This video is great and all, but you can't really appriciate how badly it smells unless you experience it for yourself.

Also, I remember a guy in school pulling a prank by filling the ventilations with this. It was horrible.

It is funny .. calling swedes crazy. It is fermented herring. No less, no more.

You like it, or not.

Fermented, like yoghurt, beer, blue cheese, cocoa, wine, olives and so on.

What IS crazy, is to open a can UNDER water and NOT bone the fish and only eat the fillets.

Make a proper research next time ;-)

Sidenote: myself .. I don't like it, but I love most other food that is fermented.

Im from Sweden, And I can say you need BALLS!!! to eat this, best served is Eat then drink Snaps, dont know what i can tell snaps is but its kinda like Liquor (you know Jäggermiser that stuff) but sweeter.

Surstömming is amazing. Even when you open it under water, your whole neighbourhood will know as it is hit by a wave of decaying stench. It is quite the experience to be in the vicinity of an open can.
