  • the dad is such an ass-hole!

hello your daughter is dying help her!!

  • @97nglamour

They do get hungry, and tired. The thing with anorexia is that no matter how much they want to eat, and they do want to, they can't. It's just not within their control. After you've been hungry for a bit, it starts to go away, it starts to get easier to forget about. And by that time they've lost any control they might have had. The anorexia doesn't give them any choice, and the pain of hunger is nothing in comparison to the fear it gives them of gaining even one pound. I hope tha

  • This is above and beyond, how can they take it this far to realize what she is doing that to herself?

  • Her brothers love her so much!

  • @idfgirl18 watch "a warning from beyond the grave." That woman got to 40 lbs. Look at Samantha kendall and aimee moore. They were at 60 and 70 lbs (samantha was really tall). Read Wasted, Marya Hornbacher's autobiography. She gets to 52 lbs. I've seen other cases, too. It may not be as frequent, but it does happen. You don't have to be super short. That's what happens when your body's eaten away all the fat and muscle, and after your bones waste away from osteoporosis.

  • does she have a eating disorder in real life?

  • @0448367766 she had anorexia in real life, they did this movie on her way to recovery and filmed it backwards

  • Eating disorders are about control.

  • i could never do what that lawyer is doing xxxx

  • i know this is not a funny movie but that bit about her parents having to pay for her daughter's lawyer is funny lol !!!!!

  • they keep calling nancy "skin and bones." she is super skinny but compared to the 60 and even 40 lb girls i've seen, she isn't skin and bones. of course this doesn't mean that she doesn't have a serious problem that shouldn't be addressed asap.

  • @xxxfantasyhorse 40 lbs?? It can't be possible

  • @TheHateQueen it is. with really serious anorexia, your bones start to get eaten away because there's no more fat and muscle for your body to feed on. you also get osteoporosis (sp?) because you're not getting enough nutrients. type in "rudine" and click on the vid that's called "a warning from beyond the grave" and you'll see how bad ana can actually get.

  • @xxxfantasyhorse its a movie... i doubt theyd make the actress get down to 40 lbs.....

  • Why in hell didnt the parents take her to court sooner, better yet why didn't the doctor say something when nancy left the hospital in the first place? I thought it was obvious from like part 5 of the movie that her parents should have thought about taking her rights away from her.

  • The blonde haired bro is a wee bit close to Nancy. O-o Just saying.

  • such a strange illness. . . Food some of us love it too much and some of us hate and some of us fear it hmmm

  • I know everyone's entitled to representation in a court of law and everything but how in good conscience could a lawyer represent a girl who wants to let herself waste away and die? But the only thing in this life left that we have full authority over is our body. Who's to say she doesn't have the right to want to die? (Thinking about Dr. Kavorkian... but she's not dying of cancer or something, she's dying because she can't eat.) I don't know which side of this one I land on.....

  • @KDVx3such an important argument!

  • @KDVx3 The problem is, if the law starts denying people representation on the basis that they're 'clearly' insane or guilty, etc, it's a slippery slope. As the English lawyer Sir William Blackstone said, "It is better that ten guilty persons escape, than that one innocent suffer". The whole notion of insanity is outdated anyway. Some psychologists now think 'insanity' is a sane reaction to an insane world. Also, people should have the right to harm themselves, provided they don't harm others.

  • Just let her die. Darwinian loser.

  • @godzillaqueen Man, I'm glad you're not God!!

and before you say "you don't believe in God" it doesen't matter, have some compassion dude.

You have children?... when you do, it changes your whole outlook on life and people; it teaches you patience, forgiveness and unconditional love :)

  • my best friend is anorexic, but she just denys it. and i want to talk to her 'bout it, but i don't know what to say... :(

  • @INGEDIZ she may hate you but you should go to her parents. she'll thank you in the long run. trust me..

  • The anorexia center that she went to is nothing at all like that. They would have made her eat every meal. They would have watched her and made sure she did it, she wouldn't have been able to hide it.

  • if someone is forced into a mental health facility for being suicidal, rehab for drug abuse why not force someone with an eating disorder to seek treatment?

  • @hipsterpad EXACTLY!!

  • Nancy's lawyer is beautiful

  • people in these stupid comments keep talking about the mother, when you fricking see a girl about to die, THIS HAPPENS EVERY DAY!!!!!!!!! YOUR JUST GOING TO CRITIZES PEOPLE LIKE THIS UNTIL THEY DIE!?!?!?!?

  • This is what actresses (her mom) looked like before botox and fillers.

  • @ChristinaAdamiec, exactly! and that's why the mother is so skinny, in 'real life' she has a severe illness herself!

  • The actress who plays the mother is battling leukemia

  • I would have told her oh you are 18 ok so get the hell out of my house! Or leave her in a shelter! Do you want to live at home??? Then do the treatment!!!!!

  • @The80sTube that is the most messed up thing ive ever heard. you KNOW she would rather be homeless then eat. they alienate everyone to lose weight.

  • Man her brothers are hot!

  • haha 2:52 google captioning

  • they got her a lawyer? i think thats stupid

  • Leukemia is blood system disease , otherwise it is called "white" cancer, when leukocites suffer from cancer. It's very bad and serious, human organizm always becomes skinny then.

  • great movie

  • My stomach is grumbling right now like it has been for the past 3 days and i'm watching this, confused about Nancy when i'm doing the exact same thing. People with eating disorders, or at least i think, have the most hypocritical good-intentions.

  • The dad needs to stop being such a idiot and get a lawyer so that she won't die. If that was my kid, I wouln't rest till she was eating normally.

  • @MadameMabinogi it's not that easy no parent was to do that to their own child.

  • I love how the dad is so clueless all the time, like hes really trying hard to grasp anything at all. When he simplified the moms 3 minute tantrum about having to get a lawyer:"you mean I have to go into a court room saying my daughter´s crazy??" Haha Hes incredibly sweet and loving though:)

  • I love how the dad is so clueless all the time, like hes really trying hard to grasp anything at all. When he simplified the moms 3 minute tantrum about having to get a lawyer:"you mean I have to go into a court room saying my daughter´s crazy??" Haha

  • im a recovering anorexic but just watching nancy move so delicately.. i know that feeling. i know how she feels.. your bones aching, light headed and it actually hurts.. it hurts so much to walk and the emptiness is almost unbearable.. kidneys aching.. this movie reminds me so much of the pain

  • @GabbyProrsum you will make it. You WILL make it.

  • that sucks that because she's over 18 they have to basically just watch her kill herself. at least with younger girls they could make them get help...

  • i wish i had an older brother

  • These parents are REALLY great at saying the WRONG damn thing EVERY time.

  • why does her boyfriend seem to live at their house?

  • @WeMayBeFreakz what boyfriend??

  • @WeMayBeFreakz Those are her brothers, she doesn't have a boyfriend.

  • It worked for Britney Spears

  • Her voice seemed to change in that one scene. She sounds kind of like Taryn Manning.

  • her bro. and her bf. are allways 2gether i think they are gay ! LOL

  • @RubnBritney uh they're both her brothers.. obviously

  • why dont the doctors just section her under the mental health act instead of going to court? x

  • @jazzanagirl if she gets sectioned it is just for that stay... once they force feed her and get her to a "healthy" weight they have to let her out... if her dad gets power of attorney then he can make decisions for her until she is truly better...

  • @jazzanagirl That act may not have existed back when this happened.

  • @jazzanagirl Or the state they live in might not have that act.

  • @jazzanagirl Because American Laws are different.

  • @jazzanagirl because back then during that time period there wasnt a mental health act

  • every time i see the backyard and the shovel i automatically think they are digging her grave

  • Why does she want to be sick. It does not make sense to me.

  • @aleynabubbles Same reason it would not make sense to me or you as to why someone would want to take drugs or drink 60 beers in a day. Its a disorder of the mind, whether addiction or compulsive and etc..

  • @aleynabubbles She doesn't want to be sick. She has a disease that she has no control over.

  • @Rizoto88 Eat people?? ;)

  • @Rizoto88

it's a difference be healthy and proud, and to be fat and proud..

double chins and chunkiness are nothing to be proud of. Put down the burger and eat a celery stick or something...

  • @heylie13 no offense, but that's not right. some people can't help the double chins or the chunkiness. it's genetics. i mean there are some people who eat to the point of that, but there's also others who can't help the way they look, ya know?

  • @marissanicolexo Very true. I have had to take a corticosteroid for Crohn's Disease, and it gave me chipmunk cheeks, made my stomach bloat, and increased my appetite. It's like the signal to my brain to stop eating was suppressed, and the other side effects made it worse. I would look in the mirror and cry, because I didn't recognize myself. Now that I am off them, I don't look fat anymore. As for the double chin...I think it's because of the meds too, but if it's not, then it's genetics. >_<

  • is this based on a true story?

  • lmao

"so you mean i have to go into a court room and say my daughter is crazy?"

    "incompetant, incompetant is different"

  • her parents are awesome

  • im surprised she can still produce tears.

  • @tigerbaby6

    bahahah

  • Someone needs to smack Nancy right across the face. She says she knows she's sick but she's trying. She can't even put a piece of food in her mouth. Someone needs to hospitalize her against her will. That's the only way she's going to live.

  • they would just have her sectioned and put into a locked ward, strapped down with a naso-gastric tube. thats what they keep doin to me!

  • i hope she dies in this movie.(not literally) but just so that thinspo girls realize that if she keeps up with this that's exactly where it leads to...death.

  • @lozerssexy you don't even understand thiese girls. no offense

  • @RoteFedern right, because you know me and my life.

  • @lozerssexy what has your comment to do with your life? I didn't mean to offend you. i just think you have no idea because a movie doesn't get the thought of death in your head. what if the character dies....no "thinspo"-girl would care...they are so in denial and so desperate to be thin that it simply doesn't matter.

  • if the parents really want her to get better they should just say "fine ur over 18,u dont want help u can't live her anymore!"

that helped me. When i was in nancy's situation my parents said that to me and i refused so they made me leave....after 1/2 a day i came back. They asked me again if i wanted help and i said yes.Im better now (not completely better) but much better than i was

  • the lawyer is mrs bloom from kyle xy!

  • I would love to be that skinny :/

  • @ThebeautyRevolution me too! :(

  • @ThebeautyRevolution me too :( sucks don't it? i'm trying to be that skinny :(

  • @ThebeautyRevolution me too :( but sadly I'm 5'8" and 115 lbs and i look so fat compared to her... ugh i hate my body

  • A popular musician in the 1970s, Karen Carpenter, with all the money in the world ended up dying by the time she was 33 of anorexia. I see dad gave her his wings... he's fallen on hope... as a fighter pilot would say from here on in it's "on a wing and a prayer".

  • i love her brothers

  • I really like this movie...Nancy is quite realistic. 6:28 was all I ever said. I never wanted to tell anyone what I was thinking.

  • This isn't about her right 2 have her disease. S'about the to be Self. Being terrified of the realities of adult life, but not wanting 2 have every decision made 4 you.The sense of helplessness: being told "u will do this" because "u r reasonable" or if that doesn't work - "b.c. we know best" or "b.c. u don't know what u need, we do". & the sense of not being able to say "I DO know what I want, let me!" They never let her learn how to do that w/ little things. So she did it w/ a big 1, hmm?

  • nancy..theyre like stong and nice looking... never seen ANYONE on a unit with nails like that!

  • how on earth do her nails look like that?

  • Who?

  • see above lol posted it in the wrong bit..

  • Oh haha

  • pm me i think i can help.

    just dont harm yourself please.

  • hello.. please help me.. i dont want to relapse into the horrable anorexia.. i hate it. im dieting soo. its going to consist of salads(with olive oil) on it.. friuts and fish monday and fridays.. just tell me what i have to say in my head to make you anorexia does not come back.

  • @shinznay seriously ur getting annoying

  • what did youy take?? are you ok???

  • @shinznay mental institution or ur just being stupid and tryin to get attention...

  • Why does the actress who plays the mother in this movie look almost as skinny as the actress playing the anorexic?

It's a pretty ridiculous contradiction of this movie's message.

  • The actress was struggling with anorexia at the time and the movie was filled backward someone on another part was talking about it......I think in 3...

  • i kept thinking that-infact the mother looks thinner than Nancy

  • @sbellino that's what i was just thinking! lol!

  • @sbellino thats funny i also noiced it her arms r soo thin!!!

  • @sbellino Being very skinny isn't an indication of anorexia. The mom's body type is naturally skinny ,and she probably has a fast metabolism. She also exercises, which probably helps her stay skinny. Also, the mom clearly eats healthy and regularly, so she' not anorexic and doesn't contradict the movie's message.

  • @RaniSyn Very well explained. I would also posit that some of her resistance to Nancy's problem at the beginning might've been how she saw her daughter's body being similar to her own.

  • @sbellino Maybe because she is preoccupied?

  • @sbellino have you also been able to note the fact that nobody in this movie ever fucking eats, except for that scene where all the anorexics sit together in the dining hall and actually DO eat? it's pretty ironic. i really like this movie, but that's something that's just really twisted.

  • @LiefsteCamilla Nobody really eats on tv, the food is plastic and the shots are edited to show time lapse, lol.

  • @sbellino I've found that it's not actually that unusual. My mom is really thin and she's about as thin as I was at my lowest weight yet she always says these things like "Oh, I'm not that thin. I'm perfectly healthy."

  • @sbellino Exactly what I was thinking OMG! HA HA HA! SHE'S WEARING BAGGY CLOTHES TOO EH HEH HEH!

  • @sbellino Her name was Jill Clayburgh. The reason she looked so skinny was because she had cancer.

  • @sbellino the mother suffered from leukemia for quite some time. she passed away a few weeks ago

  • @sbellino The actress who played the mom was sick with cancer........it was not an intentional.

  • @sbellino She had Leukemia.

  • @sbellino She had cancer......

  • @sbellino She was suffering from Leukimia.

  • @sbellino The actress who played the mother was Jill Clayburgh, who was diagnosed with leukemia four years before this film was made. Jill's frame could have been the result of her body's suffering from chemotherapy. Chemo can really debilitate a person's body, inducing a lack of appetite and nausea too. I do see your point, but I think it was just an unintended coincidence. Full kudos to Jill and Tracey for working despite being ill. Unfortunately, leukemia took Jill's life last year ;( RIP xx

  • @sbellino the mother's actress had luekimia.

  • @sbellino

She had cancer at the time, it wasn't an intentional pick for the role.

  • @sbellino She was suffering from chronic luekemia at the time. x

  • @sbellino she was suffering from leukemia

  • @sbellino

acually the actress who played the mother, was suffering from leukemia.

thats why she looks so slim. and the girl playing nancy, was acually recovering from her own e.d in real life. :)

  • It's not fair to the baby when you are still struggling with anorexia, and pregnant as they are not getting the nourishment both need to survive

  • Not true. I've been pretty darn sick myself, and while it was rare I slept and even rarer that I dreamt, I did have one or two. That's probably why they stuck out so much. While it's true malnutrition distrupts regular REM cycles, it doesn't make dreaming impossible. It's just unlikely/hard to remember. I recall a few times I fell into a waking REM, my body was so tired. I didn't dream then, but it was strange all the same. Like falling into a time warp that lasts for a blink. Starvation's odd.

  • False.

I was that sick, and I dreamt about food... pretty much every night. It vary s from person to person

  • I think that's what's best, if the parents don't force her back into the hospital she will die, she's too weak and malnurished now to do everyday things.

  • im pro ana :( no control!

  • i was.

im trying to get better now as i just found out i mightent be able to have kids. but now i cant stop so be careful with urself xxx i hope its worth it

  • Yeah starving themselves like that does make them unable to have kids it messes their body up.

  • Not always unable--just harder and unlikely. A good number end up unfertile, but many go on to have children. Some even get pregnant while still starving. I guess it just depends on each individual's system and body resilience.

There's been some interesting research and news articles contemplating the effects of becoming pregnant while Anorexic. I haven't really read many of them, though. I don't much care for sex or children, so I haven't given it much thought.

  • Like the movie, "Dying to be Perfect" with Crystal Bernard. She was still throwing up even after she got pregnant.

  • Comment removed

  • how can you say you can help me and i asked for advice when youve just ask someone to be your ana buddy. that discusts me.. i asked that quesion 7 months ago to someone and 7 months later i developed a full blown anorexia. its hell.. why do you want that.. anorexia is ahorrable mental illness aswell as bad pyhsical changes.. i lost my peroid for 4 months.. thank god its come back.. im healthy now!

  • @shinznay you don't have to be ana to lose your period... i started doing cross country and I haven't had mine for about 6 months now but there's really nothing you can do about it

  • She kind of looks like Linda Blair in The Exorcist when she's talking to her lawyer...

  • "What are you saying, she's nuts?"

"Oh NO no no no no no no... well, yes." LOL

  • im watching this as an anorexic, but also as a mummy of two, and i dunno, i dunno what i would do if any of my children were anorexic like me, because i love them so much and would want them to eat, but at the same time time, i can see it from her point of view, its rotten, i dont wanna think about that scenario, but watching this has brought that up in me even more, the fear of what would i do if my child had anorexia, and its spurred me more to carry on gaining more weight.

  • good luck i know you can make it : )

  • I love this movie. Thank you for uploading it. Love almost the whole cast, especially the beauriful Teryl Rothery who plays the lawyer, Lenore Molee :D

  • thats nasty!

  • The part where she is talking to her dad about her feelings makes me cry every time. I live how she feels in this seen everyday. I am depressed each day and my emotions are so stressful and painful to me.

  • Oh god, i can tell this film was written by someone who really knows about depression. that line "Where did those feelings go and why can't I get it back?" hits so true.

  • I know, exactly true. I feel empty, dead inside. Ana and Mia are only temp fixes

  • Nancy looks beautiful skinny.

  • i hope you're kidding

  • I love the relationship she has with her brother...

  • giving his daughter his wings was a very symbolic, kind gesture. sometimes the little things make a difference.

  • LOL I thought that stuffed dog was real at first!

  • I love the way Nancy's father speaks. His voice is so smooth.

  • where have i seen that dad b4?

  • Is that lawyer Dr Janet Frasier, from stargate??

  • it is! and the therapist is narim for stargate - haha

  • god...nancy looks so weak

  • must be tough for nancy's lawyer; she knows this girl is dying but has to defend her even though the result of her winning is likely to mean nancy's death.

  • 4:57

I thought that was blood xD

  • omg me too!!!!
