  • Android users, G(.)(.)gle is watching you..

  • @cashfornothing Apple users, W#0 Kn0w$ who is watching you...

  • Nice, I love the functionality. I'll have to get an Android phone.

On another note, the OS is ugly as fuck.

  • What phone is it?

It's so much faster than my phone :P

    Must bi one gigahertz whatsoever

  • Good!!!

  • how much dollar????

  • Keitai5263 = Attention Whore

  • and the iphone isnt fast

its a very slow smartphone compared to this

i cant even send msn mssges

  • you havent witnessed the powa of da android

  • CAN ANDROID BE INSTALLED ON PALM OS ?????? ( I HAVE PALM TREO 680 ) ????????????? please reply or answer on private massage !

  • I love competition.. Folks at Apple will be running crazy.. they better be when they are being taken to task by one of the most innovative and respected software companies ever.

  • someone should figure out how to run android on an iphone ahha.

  • yeah iphone is officially shit

  • Magnifier and such makes iPhone UI look primitive !

Empiezas a entender?

  • beautiful

  • wow.. i gotta get this

  • you gotta get my dick

  • Google rox my sox

  • The wing is a good phone wipe the factory rom and reflash it. xda fourms

  • wat service is the phone gonna use?

  • I read a few days ago somewhere(i forget where lol) that said t-mobile is gunna get it first followed by sprint and verizon later on.

  • Tmobile.

plus 3g is coming in october! it is already out but you need a 3g phone.

    check out Tmonews(.)com

  • iphone killer?

  • I haven't read or seen any comparisons to T-Mobile's current top-of-line phone, the WING, a WM touchscreen device also made by HTC. It's of course not a 3G phone, but i wish i could get a sense of "what's better?" about actual usage. Google Maps runs great on my WING, with GPS, satellite view, etc. WING has slideout keyboard, "joystick" as well as touch controls... and when you dump the crappy stock t-mo/WM rom, replace with an XDA rom like OpenTouch, very responsive. Anyone know?

  • The Tmobile Wing was a total piece of crap and I couldn't return mine fast enough. The processor was TOOOO slow and the phone was short on memory. I love Tmobile's service, but until now, they haven't had a great PDA.

  • No question - tmobile wing is old technology -- using same old processor as T-mobile prior PDA model, the MDA , which is easily 4 years old. They tried to save money by shoverling the old processor into what otherwise is a far better phone than MDA. But "stock" rom is bloatware. To be fair, you can get fantastic performace when replacing with revamped OS-rom from XDA-developers, with finger-touch apps, etc. It's Windows Mobile that is the crapper with old fashioned "desktop mentality" UI

  • iWhat? iPhone was a success mainly because of its UI. Functionality did NOT, and i repeat, NOT contribute to iPhone's success. you can't even mms! now that you have a UI that's not just a cheap rip off of iPhone, Apple has a SERIOUS competitor. Add an open source OS, a physical keyboard, and some multimedia options and either Mr. Jobs is going to frantically and immediately respond, or disappear into his batcave for months until he thinks it's safe again.

  • /watch?v=N5RzBQ0mxWc

    the new ipod touch

  • this kicks some iphones ass i guess.

  • What iphone? i think ill wait for what looks like a far more accessible phone with more functional apps.

  • But i don't think the iphone will come open source. Could you just imagine all possibilities!?

    Endless no limitations

  • T-mobo will be the first to get an Android enabled phone. hopefully in October, HTC will release what I think they are calling the "Dream". looks super awesome!!!

  • will this be on Tmobile here in the usa or uk?

  • i wana kno wen i comes out??

  • It's supposed to be arriving in just about a month from now from what I heard at one of my local phone stores!! :)

  • I can't wait for Android.

I just hope the hardware looks decent and the UI is as fluid as the iPhone.

Also, to have an edge over the iPhone, I certainly hope the browser supports flash, and the phone has a front cam for video calls...

  • i heard its out for t-mobile..... is this true?? and yes i agree its gona knock off iphone. compass mode is out rageous

  • You are right..it is going to be an HTC phone through T-Mobile, and yes! the compass mode is just outrageous

  • No video recording, no AD2P bluetooth profile, no bluetooth file transfer, no camera settings, no video calling?

iPhone is great...as a fashion statement

  • I meant iPhone came b4 the future Android phone ;)

    ur right tho.

  • is this charity from google?

  • Hahaha...Apple you are SO owned..good job to steve jobs and his minions for trying their best. but REALLY. NO competiton even at this early stage. the App Store might even the playing field a little bit but the G phone will rock the mobile boat so to speak when it comes out. (whenever that may be)

  • @kelimandya Fail

  • @kelimandya are nostradamus?. Do you know the mega million numbers for tuesday's drawing?. You were right about google phone rocking the mobile boat. Did you know something that we didn't?. I have a Samsung vibrant running android froyo that I got in March. My first smartphone, and I love it.

  • @kelimandya as a matter of fact the first g phone was a piece of shit.

  • That will make your Iphone look like a prehistorical brick. And by the way, learn a proper language. Even your Swedish suck.

  • While I agree with you that this will own iPhone and whatever inubbideiente will ever want, I have to point out the irony in your criticism of his grammar, when you use words like "prehistorical" and phrases like "your Swedish suck."

  • hahahahaha prehistorical brick! hahahaha LMFAO!!! It's true though. LG viewty owns íphone easily.

  • is this on the instinct, Vu, ...?

  • this is kicking in apples ass :D

  • I find it funny people are saying and agreeing on how this is copying the iphone. Android is an OS, not a phone. How can it be copying the iphone when it is two different things? Remember, Android can be used in any type of phone, touchscreen, qwerty, even screenless. There might be android phones that compete against the iphone, but android itself isn't competition for the iphone b/c it's two different things.

  • Fine. But why four icons at the bottom? Why four icons in a row on the top? No new ideas? No better UI?

  • its not like their copying from other phones, its the basic set up for a desktop too, the shortcut keys on the taskbar

  • looks cool

  • I don't know if I should buy a smartphone now or wait for these bad boys to drop!

  • i doubt that, android is already 3G and is opensource. Not only that, but its by google who've done so much for the user in all platforms not just one OS as Apple has. The iPhone is lacking on many things, even now with the new 3G iPhones.

Furthermore, the Android has all the features the iPhone is lacking as of now so Android is far more advanced, for now. Although I doubt the iPhone will ever beat "free open-source" iphone just like macs and os X are elite and limited, nothing bad w/that but..

  • Everyone is missing the point.

Apple doesn't care if others copy, it's their job to lead the field. Bring it on, it just all makes it better for everybody.

Imagine, if Microsoft had dominated the PC market totally... . they acquired nearly all their software as it is. Where would we be if MS had no where to acquire it? More companies building new platforms is good for us all. Anyone disagree?

  • The premise of the Android platform is that it is open source allowing anyone to modify/create programs for it. This is very very different from the iPhone. Google is by no means copying apple and creating a very useful phone. It is creating an operating system upon which any number of very smart/useful phones can be developed.

Also please don't say wake up.....it really is silly in the context.

  • And your saying Apple iPhone isn't open sourced?

Wow! You are saying it's different, gee you widely read! NOT

  • Ask412,

My comment was in response to zhikata's post it was not supposed to stand alone. It makes more sense then.

  • iphone is NOT open source. Do YOU know what is open source?

  • You obviously don't know what open sourced means. Look it up. Having an SDK doesn't mean it's open sourced, if that's what you are thinking of. So far Android can't even qualify as open sourced yet, but it will be when it gets out of development stage.

  • That depends if you think open sourced components are 'open source'.

  • yet!!But it will be

  • Poor Steve Jobs:( is going to let google do what Microsoft did. Oh well he is rich enough already. I guess i'll have to focus on getting to the MOON where gravity won't hurt my back as much :)

  • will the IM on the phone be Googgle Talk or .... what?

What's the Market icon? kinda like an App store im guessing?

im very excited about this, finally i'll rest assured when im out and about not thinking about my the things i check on my computer.

  • Wow. The street view and compass mode is very sweet. I'm a Sprint user looking forward to the instinct coming out soon.

  • did they actually applaud 'compass mode'? ooOOOOoooo

  • being a AAPL shareholder that kind of scares me. SIKE...bring it..AAPl will win in the end of the day. But it is nice to see other people trying to be so much like AAPL.

  • LOL all 5 shares, I'm sure.

  • The best feature is also the most useless .. street view is cool but useless, like you would look at the phone screen instead of looking ahead of you when you drive or walk YIKES

Looks like the Android is the first mobile OS that can compete with the iPhone, not mind blowing but you can tell Google is doing something right in the user experience /interface

  • Uh, you have to stop and look down at a MAP or a GPS device too...

  • As nifty as the Compass feature is, the only time it would be less than awkward to use it would be on the street that you are Street Viewing, and, at which point, you would already be able to see what's on the screen in front of you. :-\ Nifty feature, and I hope developers can use it to even cooler applications.

  • U just can't copy them to beat them, iPhone.

  • of course, youre right ... thats the reason why android provides much more than iphone ... android is open source operating system with opened SDK available to anyone for free, any manufacturer can implement and modify Android for free without expensive license from Google ... Android will be revolutionary in that way...

  • Iphone haters should use Logic. You can't copy the competition to beat the competition. That's not logic.

oh, i own no iPhone. :)

  • Very Good, Fantastic !!!

  • anything that runs Linux has to be awesome! Tux takes over the world with an army of androids :D

  • You're just another apple fan boy - Steve jobs is going to plow that company into the ground again unless he starts to accept "open-sourcing" more. Google has built it's entire model around open sourcing and has profited because of it - there is no reason that it won't profit from the cell phone industry as well.

  • From what I am seeing here I don't think there is anything the iphone can do that android can't do. In fact there may be some things android can do that can't be done on the iphone. There's lots of development potential in android. The reason WinMo didn't succeed is it's too sluggish & it's not designed for the consumer market. Android looks to be different. If you look closely, there's a "youtube" button in the demo, so it's not as if that phone couldn't view youtube :P.

  • that all depends on the hardware manufacturer, I think if there is a company that can do something to compete with Apple it's Google but again they don' make the hardware so it's up to the cell phone manufacturer to implement the os so that it can keep up with the iPhone...

  • Good, I hope Apple dies in a fire. And the rest of the telecom companies too.

  • Once Mobile Handset manufacturers take full advantage of Android's capabilities, it will be awesome.

At the end of the day though, the Android is a direct competitor for Microsoft Mobile, not really the iPhone. Also, considering Google & Apple have a great relationship with each other, the iPhone may well share a few features with the Android.

  • funny when people go: ohhhhhh

    at the end

  • awsome.

just like Axl Rose and Slash

  • will it have wlan

  • Awesome. Google will win with this - why because is open source and not tied down to one phone or network.

  • better than iphone, because its an opensource native suite.. apple's macosx runs on freebsd dude, share the development its the future of good health bussiness! go google, go! :)

  • iPhone wannabee.....

  • so's your face

  • That is the sickest phone ever.

  • no body fuccin cares

  • looks like a gps in my eye

  • its multifunctional device ... whats wrong about it ?

  • will it have wlan????????????????????????

  • :D ... If the Phone you might have in future has Wlan, it will have WLan!

  • for me is wlan impoortant

  • You didn't understand me. Android is just a platform for mobile phones. Of course it has WiFi-capabilitys, but it depends on your phone if YOU will have Wlan. Means that YOUR PHONE must support Wifi. That's it. =)

  • WiFI plus I would believe it would work with that new spectrum that google was trying to buy.

  • Blah

  • R.I.P. Windows Mobile...

  • What kind of handset is he using in that android demo?

  • will it have wlan?

  • HTC Dream

  • will it have wlan?

  • will it have wlan?

  • Apple will ad similar features and simply outrun Google and all other competitors.

  • Only iPhone will have whatever apple does, Android has the potential on being on all other phones, as it's an open platform. I think the iPhone market share is non existent compared to all other phones put together.

  • All well and good, cleaver little device, but what does it do for the unaffordable connect time? Using the cell phone network for internet access is just too expensive as Apple iPhone owner quickly found out.

For most people, just a cell phone is too expensive.

  • If google were able to buy the old analogue spectrum it's be free,

  • will it have wlan????

  • wait this is a phone or just software, and for what serive t-mobile, verizon?

  • I'm so excited about this! This is a HUGE step for mobile devices

  • man google is my favorite big business!! it seems like they use their wealth to help the world out instead of milk it.

  • Whoah, competition for Windows Mobile. Good start for Android, I like the StreetView! Simply amazing.

  • Windows Mobile? WM isn't fancy, it sucks from the personal perspective but not business' perspective.. this device is a good competitor for Apple's iPhone!

  • Amazing

  • Amazing progress in the past 6 months Google. I salute you.

  • Amazing!!!!! Google is going to change everything we thought about what used to be cell phones... To anyone who is comparing it to the iPhone saying it looks and interacts like an iPhone... that's like saying all laptops are the same or all phones with a full qwerty... It uses touch.. eventually all phones and computers will use touch. Cheers to the iPhone for being first.. hats off to Google for making what looks to be an amazing mobile OS.

  • If the phone is Wifi enabled why can't it be used as a webcam to video conference via a program like Skype?

  • there are applications for s60 (symbian) that allows the phone to be used as a web cam i suppose this technology can be ported to the andriond platform

  • Its not an Android Phone, its the Google Gphone with the Android Operating System..

  • There is no such thing as the gphone. All there is is phones running Android so in a sense yes it is an Android phone way more than it is a Gphone!

  • Am i the only one, or looks the usability of the phone just like an iphone. Sure - the os seems to be diffrent, but the gestures and usability is just the same. Its an iphone with other applications on it.

  • thats the key... other apps.

according to a top Google employee, there will be no need for restriction of apps. so this means that there will a much broader range of apps for an Android based phone than an iPhone (at least at the moment). Also, as all elements are open, the UI can be changed to individual preferences by d/ling 3rd party UIs.

so tho it may look like the iPhone, it has some key differences. the thing is, the iPhone came first, so all similar phones are compared to iPhone.....

  • i want it i want it

  • amazing! iphone, your days are numbered! I just wish I could have seen the keyboard with this phone...

  • I want one of those phones right now!!!!!!!!!.

.. maybe the next year when they arrive here :(.

  • looks really great!

  • That was amazing, I love the swipe down on the notifications. iPhone needs that and the LOCK SCREEN is Awesome! iPhone needs that too. AND the Compass!

  • the internet phone it is

  • best phone OS ever.

  • very powerful

  • what phone is used here ?

  • According to cNET News, the phone is from an unnamed manufacturer. "It used a Qualcomm MDM 7201A processor, a Synaptics capacitive touch screen, and a 3.6 megabit-per-second HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) broadband connection."

So apparently this phone really was demoed with 3G, and not wi-fi, which is good because the speed was excellent, IMHO.

  • Wow, this is so much better than iPhone and this demo was so much less pretentious.

  • Agreed, about the lack of pretentiousness. But we can't honestly say with 100% certainty what features (besides 3G) will be in the second generation iPhone, which is really the one to which we should be comparing Android phones. And so its sort of an unfair comparison.

  • true true... but we do not know how many features an Android phone will have either... so frankly its too early to make any comparisons at all!
