  • The 300SD can go for more than 1000000 miles easily your sl65 will be gone in next 10 years hahahaha!!!!Bitch

  • @MrCdvyas Incorrect. No Mercedes has ever seen more than 750k miles on one engine. That famous "taxi" you think of, had 6 engines in its lifetime.

  • I like to see SL65 last 600,000 miles while carrying 7 people & getting 28mpg!

  • @Hesam0000 Too bad a 300SD can't do that either.

  • @Turbo617 It can't? My 1986 300SDL with 250,000 miles in great shape says it can.

  • @Hesam0000 A 300SDL is not a 300SD, and your 300SDL won't last 600k miles.

  • @Turbo617 I've been driven around in a 300SD Taxi Cab with 744,000 km (about 462,500 miles) in a big german city (cannot remember where) a few years ago^^

  • @Epik76 its unlikely a 300sd. That was a North American market car only. There is a possibility it was but not much.

  • @Turbo617 can't stop laughing at your response to the Hesam0000

  • @Turbo617 too bad i have one that has over half a mill miles one it and runs strong.

  • @xchip420x Come back when it has 600k miles.

  • HA, I would like to see Wade's 300d from "Wade Performance", (Look it up!!!) go up against that gas Mercedes on the left, He wouldn't do as good. Wades 300d turbo NOT ONLY runs like new, but he's added a better air filter, inter-cooler and a few other things. HOW CAN YOU FUCKING COMPARE A OLD CAR TO A NEW ONE ANYWAY?!! I would like to see that Mercedes on the left go up against a new MB diesel, ARGH!!!

  • @celloprof Wade has no understanding of performance. He sells crap that does nothing, plain and simple.

Better air filter my ass. He sells a tiny piece of junk that filters like shit, is too small for the engine and sucks hot engine bay air!

If you want performance, find somebody that knows what they're doing, Wade knows nothing.

  • Respect The 300SD

  • The Diesel version is nowhere near as powerful as the Petrol version. So if they put a Mercedes 560 SE AMG and a Mercedes SL 65 then the older Mercedes would have a greater chance ;) but great vid anyway ;D

  • Slow and steady wins the real race.

  • Haha....fair race??? NO! SL65 is a performance vehicle with speed and handling in mind. 300SD...not so much, as it is a performance vehicle in a different sense. Fuel milage and longevity. Even if the 300SD had 500K on it now, my money still stays it will out last the SL65 anyday...or decade!!!!

  • sl65 driver started with the time and he stoped then he started again thats why he got 17 sec

  • Come back to me in 300,000 miles, and let's see which one is still going.

  • That 300SD needs some tuning work....mine can do 0-60 in 12.5 seconds....and by 20 seconds I can probably be around 75-80 or so. Not bad for 128hp in a 4200lb car. SL65 SHOULD be that fast.

  • how is it 17.7 ?

  • For the SL65? Probably a bad driver or high altitude.

  • he gave the other dude a head start.

  • @artishuk he waited at the line you idiot he passed the tree to start the clock and waited a long time then took off read the video desc. it says "PLAYS" with a 300sd

fuckin people cant read no wonder out unemployment rate is high

  • Wow my 300SD can do better than that, i think he needs to adjust his transmission.

  • Right. Stock 300 diesel should be doing it in 18-19 seconds.

  • Only an 8 second head start? How is that sporting? Lol. The 80's diesels are far from rocketships, but they make great daily drivers.

  • That specific 300sd would have never beat that SL65 even if it actually ran good, but that specific type of mercedes sedan 5cyl turbo diesel when in perfect condition is a lot faster than you think, my dads perfect runnung NON-turbo could have beat that one. the 300sd race car version 1,100Ib less C-111 5cyl turbo(twin?) with intercooler did 0-60MPH in a little over 4 seconds with a top speed of 211MPH, 14.7MPG at 195MPH.

  • The gasoline rotary/wankel engine version(C111-II) got to 60 in about 4.8 seconds. The diesel engine version(C111-III) did not. It had 190HP in the first engine and 230HP in the last, an intercooler and a single turbo. Though only 50HP less than the wankel, the smaller rev range and the large turbo's significant lag meant a slower 0-60.

  • You are wrong. I have a old book talking about the diesel C-111 with a 230HP engine in it, however the gasoline was faster than the diesel and did about 250MPH top speed if I'm not mistaken.

  • Well, considering the SD weighs about 3900 lbs with driver and only has 123 hp at the flywheel...

The SD will likely still be running, if taken care of, 20 years from now. The SL65 will be worthless. Not its fault, but there are too many independent on-board computers making it an illogical future used car acquisition.

  • Is the "S" really for super? How unBenz.

  • S stands for S-Class

  • Hmm.

    300D---Long body~ D-Diesel?

    300SD--Longer body~ SD-Sedan Diesel?

    300SDL-Longest body~ SDL-Sedan Diesel Long?

  • lol Almost

  • S stands for S-Klasse, D is for Diesel , L is for Lang meaning Long

  • ok this is what they mean straight out of the book

    300D---3.0 liter I5 engine---diesel(e-class sedan)

    300SD---3.0 liter I5 engine---Saloon Diesel

    300SDL---3.0 liter I6 engine---Saloon Diesel LWB(long wheel base)

the 300SDL was made after mercedes deleted the om-617/616 iron block engine and replaced it with the om603/602 aluminum block

  • Actually the blocks on the 602/603 are cast iron as well. The cylinder heads are aluminum.

The 617/616 had cast iron heads.

Don't forget the 1987(the only year sold in the US) 300D had the same 603 as the 300SDL

    The diesels win for longevity!

  • LOL that video was great!! I used to drive a 1985 300SD!

  • Seriously Funny! I just bought a 300sd (Super Diesel) last night. Im gonna run it on WVO. Free fuel bitches !

  • hope you got the money for a $1700 injection pump

  • nah, I had to go Bio diesel kuz I need the space in the trunk for my percussion gear. Yes, WVO is thick and can damage pumps and injectors. I now have two T-Diesel mercedes. 300sd and 300cd(a 123 coupe, too cool and rare). LoveCraft BioFuels makes very nice WVO kit. LoveCraft BioFules. Check it out. MUck Love, Seva Singh

  • kk so your gojng diodiesel? Or with a lovecraft kit. Anyway yea, biodiesel is the way to go. Im realy thinking about collecting and making my own. I did however run my 300 turbo diesel off of canola (rapeseed) oil just for fun once when i had a sobe bottle hooked up as a gas tank for the diesel purge. It was strange, Ive never felt so "free" driving a car before. Plus the car idled quieter and had a negligible loss in power.

  • That was pretty funny.

  • thats funny!
