@megamindstorm101 Not quite. : ) Sims help with muscle memory - they make it easier to learn how to fly a real one. But the effect is like someone riding a bike having a leg up on someone who hasn't when learning to ride a 1000cc motorcycle.
I`ve just got aerofly and I having a problem with the up elevator .I cant trim it out, to stop it from climing. I`m using a futaba 7uaf tran, so I fight it to land , its not helping me learn to fly. do you like the sim?
@TheBobby73 why does it matter if it is french or not? microsofts flight simulator has an airbus too are you saying that flight simulator's airbus is fake because it is french?
Hey Mr. Herbert, I really like your vids. Finally, videos that I can actually listen to! (there's some really horrible music on some videos!) I bought a helicopter and am very good at crashing it, need one of those simulators unless you can show me how to connect the Tx to the computer, and actually get it working.
@uglybob6666 My helicopter is always attempting to detroy itself. 1st= blades broke 2nd= feathering shaft=8,9,10,11, all feathin shafts boken 12= maingear 13=feathering shaft + maingear. 14= main gear, feathering shaft, tailbox, blades. 15= esc caught fire. I am not a bad heli flyer my heli just is rigged somehow to crash!
Where can I buy this software? i went to their website they said to buy from ikarus i went there and they said to find a local hobby store I went there and they didnt have it.
Hi Night Flyyer, your vids are so educational thanks alot for your patience and efort. I would like to ask you from where did you get the CH47 Chinook model? I would like to have one for my Aerofly pro Delux too
HaLLO evreybody i got an simulator so i can learn to fly my helicopter but i cannot set the channels on the right way. can somebody please help me or show me how i have to put this settings? i mean its the part why you go to properties and changes stuff. pleaseeeee
i got this software from a freind but the controller is broken so im currently using a usb game pad with those thumb joysticks thingys it works pretty well i must say
Sorry, for being a 'wise ass' a bit (and maybe I will be repeating someone else who wrote this sooner, here, but... if You were trying to explain the 'leaning' of helicopters, You haven't put it complete. Leaning is NOT caused by clockwise (or counterclockwise) main rotor. It is caused by a PILOT :D ...to eliminate the side wash of the tail rotor... Of course it is an indirect result of the turn direction of the main rotor, but it is not a REASON. Sorry, again. and congrats on great video :)
Well what ever it is, model helicopters lean in directions depending on blade rotation.
It is gyroscopic and you will have a tough time telling me otherwise. The point is, they do lean. Big CH53 helis fixed the problem by angling the tail rotor and I worked on them for years.
Of course it depends on rotor direction. By the clockwise rotor, the tail rotor is pushing the air to the right, so You have to lean her to the right a bit, or else she would start to shift to the left. And vice versa. ;)
Nice simulator, thanks for sharing! Small price to pay if it will help keep your models in one piece ; ) As always, Dave, you have much to teach us, and you do it well! Many thanks for all the time you spend putting these videos together :)
with the software can you reinstall it over and over again on a single computer? because the only PC i own is a school laptop and every student gets their own but at the end of the year they f11 them and swipe them completely so i would have to keep reinstalling the software when i got the laptop back but i was unsure if there was a security code on the software that would only let me install it onto the computer once.
Im using the rc controller. You wont learn a thing using a keyboard. Most will work with it, but I suggest getting the one that it comes with. Good luck.
Thanks kindly. Yep, I have done it with a few of my models over the years too. There is lots of stress when you yank full up at flying or diving speed.
Hi Nightflyyer, my question is regarding your Aerofly Pro Deluxe Simulator Transmitter. Is it a Mode-2 setup with the Throttle/Yaw on the left and the Pitch/Roll on the right? Thanks.
Nice video...one comment. The A320 is not by Boeing, but by Airbus. They are two separate, and competitive aircraft manufacturers. Much like Cessna and Mooney, or Bell and Sikorsky.
so in order to do better 3d aerobatics on rc planes you have to move the cg back some? maby that explains why my 3d plane wont do some things. also do you have to ajust the trim so it flies straight or just keep it that way. thanks and great vid.
3d is just a fancy name for doing stunts and aerobatics. All planes do well as is, but to do hovering, you will do best with the tail being slightly heavier with CG moved forward. Thanks and good luck.
Is it true if you can fly a heli on a sim you can fly one in real life ? I have been messing around with an Rc sim called Realflight and I find the 3D heli's responsive and easy to fly.
Can you trim out that right lean on the hughes and does the sim take ground effect into consideration cause it didn't seem like it.
Most people are quite surprised to be able to fly the helis very good on the cheap sims and then try the real one and fail miserably. Sims teach the Basic controls which is good. And if you use Aerofly Pro, with winds and gusts turned on, the sim will teach you the most. But in real life, if the heli gets away, over your head, and behind you, that is when you get the "Pucker factor" of real flying that is not on the sim. You have to figure out immediately how to save it cause there is no reset.
Thanks for introducing me to this simulator. Based on your recommendation I have been training & practising using Aerofly Pro Deluxe and it is great! Thanks Dave
Btw I have finally taken to the skies and am getting good air time, I'm using a Twister Cp V2 Helicopter, similar to the Honey Bee CP2.
I've just ordered a Walkera 1#B off EbaY and Can't wait to further my skills. I love this hobby! =)
hellow nightflyer this is reptalover2008 iam a year in to fling i just got a plan to build a 72 in wing span spitfire gas plain but i cant find a cowl for it maybe you now where to get one
actually there is a way to use a interlink emulator with a joystick.. there are also plugs u can buy to hook up from a real transmitter to usb but u also need the dongle emulator
Not as expensive as 1 hard crash on a $500 airplane or heli. They cost about $200 and can be crashed over and over, still costing only $200. Good luck.
Yes in my opinion and I even have G4. AFPD also won all the top awards for best sim around the globe. They show and list the awards in their ads in the Model airplane mags too.
It wont work with many. It does work on the $19 Esky Sim radio, I know. Aerofly comes with cables to use other real rc radios on, but you have to keep charging those batteries. It is best to get the radio it comes with, in my opinion.
I dunno. That is like trying to fly a plane with no cockpit. Ya just gotta have one. Get the $19 transmitter from ESKY, It comes with the Free FMS program too.
Not very well. You can buy the ESKY transmitter for $19 and it will work with Aerofly. Learning to fly on a keyboard would not ever help you with flying the real models.
good day nightflyyer, ive been flying on aerofly for 2 months now and haven't fly a real 6channel heli yet.only 4 channels.just want to ask if the controls on aerofly has a big difference on controls on a real 6channel heli?got ordered a belt cp and it will arrive next week.
Basically they are the same, except for "Pucker Factor". But if your not using the Transmitter that comes with Aerofly, you may have limited controls when it comes to helicopters. Good luck.
Aerofly is very realistic and mimics all the model's flight characteristics, thus winning all awards. The difference is "Pucker Factor"!
That means, no matter how good you get with a sim., when you go out to fly your $500 machine you will always have that money in your mind (unless your wealthy) and be afraid to instantly re-kit it in a crash.
Crashing the simulator while learning to fly costs you nothing. The price of the Sim is a drop in the bucket compared to crashing the real thing a lot!
hello nightflyer, i told you i'd be on to you. can you tell me what the aerofly consist of.. is it just a program or a control panel. you can see i am a complete novice. i just dont wanna go out and buy the wrong thing. thanks in advance.... Che
No problem. The program is a software program with an RC transmitter similar to a real rc transmitter. Believe me you cannot go wrong with Aerofly, as it won all the top awards around the world for best flight physics and graphics. (they list them in their ads in the RC model mags)
hi!im using aerofly too and i'm using my esky tx that goes on with my lama v4 and dauphin and it works just fine.my friend also tried to use his esky usb controller(a dedicated usb simulator tx from esky)and it works just fine.
I will have to try that, since I have the same TX. They arent that good for helis, because of the 3d switch etc, so it may have limited functions. How do you operate flaps, wing fold, retractable landing gear, inverted heli flying, etc with that transmitter? The basic 4 channels are the same, but I wonder about the other stuff.
well to invert heli,i justpush the trottle down to gain a negative pitch.trottle is calibrated to neutral position halfway to the middle.for landing gears, airbrakes and other stuffs,i use num keys on the keyboard.
Go to Aerofly(.)com. Click on Free stuff. There are several links then and you will have to peruse through each one. Some are German, but you can still see the pictures and figure it out. Remember watch for exe's, as that is how I downloaded the acidreighn virus by mistake, as I thought it was the FMS upgrade. It was not and a hoax and I lost my entire hard drive.
I have aerofly and agree it's the dogs danglies. Flew 15hrs on it then flew my newly built trex 600. I had never flown before that but was able to do high speed figure eights, circles etc on only my 3rd flight. The first flight was to trim out, 2nd to hover, and thats it. Thankyou aerofly.
There is no provision in the software to use a keyboard. It wouldn't teach you much anyway that way, if you want to progress to a real heli. It is best to get it with their transmitter as it runs helis and airplanes and comes with the cable.
Yes, I even have a video up on it. However, Aerofly is much more realistic, and was also voted the most realistic world wide. See their ads in the Mags.
Go to Aerofly(.)com then go up to the Free stuff category. Then you will get several links. I think it is in the second one down. There are 2 in there somewhere.
Not to be a "smarty" but that aircraft is NOT a Chinook, which would be a CH-47 (Army version). It is a CH-46 Seaknight (Navy/Marine Corps). The easiest way to tell the difference is to see the bulge in the fuselage which runs full length of the a/c. On a 46 they are only in the aft portion.
Aerofly calls it a Chinook in their Simularor program! I just passed it on as I read it. If you want to download the free CH46, (I worked at H&MS 46 in the Marine corps for 6 years and am very familiar with this aircraft too) you will have to download the one called "Chinook". Maybe you could e mail aerofly and tell them in German they are wrong, and they will change it.
I wish I knew Deutch. I am part German and barely spechen a bit, see? I am a MAC user, and don't run windows. About the best I can do (I think?) is get a copy of X-Plane, which I believe has RC aircraft in it. Any suggestions? I just bought a CX2, and I'm BRAND new at this. It's HARD at first, for a 40 year old who has no background (all thumbs).
If your mind hasn't been poisoned by other video game controllers, you will learn just fine. It has to be accepted, however that crashing is part of the learning curve. So don't give up and memorize my 9 heli tips.
The first one is recorded, and then you fly around with your recorded flight. It is harder to keep up with the original plane than you think, but very good practice.
The Giles will climb out very well and not stall. It is mostly all in the rudder and elevator control to keep it verticle. I love to fly it, because the center of gravity is moved way back, so it will hover nicely.
I have Real Flight G4 and all previous versions. I also was a beta tester for them and Great Planes when it came out. (see my profile) However, Aerofly was voted best in the world and given an award for it. It is hands down better and my favorite to fly.
Uh... i downloaded a load of hel's and planes (including the blimp(of course:D)) but i cant find the chinook, but first i need to find that flying lawnmower...
ah ha, the other night i was showing my friend how my Aerofly helis where leaning to the right. at 1st i thought i might be a fault in the game but it then occured to me that it could be because of the rotation of the rotors.
thanks for confirming and clearing it up for me. :O)
It is not the lean, but the torque applied from the main rotors on the body. Left turns are not as easy on any heli because the torque naturally tries to turn it to the right.
Why? He is doing what he loves he has been involved in R/C his whole life. And he is teaching people about R/C, doing reviews, Leave Dave alone. He has helped me tremendously. If you don't like it don't watch.
I finally got AFPD, but am having a problem. I would like to set the back TX switch to turn On/OFF throttle hold (like the E-sky TX). It seems every 3D helicopter runs with TH on. I have searched the manual for channel assignment but cannot find how. Do you know how?
I found your thread @ IPACS asking about this a couple of years ago. It seems you solved it with the "Engine" entry in advanced setup. All it does for me assigning it to a different channel is turn the engine off or 100% on. I am not able to get rid of negative pitch for regular flight. Any help appreciated.
Depends what side the pilot is sitting on for the lean, i like to sit on the left when i can because i'm 100kg, n it flies better that way.

hello Nightflyer, just started to view RC toys and am mesmerized. Whats the difference between aerofly and the real models?
Chekeme 3 years ago

Che
Chekeme 3 years ago
No problem. The program is a software program with an RC transmitter similar to a real rc transmitter. Believe me you cannot go wrong with Aerofly, as it won all the top awards around the world for best flight physics and graphics. (they list them in their ads in the RC model mags)

Thanks buddy keep up the good work....Che

Thanks very much night flyer... look out for more questions from me in future as i pursue my new hobbie.

hi!im using aerofly too and i'm using my esky tx that goes on with my lama v4 and dauphin and it works just fine.my friend also tried to use his esky usb controller(a dedicated usb simulator tx from esky)and it works just fine.
ice9fetus81 3 years ago
I will have to try that, since I have the same TX. They arent that good for helis, because of the 3d switch etc, so it may have limited functions. How do you operate flaps, wing fold, retractable landing gear, inverted heli flying, etc with that transmitter? The basic 4 channels are the same, but I wonder about the other stuff.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
well to invert heli,i justpush the trottle down to gain a negative pitch.trottle is calibrated to neutral position halfway to the middle.for landing gears, airbrakes and other stuffs,i use num keys on the keyboard.
ice9fetus81 3 years ago
Dave, where do u download this models from? i cant seem to find them.
Tariq093 3 years ago
Go to Aerofly(.)com. Click on Free stuff. There are several links then and you will have to peruse through each one. Some are German, but you can still see the pictures and figure it out. Remember watch for exe's, as that is how I downloaded the acidreighn virus by mistake, as I thought it was the FMS upgrade. It was not and a hoax and I lost my entire hard drive.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
Thx alot..

ps great vid nightflyer, with great music, one of my fav tunes.

I have aerofly and agree it's the dogs danglies. Flew 15hrs on it then flew my newly built trex 600. I had never flown before that but was able to do high speed figure eights, circles etc on only my 3rd flight. The first flight was to trim out, 2nd to hover, and thats it. Thankyou aerofly.
gtanky 3 years ago
Thats pretty impressive. It takes years for most to learn to do that without a simulator.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
how do i play this without a transmitter
srekr1 3 years ago
There is no provision in the software to use a keyboard. It wouldn't teach you much anyway that way, if you want to progress to a real heli. It is best to get it with their transmitter as it runs helis and airplanes and comes with the cable.

have you flown realflight g3.5? and do you think aerofly is better?
amediastintas 3 years ago
Yes, I even have a video up on it. However, Aerofly is much more realistic, and was also voted the most realistic world wide. See their ads in the Mags.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
have you flown realflight g3.5? and do you think aerofly is better?
amediastintas 3 years ago
Yes, I have them all.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
so is Aerofly better and more realistic than Realflight G3
yamashitatakumi 3 years ago
Yes.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
I love the giles 3d plane and the B17 they are pretty cool and realistic
TheZes2 3 years ago
Thanks. I love to fly that Giles too.

were did you get the blimp
pyro1a 3 years ago
Go to Aerofly(.)com then go up to the Free stuff category. Then you will get several links. I think it is in the second one down. There are 2 in there somewhere.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
thanks

Not to be a "smarty" but that aircraft is NOT a Chinook, which would be a CH-47 (Army version). It is a CH-46 Seaknight (Navy/Marine Corps). The easiest way to tell the difference is to see the bulge in the fuselage which runs full length of the a/c. On a 46 they are only in the aft portion.
tfire67 3 years ago
Aerofly calls it a Chinook in their Simularor program! I just passed it on as I read it. If you want to download the free CH46, (I worked at H&MS 46 in the Marine corps for 6 years and am very familiar with this aircraft too) you will have to download the one called "Chinook". Maybe you could e mail aerofly and tell them in German they are wrong, and they will change it.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
I wish I knew Deutch. I am part German and barely spechen a bit, see? I am a MAC user, and don't run windows. About the best I can do (I think?) is get a copy of X-Plane, which I believe has RC aircraft in it. Any suggestions? I just bought a CX2, and I'm BRAND new at this. It's HARD at first, for a 40 year old who has no background (all thumbs).
tfire67 3 years ago
If your mind hasn't been poisoned by other video game controllers, you will learn just fine. It has to be accepted, however that crashing is part of the learning curve. So don't give up and memorize my 9 heli tips.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
is easy fly 2 the same?
wdf4 3 years ago
The first one is recorded, and then you fly around with your recorded flight. It is harder to keep up with the original plane than you think, but very good practice.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
how dose the giles 202 fly verticl with out stallin?????
choppchopp007 3 years ago
The Giles will climb out very well and not stall. It is mostly all in the rudder and elevator control to keep it verticle. I love to fly it, because the center of gravity is moved way back, so it will hover nicely.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
kool keep it up m8
choppchopp007 3 years ago
Thanks. I will.

Whats you computer specs.....i mean the processor and stuff,i'm buying it and i want to know how strong my computer have to bee to get like you:)
Nice vid!!
Azkiboy 3 years ago
I'm running a 2.8 G Intel duo core processor with 2 gig of ram and a Radion x1300 vid card. The vid card is the most important for this program.
When I made this vid, I was only running a 2.1 processor and 1 gig of ram, and it worked fine too. Thanks kindly.

Trie Real Flight RC Simulator, it´s most real. Greetings.
t0r61 3 years ago
I have Real Flight G4 and all previous versions. I also was a beta tester for them and Great Planes when it came out. (see my profile) However, Aerofly was voted best in the world and given an award for it. It is hands down better and my favorite to fly.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
/watch?v=gqNAiu0MEeI paste this in on the end of youtube. you can see the lean on the heli.
by the way its not mine
forrest225 3 years ago
I did. Ha ha. That guy needs more room.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
My gosh!! Where the hell did you get the chinook!!??
sheldonholy 3 years ago
I downloaded it from aerofly's website, under free stuff. It is in the easyfly model list.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
Uh... i downloaded a load of hel's and planes (including the blimp(of course:D)) but i cant find the chinook, but first i need to find that flying lawnmower...
sheldonholy 3 years ago
I have sent you a link in a pm. The chinook is in the Vtol/Heli Models link.
NightFlyyer 3 years ago
ah ha, the other night i was showing my friend how my Aerofly helis where leaning to the right. at 1st i thought i might be a fault in the game but it then occured to me that it could be because of the rotation of the rotors.
thanks for confirming and clearing it up for me. :O)
*off to download the blimp* hehe

Dave,
What is the best model to practice the HB CP2?
I have d'nloaded a lot of heli's but nothing seems right. The Crown III seems to model the King II OK. I'm surprised that the CP2 has no model.
Thanks,
Jeff
puddud22 4 years ago
Piccolo is the closest to the Honeybee CP2 on the AFPD, as it has the ETRM.
NightFlyyer 4 years ago
PS, you have to reverse the Tail rotor to fly The Piccolo right, as it is reversed from other helis on AFPD.
NightFlyyer 4 years ago
I've inoticed it is easier to make right turns on my T-rex. Making left turns seems harder, Is it just me or is due to the helicopter lean???
jcabb1 4 years ago
It is not the lean, but the torque applied from the main rotors on the body. Left turns are not as easy on any heli because the torque naturally tries to turn it to the right.

wow get a life, your 60 years old? and you have 142 youtube videos? get a life...
secyskiller 4 years ago
Why? He is doing what he loves he has been involved in R/C his whole life. And he is teaching people about R/C, doing reviews, Leave Dave alone. He has helped me tremendously. If you don't like it don't watch.
bbjsw10 4 years ago
Mr. Herbert's got a life, Did you see all of his videos, you might learn something like respect. You probably just hate your parents....
jcabb1 4 years ago
Shame on you! I made all these videos in just 1 year and am retired. Lets see where you are when your 60!
NightFlyyer 4 years ago
lol at your stupidity...dave has forgoton more in his 60 years than you will ever learn.
stretch75090 4 years ago
hey how much did that simulator cost? i was thinking of getting a good one with great graphincs, like realflight, but i need a good value.
how much did you pay for it?
ihor14 4 years ago
They are about $200 with the controller.
Only Aerofly is as good as flying the real models and best for learning. You need a good vid card.
Also, you need their transmitter, unless you have your own heli radio. Check out Aerofly(.)com It's Voted #1 world wide.
NightFlyyer 4 years ago
raelly? i thought realflight g4 was the best, WOW!
ihor14 4 years ago
Nope. Check out their website.
NightFlyyer 4 years ago
oh ok i saw it, yep thats the sim ill be getting, its the same price as realflight, but alot better :P
thanks alot!
ihor14 4 years ago
how do you stop it from leaning?
or does it just always lean?
beatlesfan132 4 years ago
They always lean. It is a natural phenomenon.

Dave,
I finally got AFPD, but am having a problem. I would like to set the back TX switch to turn On/OFF throttle hold (like the E-sky TX). It seems every 3D helicopter runs with TH on. I have searched the manual for channel assignment but cannot find how. Do you know how?
Thanks,
Jeff
puddud22 4 years ago
I forgot to mention...I am using their Commander controller.
Thanks,
Jeff
puddud22 4 years ago
Should be in the software.
NightFlyyer 4 years ago
There is a place in the setup to reverse the controls. Fish around til you find it.
NightFlyyer 4 years ago
Dave,
I found your thread @ IPACS asking about this a couple of years ago. It seems you solved it with the "Engine" entry in advanced setup. All it does for me assigning it to a different channel is turn the engine off or 100% on. I am not able to get rid of negative pitch for regular flight. Any help appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff
