!!!

  • organist are becoming extincted here. now a days all they want is guitars, drums the nerve of some people

  • I truly agree!! I found a church, They have a 3 man. Moller, that has collected dust for ten years, they could'nt figure out how to turn it on, till I played with iT!

  • I know what you mean!! I too was a church organist, (14 years) also a cardiac P.A. for 18 years. and have had a R hemi bleed 6 years ago. I don't play anymore, except for myself, and my family. Not so good anymore, but I still try. Good Luck in school, I Highly commend you!

  • One can have several callings. They say doctors who pray over their patients have more healings and so on. I don't know how true it is, but that's what they say. Sounds like this young man has the gift of healing in his hands. I play violin, and work in Hospice.

But yes, I do believe those called to be musicians in careers should definitely not toss that by the wayside.

  • I'm Lutheran, I know this is a Catholic Church. We sing a lot of the same hymns that you do! Are you going to post any new videos for Easter Sunday Mass?

  • I hope you do too!

  • Wow! Great job! :D

  • how old are you?

  • I am 19.

  • One of my favorite that we did not sing Christmas Eve. Thanks for sharing!

  • Okay. I have listened to all 3 parts of your Christmas Eve 2007 and listened to all your Christmas Eve 2008 hymns. You are quite the talented organist. You have improved in the 2008 Christmas Eve service!! Keep them coming and post more piano music as well!
