if your talking about the april 11 07 swell i thought it was a bit bigger this time around.

The wedge is a realy gnarly shore break that's not that deep. Tha rock jetty is what makes it so unique

how deep is the water where the waves break usually?

usually 2ft but sometimes right on the sand

when its breaking this big, it usually tends to break pretty far out, you cant touch, but sometimes when its not as big, 3-5 feet deep, nothing to be too scared of

dude i went out at wedge today and got a couple 15 footers and then got worked by an almost 20 footer. gnarly swell for all of socal. epic

i was at the white tower on main beach Laguna, and there was a standout 14' set that broke outside of the main bouy,

and by north main it swallowed bird rock... the tide came up to the boardwalk....

laguna at brooks st was humongus so big!!!

The news report is about 1:00 p.m., a body surfer was thrown in to the rocks and was taken to Hoag Hospital (which is right up the street for those who don't know), where he died later. We left the beach right before that happened, and those were some of the biggest waves Ive seen at the wedge. I have some video of it up also.
