@thar777 Not the F-18 for the love of God. The Rafale or the Gripen would be two perfect candidates. Both are supreme air-superiority fighters, both are amazing at multi-roll capabilities. The Gripen is the highly-reliable, high-performance cost-effective fighter which has no problems dealing with F-16's at all. During the Nevada Red-flag exercise, 2 Gripens engaged 6 USAF aggressors and managed to shoot down all of them without loosing any of its own. It's also gotten 2 sim. kills on the EF.
@25kasi Mig 35 will not win under any circumstances. M-MRCA tands for medium- MULTI role combat aircraft which no Mig series, by any stretch of imagination is. It's more of an interceptor with some bombs strapped on which is not the same thing. Mig 29/35 lacks in fuel load, payload, sensors, avionics, EW and ECM suites and weapons. It has the least chances of all other contenders. Sorry to burst your bubble.
I guess it wud b too quick rite nw to rule out MiGs.
They r STILL IN DEVELOPMENT n therefore all d shortcomings u noted might b worked on.
Moreover, who knows v might add on some Israeli, French & german technology n make d MiG-35s as "MiG-35 MKI"..howzz tht.
Talking about sensors n avionics, ZHUK AE is the most advanced radar offered to IAF in MMRCA n tht is by MIG. Secondly, it is the only jet with an AESA radar to which India can hv 100% access. F-teens wont cm wth such privilages
@SabertoothEversoris dude f/a 18 super hornet meets all of indian requirments and india does not mention full ToT to be mandatory. the amount of tot on super hornet exceeds MRCA requirements!
Buddy, i suggest u some serious research on some informative forums. The biggest drwback with American jets is tht they r "American Jets". Now having said tht i mean, do u expect them to let the IAF hv access to their Radar Codes, the Engine Tech etc. Should i remind u tht US does not shares some of these techs evn with its closest allies like UK, Australia, Japan, Korea etc, let alone India. I guess u r misinformed but COMPLETE ToT is a 'mandatory requirement' of the MMRCA.
And another big drawback wud b the American tendency to put sanctions at critical times. INS Jalashwa has become a liability for our Navy cz of strings attached with it & India wud b further wary of buying crucial defence stuff from America. I'm nt against F-18, its an awesome machine n i personally admire it but thn i guess politics will keep it at bay frm entering IAF.
Rafale would rape pakistan's F 16

RAFALE IS THE COOLEST !!!

I think Rafale will bag the contract. Nothing against typhoon, but the price tag of Typhoon will make it a big draw

Rafale rox. Rafale for India.

0.34: Swedish Draken lol! Ups!(However.. It WAS a good fighter...back in the 50, 60 and 70s!)

@Badger071 Swedish Gripen, not Draken. Listen carefully before commenting. The Grippen embodies the latest technology.

@sadhaklal ok..but I am almost sure she says Swedish Draken at 0.34. Well..no big deal..they show pictures of the Gripen.

No Typhoon Eurofighter for India. The pakis know this jet intimately as they are flying it with the saudi air force.
Better for India to opt for French Rafale of US F 18.
