Try using 40gr high velocity with semi autos. the hollow points weigh less and have a slightly lessor charge. The 40gr high velocity provide that extra umph needed to cycle some auto and besides the hollow points tend to catch on the feed ramp causing a jam easier.
Speaking about 22 ammo, 22 LR firearms can be very picky about ammo! I got a CMMG 22 LR AR-15 upper a few months ago, I had some old Remington 22 LR that I shot in this carbine and it functioned perfectly, about 300 rounds without a single problem, so I went by Bass Pro and bought a bulk pack of new Remington 22 LR, figuring it would be fine, this new box of 22 ammo jams every single shot, I can rarely fire 2 shots without a jam, so that box of ammo I'll have to use up in my revolver.
@HippoShag123 It comes with a small allen wrench. I would totally take it all apart the first time and clean all the packing greas off of it and then lightly re-oil it. I like them because they are low profile target sights and very easily ajustable. A Red Dot would be nice and u could do some speed shooting. I might get one some day.
Federal "Champion" .22 LR (brick of 525) is cheap and works perfectly in both my Buckmark and SW 617 revolver. Remington ammo will never be used in any of my guns. None of it has ever worked well for me. Winchester bricks of 525 also misfeeds, fails to eject and failure to fire in all my .22s. Federal goes for $14 when on sale at Cabelas. When it gets that cheap I buy at least 10 boxes.
I got my Buckmark last week and I fell in love with it today when i went to the gun range. I used Remington ammo and it worked perfectly. I guess I got lucky.
i just bought a new browing buckmark will not eject casings i use winchester and federal, don't know what causing it i have took it back to gunsmith to check it out not a happy camper now hopes gunsmith figure's it out
@poppy56 Did it get cleaned really well before shooting it the first time. They put tuns of packing greas on it and that all needs to be cleaned off or that can cause it to malfunction.
Give it a real good cleaning and try that, and don't put much oil at all.
My wife just bought one for herself for target shooting at the range. She loves it, I love it (jealous, now i want one of my own!). We've tried different brands of ammo- but the one that works best is the CCI mini mag 40gr ammo. Very consistant rounds, lower recoil, all around good round. Federal Champion performed the worst- rounds went everywhere but the target.
@that70sguy1975 Youre right. I like the CCI stuff but it is a bit more expensive so I generally get the bulk stuff and suffer through a few duds for the cost saving.
@aunsell This is so true. When I bought my buck mark it was dripping with oil. The oil was all over the inside of the plastic case it came in. They just do that to keep it from rusting while it sits around waiting to be purchased. If you shoot it like that it get's really dirt inside and out.
Remington fails in all .22 pistols with a pathetic 20% misfires. I've experienced it myself and a couple people have commented on my videos saying they had the very same problem.
i use the browning contour .22 and for an almost entry level pistol i am shooting i the top 5% of my pistol club against much more expensive pistols. highly recomended.
would a nylon holster for the 5.5in model of this fit the ruger 22/45 with same length barrel. im having trouble finding a holster for my ruger. nice gun btw
My dad bought me one of these for my 15th birthday. It's pretty much like your's but I have a red design around the outsides of the grip. It looks sick. I love this gun. We buy the Remington bulk and it's only had like two or three miss fires. And the grip is amazing.
@mememe123xyz Remington golds in bulk pack are perfect in my Buckmark Camper SS. Not sure if the barrel is different than yours but the camper has a round barrel not flat on the side like yours. I have had some misfires with Remington subsonics on this gun, and some Federal bulk 36 grain hollowpoint copper plated
i just bought my first buckmark today, put 250 rounds of remington bulk ammo through it. only 2 rounds failed to fire. and the high viz front sight makes for fast target acquisition. Very satisfied with this firearm.
I recently purchased the Practical URX model of this gun. It was extremely accurate, but there was one problem. It wouldn't feed correctly. I sent it back to Browning which was a bad idea. I ended up waiting weeks. I finally contact them and they tell me it would be another month before they even had the parts to fix it. I asked for a refund which I got, but i still expect more from a company like Browning.
Sorry for the mess. Unfortunately with most gun companies thare is quite a waite for repair. I had a similar experience with a Taurus revolver and it took 2 months to get it fixed. I wouldn't blame browning there are bound to be a few bad ones no matter how good the company.
@aunsell You are right about that. NEVER use cheap Remington .22 box ammo. It misfires like a son of a bitch.Great post by the way. I own a Buckmark .22
I have this same gun with the 5 1/2 inch barrel, and I love it. The only complaint I have is that it is very picky about what type of ammo is used, and whether it's clean or not. I have found that American Eagle brand works nice, I think mainly because it feeds better due to the copper jacket. Other brands that have a wax coating don't seem to feed well, thus producing a light hit on rim...at least that's MY theory...fun as hell to shoot, though!!
I have a Browning Buckmark Camper and I know for a fact that it does not like Remington ammo or some older Winchester Super X ammo. It either misfired or failed to fully eject causing the slide to close on the spent cartridge halfway after it was being extracted. American Eagle ammo by Federal functioned flawlessly. Very nice gun, weight, feel, and trigger pull. It will out shoot most people.
just bought this gun for fun. bought mine from a gun dealer, came with 2 10 round mags, and rail to add red dot, scope, etc. shoot federal ammuntion out of it, so far no problems(box of 500 cost me $20)
The gun I held at Academy looked like the Practical URX but without the HiViz front sight. It sold for US $300-. I almost walked out the door with it. That gun had the URX grips and felt great.
I plan to pick it up soon, or order a Stainless Camper at my gun shop with it's URX grips. Maybe put a rail and red dot on it later.
Search 'Browning Buckmark .22 Pistol' on YouTube. The shooter has a red dot.
I like that little Buck Mark 5.5 Field, but it's a bit too expensive @ MSRP US $619-.
That is a 'slab side' barrel. There are also 'bull' barrels and 'fluted' barrels. The fluted have some lines carved in the side.
There is another barrel called 'special contour' which has a unique shape. And yet another thin barrel called 'lightweight tapered'. I saw 25 different variations of this little gem on the browning website.
The rubber grip with finger grooves is called 'URX'. I love that grip, as well as the various wood grip styles which have class.
.22 autoloaders are all usually picky about ammo. I'm sure some professional gunsmithing would help ease the spoiled brats, but any autoloader has it's favorite ammunition.
I would think that even if you buy a better quality .22, it would still be cheaper for more shots versus say, 9mm or .38 special.
Dude sounds like you have some sour grapes or something. I didn't say all bulk ammo, infact Winchester bulk works fine. I got about 3000 rounds on Black Friday for around $11 per box and they work great !
For some reason Remington dosn't work, could be that there is less powder, equaling less slide recoil and causing jams. Just a thought

9mm's were that accurate, of course they have a 3inch, 4 inch, and a 5 inch barrel. The Browning has a 5 1/2"
i like your philosophy of treating the gun as loaded, however you should always use the safety, i mean if you were walkin with it loaded and u tripped and dropped it, then the safety would (hopefully) prevent it from goin off, it just adds a little safety to the gun, just in case =]
Im actually one of those people that don't use a safety because if you were ever in a situation where your life depended on getting a shot, you sure don't want to be fumbling with a safety. Also not all guns have one so if I chose to carry a gun without one and I forhot it didn't have one I could be looking for one when there wasn't one at all.
Im sure not everyone agrees, oh well, get a holster that covers the trigger.
@aunsell If you fumble with a safety then you really shouldn't be allowed to carry a gun. Disengaging is fluid and a dynamic part of the draw, if you can't do that then you are clearly mentally agitated. In those situations, fumbling with the safety can save lives. Would you want to be on the other side of a barrel being held by someone who is so nervous they can't even flick a switch... let alone AIM! Or identify their target!
@aunsell its a .22 though. What do you need to shoot that fast. My carry guns do not have a safety but the trigger pull on those guns are kind of light. I treat all guns as they are loaded and keep my finger off the trigger, but crap happens
Tried this at a dealer recently, I agree with how great it feels in the hand with those grips, but I found the safety lever dug into my support hand thumb with a 2-handed grip and was annoying. Perfect feel and handling otherwise!
Nice vidiography and you have a great voice for the commentary. I have been interested in the Browning Buckmark for comparison to my Ruger 22/45 and yours has been by far the most comprehensive and very informative. I think I will stay with my Ruger which can be disassembled without tools and gobbles up any ammo I care to run through it with no jams or stovepipes. Again great video.
Hello. So it didn't like Remington? What type(s) of 22LR ammo does it prefer to shoot? I am curious as the buckmark is one of the 22 pistols I am thinking about purchasing. Do you have any recommendations based on what you have heard. Greatly appreciated. Sincerely, JAMES.
Winchester bulk ammo seems to do fine. Remington ammo in this gun dosn't work well at all. There are stove pipes and misfires and jams. No problems at all with Winchester.
I bought a flat black URX Buckmark last November. I have been very impressed with this gun. Anybody thinking about buying this pistol. BUY IT !! You'll be glad you did. It is the BEST !!!
hey guys im gessing u all have a few guns so me and my dad are gona buy two 22.s we live in manitoba canada and im wondering if u guys can recomned 2 4 us thx
I have one of these guns with a longer barrel and it shoots great and I have shot about 500-600 rounds in two trips to the range without a cleaning (I know I should have cleaned it after the first time and that was laziness on my part) but even dirty I have never had a jam and only have had 2 fail to fires (they where good primer strikes) awesome and very comfortable gun.
What a Dork! With target pistols in mind they are exactly that, target pistols. And are therefor not ment to be used "In The Field" as other semi auto pistols are. So when someone says of a target pistol that it is hard to field strip & clean, that's because you're suppose to clean it at home or in a more non-urgent way. The often mis-used term "field stripping" is anomalous to saying "Easier to take down and clean"
You're right I did misuse the term. Field stripping is actually just a term for taking it apart, but most people think of it as taking it apart it in the "field" and doing it quick. This is definately not that.
wrong bitch! field stripping means takin your girlfriend in a cornfield and strippin off her clothes. =D im bout to take buck mark apart so i can kill the dog that killed my cat, with a clean gun. WTF allenkeys? i like dismantling my ruger mark III more. brb gg field strip ur gf
This Gun sucks to take apart. There is no such thing as field stripping on this one, it really can't be done in the field. There is an allen screw on the top that has to be removed, not an easy gun to take apart. I clean though after every shooting
"comes with a litle allan wrench to change som settings on the gun"??
dont you ever clean your guns........As I Clean my guns after every use, no matter if its for self defence or not.
And this is the problem with the browning buckmark, its complicated to fieldstrip.
Something to think about if you buy this gun, my buckmark after only 2000 rounds started showing wear on the nuts that holds the slide in place, due to cleaning between shoots.I never shoots less than 150 rounds when i shoot.
the only ammo that works well with this pistol is remington yellow jacket rounds, everything else I have used in my buck mark has stovepiped atleast once per magazine
I just bought a Browning 22 pistol buckmark RX PRO Target shooting gun. I HIGHLY recommend this gun. This guy is right. Don't use the Remington ammo. It misfires. Buy good quality ammo.
After Christmas I am going to purchase a Browning Buckmark Nickel Plus. The model was discontinued in 2005 and we just happened to run upon one that had only six shots fired through it because the previous owner was a collector and did not want to depreciate the value of it. This model is nickel plated, has grey laminated wood grips, has a 5.5 inch slab side barrel, and a green truglo front sight. I am getting the setup with picatiny rail for a final price of $360, retail is $450,I am excited!!
Try using 40gr high velocity with semi autos. the hollow points weigh less and have a slightly lessor charge. The 40gr high velocity provide that extra umph needed to cycle some auto and besides the hollow points tend to catch on the feed ramp causing a jam easier.

@aunsell its a .22 though. What do you need to shoot that fast. My carry guns do not have a safety but the trigger pull on those guns are kind of light. I treat all guns as they are loaded and keep my finger off the trigger, but crap happens

@Yilmael be in a gunfight and then say that.
Ronald3570 1 year ago
Nope. No need to put it on safety, Common sense is a safety.
MISTALARES 2 years ago
yeah but y not use that AND your common sense? to make it twice as safe

i bought federal ammo and it jammed like three times every clip i have the sporter rifle version not the pistol
mcwolves3 2 years ago
Tried this at a dealer recently, I agree with how great it feels in the hand with those grips, but I found the safety lever dug into my support hand thumb with a 2-handed grip and was annoying. Perfect feel and handling otherwise!

fyi, remington thunderbolt works great in my buckmark
as does american eagle and cci
OmnipotentSquid 2 years ago
I have only tried the bulk boxes which are bound to not woork as good and premium stuff
aunsell 2 years ago
my camper does not have the same grip i plan on replacing it however because that looks a lot more comfortable.
also the rear sight base on mine is cracked because it's plastic and couldn't withstand a few thousand rounds of usage
OmnipotentSquid 2 years ago
Nice vidiography and you have a great voice for the commentary. I have been interested in the Browning Buckmark for comparison to my Ruger 22/45 and yours has been by far the most comprehensive and very informative. I think I will stay with my Ruger which can be disassembled without tools and gobbles up any ammo I care to run through it with no jams or stovepipes. Again great video.

what is the price ?
Perseiden2 2 years ago
The MSRP from Browning is $429. Expect a little less at the gun store.

damiiaaannn 2 years ago
hey were did u get the gun
GtaSaMasterkiller 2 years ago
Hello. So it didn't like Remington? What type(s) of 22LR ammo does it prefer to shoot? I am curious as the buckmark is one of the 22 pistols I am thinking about purchasing. Do you have any recommendations based on what you have heard. Greatly appreciated. Sincerely, JAMES.
buzzclark 2 years ago
HI
Winchester bulk ammo seems to do fine. Remington ammo in this gun dosn't work well at all. There are stove pipes and misfires and jams. No problems at all with Winchester.

I bought a flat black URX Buckmark last November. I have been very impressed with this gun. Anybody thinking about buying this pistol. BUY IT !! You'll be glad you did. It is the BEST !!!

I have one of these guns with a longer barrel and it shoots great and I have shot about 500-600 rounds in two trips to the range without a cleaning (I know I should have cleaned it after the first time and that was laziness on my part) but even dirty I have never had a jam and only have had 2 fail to fires (they where good primer strikes) awesome and very comfortable gun.

lol a grun~ last few seconds of vid. thanks i'll try takin mine apart now, cuz its dirty.

Unjins99 2 years ago
You're right I did misuse the term. Field stripping is actually just a term for taking it apart, but most people think of it as taking it apart it in the "field" and doing it quick. This is definately not that.
aunsell 2 years ago
wrong bitch! field stripping means takin your girlfriend in a cornfield and strippin off her clothes. =D im bout to take buck mark apart so i can kill the dog that killed my cat, with a clean gun. WTF allenkeys? i like dismantling my ruger mark III more. brb gg field strip ur gf
himrchp 2 years ago
yea tru
ChristianMetal4Life 2 years ago
This Gun sucks to take apart. There is no such thing as field stripping on this one, it really can't be done in the field. There is an allen screw on the top that has to be removed, not an easy gun to take apart. I clean though after every shooting
aunsell 2 years ago
On mine, I think the sights moved a bit every time I cleaned.

I would love to have one of those in nickel with the same grip, that looks awesome!

UGLEIV 2 years ago
the only ammo that works well with this pistol is remington yellow jacket rounds, everything else I have used in my buck mark has stovepiped atleast once per magazine

I love my Buck Mark plus UDX!! I shoot Federal ammo out of it. 550 rounds, copper jacket from Wally World for $13 bucks.
Its easy to clean and love the trigger pull like you said in your video!!

Update: after researching those grips, they only fit on the newer model Buckmarks. Darn.
thereve 3 years ago
I really like those grips! Do you know if those will fit on older pistols? I really like mine as is but the wrap around grips look quite comfortable
thereve 3 years ago
