What concretely makes a game "harder" or "easier"? If you are skillful and experienced enough, any sequel of Heroes will be easy for you, be it 3rd or 4th. HOMM4 are not to be considered worse because they're allegedly "easier" to play, which I, btw, think they are not. Your largest daily income is 1000 gold rather than 4000 gold, as in HOMM3, you have no upgrades, you play with 5 rather than with 7 tiers of troops, and your very hero is killable. A sign of being "easier"? Not in my book.

@PAULanthonyROMERO We need stronger music like this in Rift! The music in it tends to be far too background, which actually isn't helpful (why listen to it then, when one can put on a techno mix or something..). I love the Mathosian/Guardian, main theme, and some of the zone and rift music though.

am a 37 years old, i played HOMM3... i still payin it. i played 4, the only thing good in H4 is the music ... the game is too ez, not like H3, H3 is harder, so u can feel chalange while playin. in heroes 4 u just make 10 vampires get G.Master necromance... u will rape the game

The second game will always be my favorite in the Heroes series, it might be because it was my introduction to the series. The third one is the second best and the forth is a close third. The fifth game was a really, really bad reload of the third one with better graphics but screwed up storyline in relation to the other games in the series.

Heroes III pwns in terms of strategics and What the fuck have Gargoyles with Death to do they are animated stone not corpses. So Heroes III was more wellplanned to.

But there is no such thing in Heroes III as the music in Heroes IV except for Necropolis and Infernos themes.

@livedandletdie well, stone may b animated through 2 methods: use of necromancy, like in homm4 or like in diablo 2 - u know the clay golem, or the use of magic, like in homm3, or like the gold golems in homm4

I personally LOVED the combat in homm4!! The way heroes could battle too, and how monsters could move without a hero. The skills for heroes were much better too imo!

the music in the asluym{dungeon-chaos]castle is the best and it is kinda scary. the best castle is a tie between nature and necrosoplics because in the nature castle you can buy elementals but in the necrosplis is a mix by demons and death

The animation in HOMM 2 had more character than the 'fake' 3D renderings in 3&4. 5 is an improvement over 3&4 graphically - but why, after so many iterations, has the gameplay not developed 1 iota? A successful series needs to evolve a *little*

The town scenes are HORRIBLE in 4 - I know they've tried to make the town environment fit with the terrain the city is in - but it's HIDEOUS. It's a mish-mash of buildings with no urban planning considerations at all...

thinking of getting this game...tried it out at a friends place. pretty decent. the concepts have improved drastically, heroes fighting and creaures moving on their own are useful. multi heroes in one amry can be a great asset.

In any case, it's really cheap nowadays. I bought it, and the third game, for 149 kronor (about 12 Euro) so I sincerely recommend it.

It's one of the most mood-setting games I've ever had.

People can say what they want ... but there wasn't a better HOMM than this one, the only game where you're pure shit at the begining ... and an ultimate GOD!!! at the end of campagne ... the fourth one shows that, All you need is Combat and Nature to the end ... + if you have Life to the end NO ONE!!! can kill you ...

Agree I reckon HOMMIV is by far the best in the series (wot great soddin'music lol) - HOMMV lost something when the game became fully rendered in 3d, and it is by no means as playable as the earlier versions
