hmmm if your American then you will know nothing? ok well first of all i am American and i am a grade 4 piper playing with the pipe band and i am only 15 so....i do believe that you are wrong my good friend. i dont mean to sound pissy about it but i just wanted to make a point...
ooh its ok...I've made comments like that myself...i love on the border of Arkansas and Missouri...yea...i have never been to Scotland but i do hope that someday soon i will be competing at the worlds bagpipe competition so yea but from pictures and what i have heard i think that it seems amazing and i hope to see it someday.
cool but why are you so interested in Scotland when its sooooo cold in winter although the snow is fun to play with.
By the way if you look at a Scotland map and you find Aberdeen (east-coast) and you see an image of a plane coz its an airport and thats where I liv its called Dyce
he probably means like grace note scales or something but then again you are right only 9 notes....i don't think he really is a bagpipe instructor..... 2 years? hmmm...
Look at his other videos. His drones aren't tuned, his fingers are often bent, and the such. The expert villag saxophone player was also a noob. I'm not sure where expert village gets their experts.
He didn't say it takes 2 years, just that it is not uncommon for beginners to take 2 years. My experience when I lived in the states was that many adult players dragged on for a lot longer than 2 years! I had long lessons and practiced hard, and was up 6 months. I would agree that if one is still unable to move to the pipes after 2 years, a problem exists. Big shortage of good tutors in the states, and many tutors are actually poor players. 2 years shouldn't be necessary, though, as a rule.
I am assuming that this is veddy dry humor.

I have a friend who says there isnt really a set time for chanter, once you are comfortable with the fingering then move to the full set
