@theoriginalbadbob Muddy's tele had a bolt on neck, just like Leo Fender designed them. I doubt very seriously that *they* broke the neck off of it. Get real.
@jukeking1 I didn't say it was easy, I just said they broke it. This information comes from a great bio of Muddy, titled "I Can't Be Satisfied." I suggest that you read it.
Muddy most have been a terrible lover. Thank about his songs and Lyrics. For instance this one "She's nineteen years old/Nothing I can do can keep this young woman satisfied." Or "I got my mojo working but it just won't work on you". Well muddy may have been bad in bed, BUT HE WAS GREAT AT THE BLUES. One of if not the greatest of all times. So much passion and power in his stuff. LIke the slide solo that he just did, which was so simple yet so AMAZING. JUst Awesome.
@noblesiner What?! "Terrible lover"? I believe those phrases have a little different meaning. Mojo? The voodoo charm didnt have anything to do with Muddy himself. Then again I dont know, but it just seem different take on it. Peace!!
@noblesiner Lol this is an interesting take but Muddy had women lined up show after show and sometimes it was the same women night after night. Sometimes he's super macho, Mannish Boy, Hoochie Coochie Man, I Want to Make Love etc. Then sometimes he can't get the woman he wants, or a certain woman isn't satisfied when all the other women are. In real life he had kids by different women all over the country and at least 3 wives, his last one about 40 years younger. He must have done somethin right
I could not possibly agree more. This album defines the blues at their best via the consensus best bluesman ever. Note the amount of space between notes and instruments. Classic blues people say about today's blues: "Too many notes". And they are correct. It's not easy to find REAL blues these days.
God bless Muddy, Pinetop Perkins, Luther "Guitar Jr." Johnson, Willie "Big Eyes" Smith, Bob "Steady Rollin'" Margolin, Calvin Jones and Jerry Portnoy for everything!
@4orrcountry I love the old Joe Walsh statement that he'd rather hear BB King play 2 notes in a 20 second phrase than Eddie Van Halen play 200 notes in the same space. I love BB but even he pushes the envelope for my taste (modernish). My 2 cent opinion is that Muddy is the best and of Muddy, this album is the best.
I Glad JOHNNY WINTERS Took him Back out on the Road,..during these Last years of Muddys Life,..He was Such a Insperation to all us Players,..Ask Stevie,..Muddys Music will live on,..He said alot thru his Music,.I was lucky enough ta see him with B.B.and Buddy Guy,Bobby Blue Bland, and Stevie Ray,Played All The Time in the 80s,.In Austin TX,at Antones,.and Stubs bar-B Q,..Back in the Old Days,..He will Be Remembered!!
@funkmusicman i reading the book "I Can't Be Satisfied: The Life & Times of Muddy Waters" and saw the DVD on the book and clearly this guy was wild about his women...got to love him though....
Muddy had his red tele buried with him. It wouldn't quite fit, so they broke the neck off and put the two pieces in the coffin.
