  • Love ankle locks one of the most difficult to break

  • Great teacher! Thanks for the video, I really apperciate it!

  • he sounds like will ferrell

  • I'm a Mma fighter an this is my move. I'm none as a striker but u no

  • could you do it in a fast way or as a counter ?

  • hum, what did you say?

  • Nice. Calm explanation.

I could be wrong, but if this is a bjj demo, under ibjjf referee training rules, the part of his outer (left) leg cant cross over the other guys thigh is illegal. Right?

Its Important for people to understand you tube BJJ has to be taken in context of rules to play safe and avoid DQ.

    Cheers

  • if you do this...and urr a black belt and do submission wreslting the next year your going undeafeted

  • Someone say sumthin? Lol...

  • what did you say? lol

  • The only thing thats sucks for this particular move competition wise is your going to get DQ for reaping the knee! If he were to lay on the same side on the leg he is attacking he would be fine.

  • i want to.. what'd you say?

  • Damn good stuff!

  • "wut did cha say?" *tap tap tap* lol

  • the fuck is this, where is the real ankle lock?

  • ALONG COMES HIS FRIENDS AND START KICKING THE HELL OUT OF YOU FOR BEING OFF GUARD AND ENTANGLED ON THE FLOOR WHILE YOU WERE CARELESS DEALING WITH AN ANKLE LOCK ON YOUR BACK!

  • is 15 an ok age to learn BJJ? My mom thinks I'm too young to learn this so I need a verification to show what is a eligible age to learn this

  • Comment removed

  • @dan19961 Personally I believe 15 is a perfect age to start training, I'd even say 13 is fine. I understand other martial arts are a little different to BJJ, but you see kids as young as 4 doing all kinds of self-defence, and that's all Jiu Jitsu really is, another form of defence/offence. I say go for it, by the time you're 18 you'll be a very efficient on the ground,

  • @dan19961 im fifteen, and ive been doing grappling since 14 my mom comes to matches and comps and will watch everyone but me. she refuses to watch me get "hurt" its just moms being moms. lol. thats how all moms are bro. and yes, it is a good age to learn, your still young enough that we still have some natural flexibility. show her this if you want. my arguement with my mom is this, "what are the disadvantages of being able to defend yourself," especially cuz im small for highschool.

  • @dan19961 I wish I had started when I was 15.

There was a 14 year old kid at my boxing class the other day, and he came in with near-perfect form and really great speed. Obviously he still had a lot to work on, but you could tell he definitely trained before.

Just make sure you find a good teacher, ask questions, and don't be afraid to tap while you're rolling.

    Good luck man

  • Great instructional however, I feel this is more of an Achilles leg lock

  • Great instructional however, I feel this is more of an achellies leg lock

  • what did he say?

  • JESUS FRIGGING CHRIST JUST GRAB THE LEG AND KABOOM THERES A BROKEN ANCLE. counter DO A BARREL ROLL

  • excelente gracias..!

  • iM JUST WATCHING PORN

  • great vid

  • awesome vids

  • this guy is amazing

  • i have been looking for more sambo submissions is there somewere on your series that i can find more besides the sambo leg lock

  • boom

  • KEITH OWEN IS THE MAAAAAAAAAAN!

  • wtf matt! stop screwing around!!#!@

  • ohh im sorry did someone say something?

  • ER WHAT????????????????

  • this dude is funny

  • I'm learning as he talks, i really love this tenth planet stuff

  • whats the back foot look like?

  • haha..."suuuper tight"

  • He is a good teacher.

  • I love how this guy demonstrates this submission. Great teacher. People will excel with this guy around teaching. A natural!

  • instructor dude is awesome

  • lol, i dont think i would be able to keep a straight face in his class. "what did you say? have a question?" haha

  • get this off? anyway, i have never seen anyone submit to an ankle lock because they can never apply it to an active opponent? i dont care what his hand does? like chop you in the throat, lances the eye? idk, i think these are valid points.

  • @opticannon the move works bro do u train at all???

  • i stand firm in my statement. the question i pose to you is that have you ever applied the tech. to anyone who was fighting back hard? i hate using ufc as a referrece but, i rarely see them even trying for it and when they do they pay. like the guys says in the vid if his leg was here we are equal. and maybe his leg goes here. and if he doesnt put his feet there. to many maybes.

  • yes i have tapped people with it during a live rolling sesion, but i do see your point an it is valid. Although i have tapped people with it, i have also had it on and gave it up,because like you said most the time it doesnt work on some who in fighting out of it. respect bra

  • yeah, in a rolling session i would have to say yes in that case. yet, im talking about all out with strikes. now, about the lock itself? oh, hell yes itll make you give up the ghost for sure. my meaning was being able to apply it in the first place. peace

  • @opticannon

dude someone "fighting back hard", lets say on top of you trying to punch you while you are on your back. there are techniques like open guard sweeps, if you get wrist control you could shoot for an armbar, or pull him in and triangle him (if you didnt sweep and mount him in the first place) there is no such thing as a technique with a 100% succes rate..

  • wicked sweet video..i love using foot locks, ppl always neglect their lower body, nd become so vulnerable to different number of attacks

  • he really seems like a helpful teacher.

  • thats how all teachers should be.

  • @iamtyler21 haha true... if you dun do well or screw up they put you in an ankle lock :D.. would be nice tapping like a school girl :P

  • what do you when its cross legged? i cant find a video that explains it. thats the side i usually end up in and i cant figure out wat to do

  • watch the mike ciesnolevicz-neil wain fight. that's how exactly mike c. finished it.

  • inverted heel hook, look for that

  • "what did you say???" haha, awesome

  • that guy seems like a really cool teacher

  • @powrboy77 i agree he seems cool:D

  • that was funny

  • be careful with this move! I guess that goes without saying to most, but I got this lock on my sparring partner and arched my back to fast with a good squeeze and his ankle snapped right away before he could even tap

  • and then you came online to brag about it?

  • thats because you do not know how to roll 60-70%% training is not about who wins, it about being able to see positions and working your technical skill.

  • Yeah this guy explains things very well

    he knows what hes doing!

  • come to New York City, this is a great coach.

  • I fucking love Americans lol

    quality instructor as well lol

    awesome vid

  • I am now going to feature several different instructors to really add to the sub 101 data base. Look for instructors in BJJ, Judo, Sambo, MMA and TMA to appear on SUB 101. We have a lot in store and we are really going to blow things up. Thanks for the support bro!

  • wut is tma?

  • Hello, did you say something? ah hahaha

  • what'd you say?

    haha

  • haha this guys funny

  • great explanations!

  • This sub is great not alot people are able to stop a good leg, ankle, heel lock they just don't look for it like they should GREAT SUBMISSION I wish we had a teacher like this around here

  • very good basic tec. being on the side and looking "up" are things that are onften forgotten.

  • from the start position of this I've seen where the knee is on the inner thigh and you sweep you leg over like you did but you lean forward and it puts enormous pressure on the knee very fast.

additionally i think the heel hook would be the easier route from the position you are in. when you are lifting to enter the ankle lock the person can use your momentum to their advantage for an easy escape.

  • Dang it Judo, why is this illegal? Oh well, all that means is I need to watch these videos in order find a way to defend and apply the leg lock to those I roll with outside of my Judo class.

  • it's usually illegal because heel hooks and ankle locks can cause injury before the opponent even feels the pain.

  • Most grappling tournaments I've competed in only banned ankle/leg attacks for novice and beginner divisions.

You are right, however- you will usually only feel pain from this kind of attack after the damage is done.

When I roll, I usually lock up an ankle/leg lock and then let go before my opponent even thinks about it, then I just continue to roll. Learning isn't just about getting the other guy to tap out.

  • haha what did u say?

this guys a good teacher man i want him 2 teach me

  • nice explained it great

  • cool vid im gonna use this the next time i roll at class

  • Stephan Kesting, on his "High Percentage Leglocks" dvd, gives the same explanation word for word including the "someone calls my name and I look back and say 'hello'"-thing.

    Strange.

  • I find that these kind of 'verbal tips' or 'analogies' float around a lot in the martial arts. You never know who coined the terms or phrase but they sure do help you remember the details. Its like position before submission I suppose. Kesting has some great stuff...very methodical in his method as well.

  • I agree, Kesting is great in the way he explains the achilles leg lock.

And I'm sure you're right, his description of exactly how to apply it is probably common.

  • @Submissions101 that guy seems pretty cool I wish my teacher was funny like that

  • @Submissions101 Um, he has Kesting's dvd. lol

  • EXCELLENT tutorial.

  • If he does not tap then transition to the heel hook....

  • so where is the effect and what is the consequence if no tap?

  • what did u say? greatttttttttttttttt lol great teacher

  • great tutorial

  • Nice job Mr. Keith!

  • awesome. keep em coming :)

  • what did you say? hahaha i love tht part

  • Great tutorial. I finally see the proper leverage. Thank you.

What happens if the guy doesn't tap?

  • His ankle will break

  • you break his ankle if he doesnt tap

  • If he doesn't tap then you may be too high up on the ankle. Attempt moving your lock lower down on the achillies tendon and then apply the pressure. If you have the lock correctly in place and he doesnt tap then you will probably feel your opponents tissue tearing and or broken ankle.

  • lol. Then this tutorial FAILED

  • im guessing you would just break his ankle.

not your fault he wouldnt tap

"win by dumbass thinking he's stronger than the physics of an ankle lock" is what the announcer would say

  • *snap*

    that's what happens....

  • If he doesn't tap, you dislocate his ankle... or possible tear his achilles Tendon.

My Girlfriend laughed at the first 20 seconds because of all the sexual innuendos that could be made... but thats why I love her.

    Great video.... Didjusay somethin'

  • hahaha nice

  • Man such a great teacher thanks for the vids

  • Very nice Keith!!!

  • Simple enough

  • good video as always
