  • LMMS does have a bit of a learning experience, but I find it somewhat easy. (You really can't break anything. Well, not if the volume on your computer isn't up too loud. If it crashes, there's usually a recovery file for the last song too.) It does have its technical hurdles, but you have to consider that this software isn't considered fully finished either.

For some more crazy fun (and technical exploration) dive into the LFOs, automations, and LADSPA effects with FX channels.

  • Soundfont is a file (.sf2) that contain a bank of samples that replaces normal MIDI. So, when you download a soundfont, you are actually downloading a lot of samples. They open with Sf2 PlayerThe best one (according to the majority of soundfont users) is SGM-V2.01.sf2.

VST stands for Virtual Studio Tecnology. They are, in fact, plugins (.dll) like the other plugins that comes with LMMS. They can be instruments (VSTi, opens with VeSTige) or effects (like LADSPA, opens with FX Mixer).

Select an intrument you want to use then click an empty square in the song editor. After that just right click and select piano roll.

  • nice job

    what program is this?

  • @SyntekkTeam

Linux multimidea studio. Not really that good I was focusing on technical aspects of the program rather than the music.
