An interesting idea. It reminds of me of the movie "Repo Man," in which all of the products that appear onscreen bear conspicuously generic, brandless labels: "food," "soda," "beer," etc.
@Smithpolly Good point. I only do this label-ripping stuff with items I'll use up quickly or that aren't hazardous. All those ugly medicine labels stay!

It's a good idea but I'd probably write the name of the product and its expiry date on the bottom of the can in indelible ink.
