I think you guys should make it as a stand alone box, rather than having the regulator hanging off the side. Make a easy quick disconnect fitting to mount on the side panel.
@MrJetjoe i know! i have always been wondering for like 5 years "when are they going to make a generator that will run on a batter and charge itself up while running and producing power to run stuff with." i attempted to make one using a 1hp electric motor and a car battery and a old genetator. i was kinda successful but it didnt run to long. and it was big and heavy.
propane powered is quieter then on gas. i know because i have one and natural gas can be plumb direct to a permanate source of fuel like off you natural gas line in your house.
I manufacture Honda powered generators running dedicated propane and duel fuel.... No problems if you keep oil changes regular and and dont work them too hard continuously! But really... Why a 1kW Honda running gas? What a waist of effort not to mention the very minor saving in fuel costs especially after paying for the conversion!
The EU10 was designed for portable use and never designed to except gas let alone continious petrol operation. The engine has an alluminium bore which will definately wear out alot quicker using gas! If you want to make a difference, put an EU20 on gas, it may last a little longer otherwise if its efficiency you want buy a diesel!
I get what your saying - wear factors, no real efficiency savings. i get that.
But you missed the point - What if there were NO GASOLINE available? What then? Having a generator that has multiple fuel sources is better than just a generator that uses one fuel source.
i have a 600wt generac that i converted myself that has several hundred hours on it ...the only drawback is a 10/20% reduction in power compaired to refined oil....
Do you have any Honda generators, running on propane, that have a significant amount of run time on them? I have heard that valve guides can have problems when running on propane.
Any fine tuning or other tips when running bi or tri-fuel?? Do you find that it's louder running propane?
Can you make a video showing the install of the kit on a 2000

How long can the generator run on that propane tank?
thebigblackstallion 8 months ago
You might need to run a system like flash lube to keep the valve seats from wearing. LP is a dry fuel, no lubrication.

Does the propane tank also require a regulator? Can't you just connect the tank with a hose to the gas demand regulator?

Well, what if gasoline isn't available, ever think of that?
Better to have multiple options, even if you don't use them.
