  • It's like I said Dave. This part...you do alone.

  • Thumbs up if you're still watching this masterpiece in 2011!

  • The one thing that pisses me of most is that bitch Annabeth justifying Dave's murder and destroying a family. Not to mention at the end when she looks at Celeste and keeps clapping and smiling, I wish that bitch got her throat slit in the movie.

  • Disturbing scene but a very good movie. Two wonderful actors

  • @antdez1 fuck you

  • @EscapeTheFateXFIR :0 naaaaaa..

  • @antdez1 yess, why do you fuck gim and his daughter? They're freaking nice!!

  • @EscapeTheFateXFIR :l the guy is an asshole, is daughter's death is karma at it's best. now by killing him he just dug himself more, he just no good

  • @antdez1 he had good reasons to kill Dave for he thought he was his daughter's killer!

  • @EscapeTheFateXFIR :l true true, i think his wife was the problem to, she ratted him out right?

  • @antdez1 yeah, she must feel damn bad wwhen she figures out that he actually didn't kill Katie... o_O

  • fucking arabs

  • Tim Robbins deserves as much recognition as the other two but it seems as if nobody's aware he exists.

And ughh I was so pissed off at Jimmy's wife.

"Oh, you murdered your buddy?Oh well, here, have a poptart."

    ashdjaskd

  • @redmangoose182 I know, i was reading and i can't believe how much of a heartless bitch Annabeth became. Jimmy killed the wrong guy, his childhood friend and she gives him a treat by fucking him in their kitchen? And Jimmy, the way he admits to being evil but saying it's ok becuase he has "love" in his heart. And i am pretty sure that Hittler, Stalin and Hussein had love in thier hearts when they killed people. I really hope that there is a bullet out there with "Jimmy Marcus" etched in it.

  • @codename617 can't compare Jimmy with Hitler, Stalin and Hussein

  • @EscapeTheFateXFIR Not in a big way, but in a way yes. THose men were men with power and were murderers. IN a away they were criminals. Jimmy is a criminal. Sure, for misguided reasons he killed Dave, but at the end he didn't even feel bad about it. He returnes to his criminal ways and his neighborhood gives him the feeling of being some kind of player, like he's on top or something. He admits to himself that he does beilive that he is evil but that there is love in his heart. THat's bs excuse.

  • @codename617 yes, he does feel bad at the end, it's just that Annabeth tells him that he doesn't have to feel bad since he "did what he had to do because his heart is full of love for her and his daughters". Anyways, what do you want him to do? He's killed Dave thinking he was his daughter's killer, he was wrong and as we can see at the end, he's likely to be arrested by Sean, well, we don't know... I think he's basically good and he kinda kept the promise he made to Katie at the morgue...

  • @EscapeTheFateXFIR Well i am speaking from the perspective of the book. Sorry about the confusion there if there was any. But at the end, Jimmy goes back to his ways because he finds out that Annabeth dosen't care whether or not Jimmy is a crook. And at the end, Jimmy dosen't even feel sorry about killing Dave. He thinks that he killed a would-be pedophile. And no matter what, he didn't have to get Dave in the manner he did. At least when the Real killers killed KAtie, Jimmy had a body, What do-

  • @EscapeTheFateXFIR -Celeste and Michael have? Not just that Jimmy stole a father and husband without remorse, he stole a proper funneral. Had he had been sympathetic and full of remorse and guilt at the end then i would feel more bad for Jimmy, but he went back to being Jimmy Flatts, the wiseguy everybody likes to hang around. I don't know how movie Jimmy is like, but novel Jimmy just goes back to his old ways and uses his love as an excuse when he should use it as a reason not to not go back.

  • @codename617 well, I'm actually reading the book, I haven't fifnished yet and I saw the movie before reading the book, so I don't really know how Jimmy reacts at the end of the book (well I didn't know, but I do now since you told me :) Anyways, what do you think he should have done? He probably feels kinda guilty though but he couldn't sink in his guilt like he sank in his sorrow about his daughter's death, he still has his family to take care of...

  • This scene changed my life forever.

  • This movie is the definition of "Life is never Fair"

    a truly masterpiece

  • Comment removed

  • @ActionFigureSS and then proceed to continue living a lie

  • Daves pos wife told a man grieving for his departed daughter that she believed Dave killed his daughter

And then Dave knew there was no way he would leave that river bank alive

So he addmitted to killing his daughter

    To end it

    I would have said Fu

    I told you the truth

    Kill me now

    My story will never change

  • dave wanted to die. he had been living with that basement memory forever.

  • @nigelchitownking No he didnt He want to change, He want to go to his wife and child and beg for forgivness. He want become a better person and fight his demons. He kept begging Jimmy not to kill and to let him go see his wife. Now, his wife a crazy lunitic, his son is fatherless. What are the chances that Michael will go through the same shit dave did? Only time will tell i guess. Jimmy got his daughter's funeral and her killers put away. WHat did Celest and Micheal get?

  • your all missing the point, sean penn is a traitor. he plays the part of someone who takes care of his family then goes and visits a dictator.

  • @ActionFigureSS even if that means supporting a man that unjustly took the law into his own hands, murdered someone in cold blood, didn't report that as a crime of which now she would be eligible for capital punishment. This movie disturbed and disgusting me. This ladies and gentlemen is vigilante justice in all it's glory. Using our base instincts to justify murder, rape and horrific acts

  • just to let the people who havent seen this film know , penn kills him after this, doesnt just help him up lol

  • The part where he says "the dream of youth" and on...is one of the eeriest parts in a movie ive ever seen

  • why does the character w/ the good intentions have to be killed?

  • Tim robbins... he was in Jacob's later....

  • this is a good film, i just saw it. i thought dave did it too then i thought it was the boyfriend...

  • sean penn is a fuckin amazing actor holy shit, so is that other guy i never heard of till i saw this movie lol

  • thanks for the upload, i was looking for this part.

ive got an essay due in two hours. x_x

  • i would just be non stop yelling "I DIDN't KILL YOUR FUCKIN DAUGHTER!"

  • @hlev123 he never wanted to live, this was retribution

  • man put up the part where he kills him

  • Come on. Have some sense. Jimmy won't get away with it. Sean's too good of a cop. There will be plenty of evidence to lock Jimmy up. In the end, Sean could easily put Jimmy away. He didn't get away with Dave's murder.

  • I agree, but if you read the rest of Dennis Lehane's novels (author of the book) the mood and theme in most of his books are that life is messed up. the good&evil balance in life is usually fucked up, and the idea that dave was molested as a child, had a rocky marriage, and his own demons eventually leading to his death is all apart of life. if you think about it, jimmy said the last time he saw dave was when he rode away in the car, so maybe he never really killed dave, 'dave' was already dead?

  • Well, one thing's for certain, justified or not, Dave would have eventually stood trial for the murder of the pedo, and convicted or not, he would have seen some jail time. Considering what he'd went through as a child, he probably would have rather went to the bottom of the Mystic River than be locked up again.

  • I really liked the movie, but there were a couple of things that bugged me.

First, exactly how and when did Ray's kids get his gun. Silent Ray must have been a baby when Just Ray was killed.

Secondly, Why would the kids even make that 911 call? The car was left right in the middle of the street, and gunshots were heard, so it would have been discovered probably by the time they beat the girl to death.

Thirdly-When Dave was about to die, it would have been easy to take Jimmy to the pedo's body.

  • Just read the book and i was thinking the exact same thing.

i loved the book up until the part where it is revealed that the boys committed the crime.

    not very convincing.

  • in the book ray's mom was pregnant when his dad died

  • @liberal185 i agree with you..about the "dave" thing..well spoken

  • Yeah he did. He got away with Just Ray's murder cuz he dumped him in the mystic along with the murder weapon. There's no evidence to convict.

  • ya gotta see this fuckin flick cocksuckers

  • You're dumb.

  • No, you're still dumb.

  • I look at myself and see someone much smarter than you.

  • ur a hyprocrite

thats what u say that no one has the right to kill and do justice themselves

    but theyy killed his daughter

    conservative cunt

  • except he didn't kill the daughter...

  • this scene alone one both of them oscars

san penn's individual scene was the one where he was crying

this won tim robbins the award

just watch the look on his face

  • its not the movie u idiot

it was adapted from a novel

which is why its great cause it was true to source material

    BTW fuck ur religion

this movie was one of the best of the decade

  • Could someone upload the entire movie please.

  • this movie is a masterpiece

  • Tim Robbins is my Favourite actor =D

    Sean Penn is great too

    I love this movie

  • thts such a good plot especially the ending id feel so bad so he kills hiis childhood friend only to find out tht it wasnt him tht killed his daughter

  • Wow I can't believe some people didn't get Dave's death... Dave was a shell of his former self; he was "broken" as a kid. He suffered for the 25 years after he was molested, like a rabbit caught in a snare. Whether he killed the girl or not, in the end he was being put out of his misery. It wouldn't be a very happy ending if he kept living a miserable life, and the chosen ending is far more interesting, in my opinion.

  • yeah but now his son is going to end up just like him. You can tell how devastated he is during the parade. Fact that he died isn't that bad, its how everyone gets away with it and no one seems to care that disturbs me

  • I suppose you're right there... the poor kid was gonna be messed up SOMEHOW anyway though, given that his dad was mentally unstable and probably would have influenced the kid. I've gotta agree with you, the movie does go against the whole "bad guys always lose" ending... kinda depressing.

  • Idunno about that. I think Dave was able to protect his son from his psychosis. In every scene that I saw between him and his son, he acted like a pretty good father When he started to flashback after seeing the cement, towards the beginning of the movie, he pulled his son away. Obviously theres no determination of what his son could have become, but Dave only flipped out when he saw that kid getting molested. Other then that, he seemed eccentric, but not bonafide insane

  • Actually, I see what you're saying now. Though there's no way to tell for sure how the kid would turn out, Dave wasn't completely messed up. He spent time with his son, and cared enough about him. Damn Jimmy for being so irrational!

  • Yeah, I was disgusted at how that dude killed Dave, and a couple scenes later he's making out with his wife (who's basically telling him "Shhh, you did what you had to do")...WTF? I'm sorry, but this movie kinda had me pissed off.

  • and I hope the trigger finger Sean gives Jimmy at the end and Jimmy shrugging means Sean wont let Jimmy get away with it, or maybe the kid will grow up and kill Jimmy. There wont ever be a sequel made, so it wont matter though

  • In the book atleast, the gun mimic Sean makes was suggested that Sean was saying to Jimmy "I know you killed Dean, and I'm going to wait till you slip up, and then I'm going to get you", and Jimmy's shrug seemed to suggest he wasn't concerned by this threat, and he reckoned he could get away scott free.

  • I just saw this movie today, & I was so pissed at the ending. Dave dies, Jimmy gets away with it, & now Dave's son is scared forever. And Jimmy's wife doesn't care that he even killed the wrong guy, but she was right about Dave's dumb wife. I guess it went against the old bad guy always loses ending, but after the wife talked about him being the King of the neighborhood, I wanted the both of them arrested, and him killing "just Ray" and then Rays son killing his daughter was poetic justice

  • God, I can't stand that Dave was killed when he didn't do anything wrong. It hurts even more because in the next scene Jimmey realizes he killed is friend who did nothing wrong but kill a bad guy. DAMN.......... its frustrating, the ending (BUT VERY GOOD MOVIE)

  • you shit head

  • This is my favourite movie ever, with The Game.

I love Sean Penn so much, he's a great actor!

    (L)

  • He shoulda just told him the truth no body cares about ome fag kiddie raper, dave was a hero.

  • i agree. and im having a hard time figuring out why you have minus 2 on this comment...people actually care about the man who was in that car molesting the kid?..that's just great

btw does anyone know that kids name?..the actor i mean...even though they only showed his face for like a second.

  • He told the truth to his wife. She didn't believe him. Sean's character would've killed him anyway. Tim's character just wanted a way out of the situation. Sean's character just lied to him. Plus the kidnapping he went through messed him up so bad. Thats one reason why those two got awards. They played those character so well. Tim being an adult torn up and screwed up by a dramatic event and i think the scene where they find Sean's daughter and Sean trys to see it is the reason he got award.

  • sin duda el mejor actor de su generacion

  • I know!!! His acting is amazing!!! That scene shows just how talented he is. Yeah, he won an oscar for it. That is one of the best performances I've ever seen in a movie.

  • That scene is so powerful. He's drooling and then when he yells "Oh God!" I got goosebumps. You feel like Sean Penn is the girl's actual father.

  • dammit, the cop wasnt fast enough
