  • This is my pickup ! yeahhh

  • Why does that dude make me think of James May.

  • I love how it looks.

  • Oh Ford, what have you done. This new Explorer is UGLY. There was nothing wrong with the older. Should have just gave it another facelift, instead of completely redesigning it.

  • 1:23 That just stuns me that Ford continues to use a cheap prop rod for the hood on so many of their vehicles; how hard is it to put struts in there like everyone else? I can understand a prop rod on a Fiesta or Focus, but not on a $30K plus Explorer.

  • you......are.......boring........

  • @gandartwinkelflafy1 You don't see a motivational speech career for him? :)

  • i like chicken

  • this guy should not be speaking for ford what a Robot {to give the impression of quality WTF}

  • watch this one >>>

    youtube.com/watch?v=xE5pbOj9hKA

  • I have a video Slideshow about The Ford Explorer 2011 with download wallpaper Links

    /watch?v=YvYoYDIs01w

  • Man, I don't get it. All the American Fords look like shit while here in Europe, all the FOrds look so much nicer.

  • @pimpninja1985 I agree with you to the extent that the European Fords are much better vehicles than the american versions. The Mondeo needs to be brought to the US ASAP, just to name one. I was in South America for a few years and even the Ranger pickup is a much better vehicle there than it is here; it was a 4 door crew cab with a 4 cylinder diesel. Why not make that here?

  • @drc1981 I agree. I belive if the mondeo was brought to the US and replaced the taurus, it would be a big seller.

  • thats the new explorer? I thought the explorer was a suv not some gay station wagon? Ask me it looks very plastic and cheep..

  • @el84power what makes this not an suv?

  • @Forgeth3Bulletz It's wrong-wheel-drive. It has a sideways engine. It has a front biased, part-time AWD system with no low-range. It's a wagon.

  • @tjhaywood100 does the same stuff a suv would do, looks like a suv ford calls it a suv screw it still a suv to me(:

  • VP of Engineering should take courses in public speaking and sales or something. His description, of otherwise a fine suv, makes me want not buy this ride.

sorry, i work in public speaking & sales. you're a rep and a designer of this vehicle, show a little passion.

  • ford is garbage

  • "to give that impression of quality "....

  • @0.55 Says>To give that impression of quality and solidity

  • WTF, stop fliming the guy! This is a car review! Fucking gayass cameraman!

  • This video focused more on the exterior of Paul Mascarenas and the host than shots of the vehicle. We can listen to them talk, I just wish there were more shots of the vehicle instead of the people.

  • Unlike Chevy which is still leaching off Opel technology. All Chevy small cars are ripe with German technology.

Chevy trucks are true American though,

  • that xplorer is amazing all xplorers for years always the best

  • looks ugly, its just another crossover now.....lost the whole full fledge suv look completely.... = Soccer mom car.....Great job ford =_=

  • 36 ppl prolly drive jap crap or euro trash lol

  • Land Rover LR3, meet Ford Escape.

  • Looks like a rowlr, no an Explorer. I still like the size of my 1998 Ford Explorer. his is a bad idea for a SUV, UNLESS youlve in Europe....

  • the front end doesn't do it for me. It's very plain-jane looking.

  • i love it!

  • Front has land rover written all over

  • @RHbenchmarks Ford owned Land Rover and lost money on the deal when they sold'em, that means Ford owned the technology, they might as well get something out of'em for all the money it cost'em.

  • Comment removed

  • @RHbenchmarks Ford owned land rover bro.

  • Really wish this had the same grill\ front end as the Escape...

  • People please I'm confused should I get the explorer or the edge. I really don't know much about the specs but what I'm really concerned about is :-

    1) which is faster

    2) more quiet ( wind noise )

    3) more features and luxury

    4) is the explorer a 5 seater or 7 ???

    Thank you for ur time

  • @arabshady 1) Edge would be slightly faster due to being smaller and lighter, HOWEVER, if they introduce the 3.5 Ecoboost in the Explorer, then it would be faster; 2) not sure yet on wind noise, probably about even 3) They both have the MyFordTouch feature, and will basically have the same features overall; 4) Edge will only seat 5, Explorer can seat 5 or 7 with a 3rd row

  • @arabshady I would go with a Subaru Forester...reliability and a peace of mind.

  • Whoever thinks this looks like an ACADIA needs glasses.

The new Explorer is 5 1/2 in wider, 3 1/2 in longer, is 5'11" high, is reinforced for truck duty, and is a UNI-BODY now because they dumped the Archaic Body on Frame.

  • that is not a suv.. that looks like a crossover

  • @TheHuElGaBirD0014 Thats what I was thinking Looks just like a slightly bigger Ford Edge & whats the point of a crossover

  • THEY COPIED THE GMC ACADIA DESGIN

  • Don't know why people would complain or insult the vehicle. People asked for a economical, 7 passenger vehicle that is dependable. Well here it is? It is not meant to be a off road 4X4, because normal people don't off road. It does however have the capabilities for harsh road conditions when needed. You asked for it, here it is. This to me is an all around vehicle for the the modern family. Way to go Ford, I will seriously be considering this as my next vehicle.

  • looks like the edge

  • If I wanted a damn Edge I would have bought one. They ruined the Explorer, doesn't look as good, and not as capable. They could have done the redesign and strive to be more car like by reworking some things. But instead they made a crossover.

  • @Zinizzle ....ford edge towing capacity=not rated 2011 explorer= 5000lbs!!!

this is a nice cuv/suv has decent ground clearance. It will also attract more buyers that are looking at highlander, pilot, santa fe,veracruz, sorento, journey etc so i think ford is doing a good move with this. If you want a ford truck get an expidition or a 4 door f-150.and theres also nissan xterra if you want a real offroad truck. 2010 explorer wasnt made for serious offroading neway indep suspension:not real truck

  • @wrecks1984 The previous generation can tow 7,115lbs so don't try and say they are compromising anything. And the edge tow package is good for 3,500lbs i believe.

  • Helloooooo?? Motor Trend?? Uh, next time you make a video about a vehicle, you might want to tell the TOOL operating the camera to actually SHOW the vehicle that is being talked about. We could care less what these two brits look like!! And by the way "FORD", you've already got the Edge and the Flex. We don't need the Explorer to look just like them!!!

  • Ugh. The new Flexplorer is a FWD joke on wheels. A poor excuse for an Explorer. Why didn't they just let the real RWD/4WD Explorer die with dignity instead of slapping the name on this cheesy little imitation SUV? It's degrading to the venerable Explorer name for it to be attached to something like this. It's just wrong on so many levels. Now the Jeep Grand Cherokee doesn't have any competetion at all from Ford. And that's sad.

  • Why cant make it a one 8 minute video ford exterior and interior !!! :(

  • Fords Stock has Spiked again today, and up 20% in the last week and a half, from $14.25 to 17.00 a share.

  • showwwwwwwwwwww the car the carrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

  • yes the previous look did look realy good but this isn't that bad this is a real good looking explore thumbs up for ford

with all of ford new changes to their vehicles idk which one i want more. i love the new edge, explore, mustang, focus st, and the super dutys. i love all the vehicles :D

............... wish they made a new excursion.... that would b awesome... i loved that big suv / truck....... put a eco boost engine in it with better gas mpg and make it better and bring it back XP

  • @BigDaddyLoveJuice Yes I wish they made a new Excursion too with the base engine being the 3.5L Ecoboost that they're putting in the F-150 making 365 horsepower and 420 ft lbs. of torque, then an ecoboost 5.0L or the new naturally aspirated 6.2L, and then the new 6.7L diesel. It will never happen though because of gas prices and the economy, but it's fun to dream.

  • i met the vp!

  • the previous design was way more appealing, unless you live in the city and have no need of a SUV in the first place...

  • What I liked about the 2010 Explorer was the Torque (315 lb.-ft), now it's just 255 lb.-ft. in the 3.5L. Obviously it's gonna have better mpg (-60 lb.-ft).

  • FoMoCo has been under new management since 2006, that's when Alan Mulally came to Ford with 37 years experience with Boeing, he's their new CEO.

Ford is planning to put the V-6 Ecoboost in the new Explorer, it's making 365 hp and 350 lb ft, in the Taurus, and and the torque curve is so flat it develops 350 lb ft from 1500-5000, and has virtually no turbo lag.

  • the interior is %99 like the new 2011 ford edge, and so is the front grill. i know this cuz i work at ford...lol the interiod has like literally no buttons everything is touch now, from volume to A/C. very nice takes time getting used to cuz it has so much new technology compare to the 2010 models.

  • @saudikid are you sure you're a ford employee lol , look at the interior videos before you pose as a ford employee , the steering wheel alone has a full array of buttons

  • @donaldlevac bro the interior is %99 like a FULLY loaded ford edge and a fully loaded MKX no difference what so ever, i drive this car everyday brother. the black interiod in this 2011 explorer is the same one used in a fully loaded top of the line ford edge.

  • @saudikid ok wtf are you talking about , i was addressing that you said there were no buttons i understand the center stack is all ford my touch, but there's still plenty of buttons is what i was saying lol , all i have to say is you fail poser

  • @donaldlevac ok why am i arguing with a 12 year old? the only buttons are things like volume and AC fanspeed. and obviosly on the steering wheel which is a no brainer.

  • Compared to crossovers, "traditional SUVs are becoming more of a niche product, "George Pipas, Ford's senior sales analyst, says. That explains why Ford radically altered the formula for its all-new, fifth-generation Explorer, ditching archaic body-on-frame construction and myriad other mechanical components derived from pickup trucks. But while the unibody 2011 Explorer shares parts with the Taurus, the Flex and the Linolcn MKS and MKT,

  • it rides on a unique version of Ford's versatile D-Platform. "It had to meet all of our truck durability-testing requirements," one representative said. "When people look underneath, they'll find more things unique to Explorer than not. "Under the hood you'll see either a 3.5-liter V-6 or a 2.0-liter turbocharged Four. Promising good fuel economy, optional AWD and a seven-passenger body the melds sedan and SUV styling, the Explorer has officially crossed over.

  • Made in USA = garbage

  • horrible looking vehicle, looks like the Ford Edge. Glad we have a 2010 and didn't wait for this garbage

  • I bet half of the people who buy explorers don't tow or go off road

  • Que lástima, rompieron el estilo tan fregòn que tenìa la explorer, ahora parece una honda que para otros gustos esta bien poro nada que ver con ford

  • its fugly an gay an stupid an i hate it it sucks iam not buying one so fuck u it suck

  • I can't buy this I have testicles.

  • @temdatli lol your to manly for this vehicle,

  • everyone check out the new 2011 Dodge Durango, it has an optional Hemi so you can be able tow way more then the Explorers and it's also RWD and ofcourse four wheel drive. And like this guy said, this Explorer isn't a rock crawler, so try considering the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, again with the Hemi or the new Pentastar V6 you can rock crawl and tow all day while the Explorer is at the bottom of the hill stuck in a puddle.

  • World Wide Oil Production has reached its peak, but demand keeps going up, do you Geniuses know what that means?

  • What I don't like is that this vehicle is front wheel drive now... Now if you know, the FF layout is not as powerful as the FR layout since the FR layout gives better cornering and traction. One thing i don't know is if the AWD REALLY 4WD because some AWD's are just a 2 wheel drive with traction control. For AWD with the Explorer, I'd prefer ALL wheels spinning.

  • Front headlights need work, they don't look tough enough for an Explorer.

  • Its a car based suv. Looks like a toyoya, lexus , or kia. I like the 2010 model better.

  • @bill763705 I`m agree with you man, ford failed in this design

  • the guide voice look like Piers Morgan AGT judge..Close your eyes,

  • I actually understated the torque.

    The 2011 Explorer has 60 less Lb.-Ft of torque than the outgoing model. 2011 255 vs 2010 315 Lb.-Ft.

  • @SecularTechnology They converted it to a car based model because of sales dropping. People now prefer greener technologies as a result of gas prices. One day full sized SUVs will return when we can maintain a stable yet powerful fuel source.

  • People state that this 2011 Explorer has only 2Hp less than the outgoing model, but what they leave out is that it has 45 less Lb.-Ft of torque than the outgoing model. 255 vs 300 Lb.-Ft

Torque is the muscle behind SUV's.

  • Comment removed

  • It can't tow 9,000 Lb's. 5,000 is what it's rated for the top powertrain.

  • @SecularTechnology Blame that on the need for a unibody construction in order to have better fuel economy.

  • @SecularTechnology haha wanna make a bet? My 98 sport with 4.0L sohc and 4.10 gears (with a FULL REAR AXLE NOT IRS) towed a combined weight of 10,500lbs (i stopped at a weigh scale on the highway just to see) with an STS behind me on a trailer, for over 400km's just fine Thats over 5000lbs of trailer

That was 3 years ago and i still drive it with no problems, and i tow a camper near monthly through the canadian shield

The 5.0L was actually rated for 11,000lbs GCRW

    These new ones are SHITTS

  • @mattmatt115

    Yes, I agree with you.

  • the front is very lr3 esque....looks more practical for everyday drivin. the old styling was too bulky! ford is moving foward!

  • this redezign explorer looks like the Frestyle and the Taurus X chass.

  • i miss the old explorers i am not a fan of the new explorer im starting to not be a ford fan anymore and i think that ford needs to rethink what they are doing with the new designs there comming out with

  • @Mikeman410 ford is trying to replace V8 engine with the Ecoboost engine and there trying it ont he F150 Crew Cab.and the Ecoboost on this explorer can tow a trailer up to 9000 lbs

  • I love Explorers, but this one is not going to do it for me! It looks like a SAAB to me..

  • Now all their cars look the same, good job Ford. I find this thing is hideous, especially from the side and back.

  • this is some ugly SUV

  • it will have to grow on me.. but i already think it looks pretty good!! i

  • 2011 Ford Freestyle?

  • Ford has their shit together with this all-new Explorer. Guys, the 90's are over....and the 2006-2010 Explorer is quite frankly OUTDATED. Oh...still wanna tow over 5000 lbs? No biggie...get yourself either the Expedition or a sweet F- Series crew cab. Ford CHANGED because they had to.....wake-up guys....truck based SUVs aren't selling like they did in the 80's and 90's, but car-based SUVs are. I admire this new Explorer, and Ford is making their move in the marketplace just in time....

  • @colderbeer Outdated? No. They're still body-on-frame. Nothing wrong with that. And they have OHC engines. Nothing outdated there. They also have sophisticated independent suspensions in the front and rear. Nothing outdated there either. The interior is thoroughly modern and contemporary. Nothing outdated there either. I'm wondering what you're talking about. Just because the '02 - '10 Explorers are true REAR-WHEEL-DRIVE SUV's certainly doesn't make them outdated.

  • @tjhaywood100 I appreciate how you feel, and I am a lover of Fords, etc. "Outdated" is probably too harsh a characterization for the current Explorer model. Truck-based SUVs just arent' selling like they used too, and I admire Ford for recognizing this and making the change to the Explorer in a real effort to stay competitive in the marketplace. The only disadvantage this change brings is towing ability....correct? What's so bad about opting for a crewcab or an Expedition if towing is vital?

  • @colderbeer That's understandable. The Expedition is nice and so is the F-150. The problem I have is that if this was Ford's plan, they should have just let the Explorer die a dignified death as a true SUV and put a different name on this. Trying to build a quasi-SIV's reputation off a truely capable SUV is basically lying about it's abilities. FWD crossovers will never be as good or versatile as a true SUV with RWD and a real 4x4 system with low range.

  • @tjhaywood100 I bet there were plenty at Ford who wanted to give this new version of the Explorer a totally different name, because you are right about it being a totally different product compared to the current Explorer. Based on their experiences with dropping the name "Taurus" a few years ago, Ford must have remembered how important name recognition is and made the decision to keep the very well known name "Explorer." Even Ford haters know all about the model known as the "Explorer."

  • @colderbeer Exactly. You said everything I was about to say too. I wouldn't worry too much if I was Ford; the people who will gripe about it not being a tough truck based SUV big towing off road vehicle anymore will represent MAYBE 10% of potential buyers anyway. Ford's just going with what the market and buyer trends suggest they want.

  • Geniuses like the old Explorer and 14 mpg city

  • @1vdn992 That's pretty funny. My '94 4x4 Explorer averages 19.5mpg every day. I have no complaints.

  • - I watch this video like 3 times and I just can't bring myself to like the exterior. It looks like a Sedan. I have a Ford Explorer 2003 and I think I will upgrade to the 2009-2010 version instead of this one. Just my opinion thats all ......

  • i like the old explorer look

  • The reason Ford is doing so well is that they gave a MAJOR face lift to all their vehicles. Just look at their designs for ALL their vehicles compared to let's say 2006. Its almost night and day. Now how consumers and magainzes like Motor Trend, Consumer Reports, etc say about that's how well it will do in sells. More of the SUV's are going to be based of the car design compared to the truck design in the past.

  • @redmustang03 I think it is more like Ford has swtiched from body-on-frame to uni-body style. It is time for fuel economy instead of towing, heavy duty or off-road for family vehicle.

  • @linkfox99, I think you got to have perfect combination and what Ford has been able to do is redesign all their vehicles that have better fuel economy, roomier interior, and a new exterior design has brought in new customers.

  • @redmustang03 A lot of those of use who buy american cars like the fact that they are building quality and Ford was not bailed out by the government. I would not consider a GM nor a Chrysler vehicle since that happened.

  • @redmustang03 I was just thinking the same thing the other day; Just look at the brochures from '06 or '07 compared to now; It's like a totally different car company. And it was all done without a government handout! Ford FTW!

  • The reason Ford is doing so well is that they gave a MAJOR face lift to all their vehciles.

  • how much can this tow?

  • wow. ford needs to stop making every fucking SUV look like a god damn sedan... i'm sick of it. BRING BACK THE TRUCKS!!! enough of the car based crossovers and mid-sized SUV's!!!

PROUD OWNER OF A 2000 EDDIE BAUER FORD EXPEDITION AND A 2006 FORD EXPLORER V8

  • @Tim102024 Proud owner of an 06 f150 and a 02 explorer. I love these vehicles and i feel where your coming from but its going in another direction nowadays. I really like the styling and fuel mileage tho. But what really pisses me off about this new explorer is...is that it doesnt offer a full 4x4 option, only the intelli-anti slip 4wd

  • is it me or does this look like a Range Rover?

  • @george5point0 looks like a stretched out edge with a different grill

  • @Motor Trend: show more of the car and less of the two talking about it. You could have panned the car and used the two talking as voice over. What a let down :(

  • more like a toyota fortuner

  • @chubbyneanro Toyota.. lol. You're an idiot. Show me a Toyota that has the features of that EXLORER. You'd pay $60,000, if its even available.

Not to mention quality, which Ford is leading btw. Stop drinking the asian kool-aid man. Its over.

  • the face looks like a Land Rover and the ass looks like a Edge

    get original Ford

  • to be real car ford must lift it 3 inches

  • Ford is now getting blown away by GM. The German designed Buick is a beautiful thing. Ford needs to redesign their trucks as they look dated. This Explorer exterior design looks nearly identical to another Ford vehicle that has been on the road for a couple of years now.

  • @bjsherlock , GM is that the company that went into bankruptcy when Ford didnt ?

Buick only sells in china and its made to cater for that market.. and it shows.... Ford explorer is sold worldwide !

The explorer looks similar to the upcoming range rover lrx... and with the ecoboost engines , its far superior to buicks engines.

  • @bjsherlock if their trucks are so outdated....how come noone has beat them in sales...noone even close. So i would come to the conclusion that u r a ford hater lol

  • @blawilliams

Chinese trucks sell better in China. 1 out of 3 Chinese made vehicles is a large diesel truck. Beat that, Ford!

  • @JeremyFuhenstasser who gives a shit about communist ass china. 90% of their working population cant afford a pinto

  • @blawilliams

Bullshit. Bring your F-150 in front of a Type 99G tank and see what happens to the oh-so-tough F-150 when it gets hit by a 125 mm armor-piercing ha ha ha ha.

  • @JeremyFuhenstasser what in the hell r u talking about! Go play dungeons and dragons and quit talking to me about vehicles

  • @blawilliams Actually when you put the Silverado and Sierra together it beats the F150 for sales. But I personally like the F150.

  • @Zinizzle yes, but put all sales together...f150 - 350 compared to chevy and gmc and c what u get

  • Comment removed

  • @bjsherlock really? Ford is getting Blown away by GM? WHere is your proof of this? Ford is number 1 when it comes to truck sales. Chevy is in second place, and Dodge is in 3rd! Your comment here makes no sense because your trying to compare the new '11 Explorer which is a SUV, to a Buick, which is a car! Here's an inviting idea, try doing some research before commenting! Oh, and as far as Buick, the regal with a turbo, is underpowered and gets walking on by the VW CC, and the Acura TSX!

  • @5757884 well isn't this nice, you make up an account on June 16, and basically use your little numbered name to be a troll here on youtube!

See what your doing is combining both Chevy and GM sales. Whey they add up the sales, they do the sales indivudially. Ford is number 1,Chevy is number 2, Dodge is 3, and GMC is 4. And that was sich an old comment I made that you bascially trolled to get your point across. Any further reponses towards me will basically label you a dick sucking troll here!

  • Poor explorer they castrated it.

  • epic FAIL

compared to the real rock crawler in the early 90's

  • when it has the body color painted grill it looks much nicer.

  • Looks smaller to me...

  • Ford what the fuck have you done with yourself. ENOUGH with the European cues!!!!!! For shit sake.

  • After the economy gets better, I'm sure they will redesign it and put the new 5.0 v8 in (Please ford....PLEASE!). Yea it's an overall better vehicle, but real men want a v8 darn it!.......Well at least the jeep grand cherokee an durango will get more sales (chrysler need all the help they can get right now). I can't believe gm did this too, no more v8 midsized suv's:(

  • FIX OR REPAIR DAILY FORD

  • @brandonyaboy1219 First On Race Day you idiot!

  • A 2.0 Liter engine?? O _ M _ G ....

  • @FireCaptE9 2.0T... that produces almost as much.. if not more (not sure) as the outgoing 4.0L v6... So whats the problem

  • The 4.0L V6 is a much better engine and will have much higher longevity than a 4 cylinder trying to (in this case PULL) along an SUV knockoff

They should not have called this an explorer, but let it die and called it FLEXPLORER

  • @mattmatt115 how the hell do u know that? there is no explorer yet with 4 million miles on it plus they test these engines on durability anyway and times have changed.

  • @flyerholland Well generally, putting that much demand on a 4cylinder engine produces a negative effect for longevity...

IE rings, valve seals, bottom end bearings

But you should look at the suspension.. this thing has 8 ball joints, 8 tie rods 16 control arm bushings and more cv joints and hangerbearings then an auto parts store

its a ticking time bomb if you have rough roads

  • @flyerholland Because Ford Engineered the 2.0L Ecoboost for turbocharging right from the factory, that means it has, Heavy Duty Mains, A Forged Crank Assembly, DOHCs that's a given, Direct Injection, Heavy Duty Engine Cooling and Intercooling, A 6 Speed Automatic, among other details. Not to mention extreme stress testing. I'm sure the little 2.0L can hold up to the punishment the average person can dish out, if it's properly maintained.

  • @1vdn992 hey man i think u meant to say this to mattmatt115 because i was the one who does think the 2.0 will hold out very long and perform well ! :) oh and on top of that.. i thought this 2.0 ecoboost was designed by ford europe . because we got it already in the facelifted mondeo.

  • if they bring back the f-100 2011 or 2012 i would buy it because that truck is so nice

  • what a stool box..lmao junkers for clun kers

  • what a shiiiiiit box .....

  • what a shiiiiiit box .....

  • Yeah. We like to LOOK like we're ready to go anywhere and run over anything but honestly most of you would swerve in a panic if you saw even a shallow pothole in front of you. Might as well put it on the Taurus platform. You're not going anywhere rougher than a gravel parking lot and you know it.

  • looks like its made of plastic.no one has a job how can you sell them.what about a crash test.look at the f150 pos
