8:39 of my life that I wish I had back. Pure drivel. There was a total of about 84 brain cells on that stage.
Being as people remember things better when using visuals I think this should be played for all elementary school kids without one word from the teacher. It would be much more effective as an anti-drug message than anything a nerdy teacher could ever convey.
i think it comes off as being worse than what it really is because he doesn't have enough treble on his mic, giving the impression that he's mumbling gibberish...he was usually quite professional
I saw Ken Kesey at Evergreen State College commencement in like 2001 or so--he forgot his speech that he'd written. But unlike Carroll--who's just reciting the lyrics from some of his songs, Kesey just stood there and babbled.
Wow, scary. I was there and even specifically remembered Jim Carroll's nervous babbling before he found his groove. As for the "unplugged" False Prophets -- that was sort of a trip, too, having seen them normally in the dankness of the Pyramid.
Jim really came through after the band he just let the words perice through.

Do you suppose these gomers know that "the angel" is heroin? Mamma always said "stupid is as stupid does."

These "gomers" are the notorious punk band "False Prophets".
They (normally) played the most fantastic energic music ever on this planet...
But I admit ... they must have been out of bed too early.
