Dolby was ahead of his time using sampling etc, although sampling is nothing new. I saw a clip of Thomas Dolby performing the same song many years later. He was performing solo, I guess that is technology though, he didn't need his band members.

The audience didn't know what just happen, so there was a pause before clapping. Dolby was way ahead of his time
