Those things are pretty stupid. If you can drive you can breastfeed. And if you have had so much that you need to test you milk... then maybe you shouldn't be breastfeeding. 1 or 2 glasses of wine/beer isn't going to harm your baby. And if your doc DOES reccommend a beer for stress reduction, what are you going to do then? Not feed your screaming baby until the test strip says so? That sounds like more stress!
Why is it sooo important to drink alcohol that you would go through all that? It doesn't make sense. It is better to not drink alcohol at all, especially since there are obviously children involved. Why waste breast milk(a baby's best food) because you just have to have liquor? That's selfish, but hey, to each her own...
Oh my gosh, are you kidding? That walking thing is stupid. It is like the Bumbo. Your child will walk, sit-up and potty train when it is ready. It's just more STUFF!
@theoriginalbeeka I find the bumbo very useful and my 3mo loves it! He is too little to sit by himself yet, but when sitting in a swing or rocker its on to much of an incline when he wants to sit straight up. He will keep trying to pull his head and neck up which is a strain for him. So the Bumbo really helps. However.. I agree that the breastmilk tester is a stupid idea.
@theoriginalbeeka... You are so right! Why would you want to force you baby to do something to do when it is obviously not ready! The Bumbo is a bad idea!
@chatabox0girl@chatabox0girl Jesus Christ slow down their hostile! I never said you are pushing him to do something he doesn't want to do; I said that he is not ready to do. The muscles in your baby's back are not yet ready to be sitting up-right like that @ 3 months. I have been a child life specialist for 12 years now and the summer that the bumbo came out we had world renowned pediatricians speak at our national conference about the dangers of pushing kids to reach their milestones to early
Testing for alcohol in breastmilk is completely unnecessary (it is a very common misconception). Alcohol leaves your milk supply at the same rate that it leaves your bloodstream. If you're safe to drive, you're safe to breastfeed. Another misconception about breastfeeding is that it's necessary to "pump and dump". Mums -- you do not need to do this. Again, as long as you're safe to drive you're safe to breastfeed.

@chatabox0girl Way to push your baby to do something that he is not ready to do. You must have not researched the bumbo before buying it.

I can't believe people buy this product. If you can drive, you can nurse. If you have A GLASS of wine, there is no reason to "pump and dump" at all.

Some moms have a pretty high stress level. Guess for those women, better safe than sorry.

Exactly!
In other words, some women are crazy to begin with! :D
