@GT500Shelby07 hey buddy, there is no mustang that is faster then a zr1, not even with "a few mods" they will not go over 200mph, and a zr1 does over 200mph stock, so stfu. a zr1 hangs with supercars no problem, and supercars cost $250,000 + and a zr1 only cost $120,000. thats a good deal. a zr1 isnt just for speed either, a zr1 will dominate your mustang out on the track. because mustngs are heavy as hell, and corvettes are light as hell. so they have good handling too.
tham that was some racing really close match. I expected better from the mustang though since it's supercharged and has double overhead cam. the corvette did good for being stock no supercharger NA power. I myself dont belive on turbos or superchargers But naturally aspirated engines those are the real cars they dont need turbos or superchargers to keep up.

@bgj150 Yea It has a smaller motor but way more horsepower than the vette and more torque The vette's c6 z06 are barely getting to 480hp and 450sh torque and some dont even make it there and the Gt500 gets little over 540hp and over 500 torque so yea its heavier but has more torque and horsepower to compensate for the extra weight and we all know the mustang gt500 has the best technology double overhead cam whats better than that what if the vette had dual cams then race over, great cars though.

@ThisWillLeaveaMark I beg to differ. It wouldn't hook up. As the owner of a C5 Z06, it's bad enough getting my old 295s to hook making 405bh let alone what the GT500 has on the back which are like 275s with more power at the wheels (and oddly enough it's still slower, which is much more noticeable around a track.) The GT500 is more of a buy me to say you have it vehicle. My Z will be making a little over 850 once I finish buttoning up my turbo with what are now 335s on the back, gonna be fun.
@TheZohaun If you look at the vette's last run there was dirt on its side of the track (0:30) and not on the mustang's side. So I'm going by its first run, which was a 11.75. I don't see how the vette could've lost 0.2 of a second. The mustang started to catch up when the vette hit that dirt spot, so that clearly affected its time.

this is a reasonably good race for an unfair match up. 4 seat steel bodied mustang against a 2 seater fiberglass corvette. power numbers dont mean much when your passed 300 anyway. its all about tire, suspension, and mostly-the driver. the shelby probably wasnt worked if at all, they are very capable from the factory. yes the vette spun too and could have run better. fact of the matter is, this time it didnt. plus id like to see the vette driver take his wife and kids for a joyride in his car.

@fasst0385 The gt500 is moded is some fashion. The 2011 gt500 only traps 117-118mph with that being 5mph faster than the 07 models (due to suspenion advancements, aluminum engine now, and different tires) and yes that shelby is working very hard to pull that time. The zo6 is the one that isn't worked, it seen them trap 123-125 at 11.7 all day.
@BEBNC1 only that is not a 2011 shelby, and suspension and tires dont make a difference in trap speed. power and weight is all that it comes down to. and the corvette only trapped 1mph faster. either way, a stock z06 will beat a stock gt500. but in real life, it comes down to the driver and the luck of the draw so to speak. in this case, ford prevailed.

I was just mentioning what shelby modified since the 2010 gt500 to make it a better car. In a perfect world the z06 is faster, as it should be, with that said, I most definitely agree that ultimately b/t cars like these it does come down to driver capabilities.

I dunno man, the Z06 got the hole shot & the GT500 still ran it down. I'm pretty sure that GT500 has D/Rs on it with a pulley/CAI/tune(2007-2009 GT500 would never run high 11s at 121 stock). A 3900lb car running down a 3100lb car is very impressive. I'm sure the Shelby has to be running 80-120 more rwhp to run that Z06 down. Stock Z06s put about 440 to the wheels, so that GT500 must make at least 520ish rwhp to run a 121 trap speed given it's weight.
I know 2 guys that have a C6 zo6 and a Gt500 and if you put them right next to each other, its clear what the zo6 has that the Gt500 does'nt... power to weight ratio is everything boys but personally I'd rather have the Gt500.

@GT500Shelby07 hey buddy, there is no mustang that is faster then a zr1, not even with "a few mods" they will not go over 200mph, and a zr1 does over 200mph stock, so stfu. a zr1 hangs with supercars no problem, and supercars cost $250,000 + and a zr1 only cost $120,000. thats a good deal. a zr1 isnt just for speed either, a zr1 will dominate your mustang out on the track. because mustngs are heavy as hell, and corvettes are light as hell. so they have good handling too.

@bgj150 Yea It has a smaller motor but way more horsepower than the vette and more torque The vette's c6 z06 are barely getting to 480hp and 450sh torque and some dont even make it there and the Gt500 gets little over 540hp and over 500 torque so yea its heavier but has more torque and horsepower to compensate for the extra weight and we all know the mustang gt500 has the best technology double overhead cam whats better than that what if the vette had dual cams then race over, great cars though.

As the owner of a C5 Z06, it's bad enough getting my old 295s to hook making 405bh let alone what the GT500 has on the back which are like 275s with more power at the wheels (and oddly enough it's still slower, which is much more noticeable around a track.) The GT500 is more of a buy me to say you have it vehicle. My Z will be making a little over 850 once I finish buttoning up my turbo with what are now 335s on the back, gonna be fun.

@TheZohaun If you look at the vette's last run there was dirt on its side of the track (0:30) and not on the mustang's side. So I'm going by its first run, which was a 11.75. I don't see how the vette could've lost 0.2 of a second. The mustang started to catch up when the vette hit that dirt spot, so that clearly affected its time.

But you might want to do learn why they actually took the bailout if you think it was because "nobody was buying them"..that being said ford deserves whee they are they've picked itup tremendeously in the last few years..I'm not a narrow minded biased ignorant fanboy.

@TheZohaun the terminators are bulletproof..I still think they're the best mustang to date..that motor stock can handle so much power it's great..that block will never crack and the internals are good for so much more boost than they run..the new ones are definitely up there though they're hands down a great update to the 2005 which was still a good car just needed the power updates

i have enough common sense to recognize that both vehicles are amazing pieces of machinery and i respect both cars. i would drive a z06 anyday but if i had to chose between the two i would go with the mustang always because im a mustang enthusiast. people like us need to stop fighting because these are the awesome cars. fight with the ricers because theyre the ones polluting the streets with ugly ass cars that sound like my ass at 7.am.

this is a reasonably good race for an unfair match up. 4 seat steel bodied mustang against a 2 seater fiberglass corvette. power numbers dont mean much when your passed 300 anyway. its all about tire, suspension, and mostly-the driver. the shelby probably wasnt worked if at all, they are very capable from the factory. yes the vette spun too and could have run better. fact of the matter is, this time it didnt. plus id like to see the vette driver take his wife and kids for a joyride in his car.

@fasst0385 The gt500 is moded is some fashion. The 2011 gt500 only traps 117-118mph with that being 5mph faster than the 07 models (due to suspenion advancements, aluminum engine now, and different tires) and yes that shelby is working very hard to pull that time. The zo6 is the one that isn't worked, it seen them trap 123-125 at 11.7 all day.

@BEBNC1 only that is not a 2011 shelby, and suspension and tires dont make a difference in trap speed. power and weight is all that it comes down to. and the corvette only trapped 1mph faster. either way, a stock z06 will beat a stock gt500. but in real life, it comes down to the driver and the luck of the draw so to speak. in this case, ford prevailed.

@fasst0385 Yes I agree with that, but tires most certainly do make a difference in trap speed, especially in the 1/8th. I was just mentioning what shelby modified since the 2010 gt500 to make it a better car. In a perfect world the z06 is faster, as it should be, with that said, I most definitely agree that ultimately b/t cars like these it does come down to driver capabilities.

clearly the z06 ran a 11.75 agianst the gto and the gt500 ran a 11.85 agianst the z06.... and the gt was modded. so i dont know how everyone is saying it kicked the vettes ass haha

I dunno man, the Z06 got the hole shot & the GT500 still ran it down. I'm pretty sure that GT500 has D/Rs on it with a pulley/CAI/tune(2007-2009 GT500 would never run high 11s at 121 stock). A 3900lb car running down a 3100lb car is very impressive. I'm sure the Shelby has to be running 80-120 more rwhp to run that Z06 down. Stock Z06s put about 440 to the wheels, so that GT500 must make at least 520ish rwhp to run a 121 trap speed given it's weight.

I know 2 guys that have a C6 zo6 and a Gt500 and if you put them right next to each other, its clear what the zo6 has that the Gt500 does'nt... power to weight ratio is everything boys but personally I'd rather have the Gt500.

The vette looks like it backed up too far in the water box and slammed into the wall. The vette looks like a wreched fiiigure all whopped up fighting itself. It aint got no clean transitions in the lines. It looks like 3 different cars melted together liek a grilled cheese. The front came off the movie Cars.
Wouldn't drive a vette. Everybody and his damned brother owns one. If I were given a brand new Z06 I'd bust the rear glass out of it and use it to haul drt around my property.

@pumped03 i like corvettes not specifically the Z06 but u do c a hell of a lot more mustangs and besides tht if anything the corvette is under rated u look at some more vidz u c the vette beating lambos, ferraris, ford gt's, mustangs, just about anything u match it to it can beat not saying any car cant do that but for only being bout $60,000 its hell of a lot more worth your money rather than buying a rip off like a lambo for like $200,000 and since its faster than a mustang i say its worth it!
