I had a lovely chat with GOD this morning. We discussed the various translations of the Bible and how silly it is that people are more concerned about the literal meaning of a book with 6 accepted versions. He likes irony. GOD also said these "mean venomous Phelps people" are in for a big surprise. GOD said the PHELPS BLDG-a VERY special place in Hell just for Phelps family and followers-is being renovated and will be ready and waiting. HE intends to have a very long chat with the Phelps. :-)

@PlayinDemVidya Pretty much the only thing they follow in the Christian Bible is Psalm 5:5 (New International Version): "The arrogant cannot stand in your presence; you hate all who do wrong" -- and they throw it out of context. They don't seem to realize that God is both a god of compassion and contempt.
This is coming from a pantheist... but that's beside the point.

Well said. You can't really deny that what the WBC actually is in the Bible. The only real criticism I have on them is that the Bible teaches that you must first remove the log from your own eye instead of trying to remove the splinter from another. In other words, not to judge their fellow man, for only God can judge them.
But you're right, 95% of Christians I meet are not Christians at all, they're hypocrites.

Actually, the WBC follow the Old Testament, not the new. So they don't follow the bible as to when Jesus came on the scene. Not at all.
Jesus said to love one another, and be good to neighbours etc.
Jesus also said blessed are they who mourn. So the Phelps are just off their rocker.
But the OT, yes a mean angry God there, but it was ANCIENT male thoughts and that is why there is a NEW Testament. But I wish the OT was not attached to the NEW.

Nevertheless they don't seem to understand what they do is wrong on humanistic level and I'm sure Jesus would have a problem with people who harass other people.
