One of the most familiar statements I hear from Mormons is "families are forever." Unfortunately, it seems that KEY Mormon Doctrines work against this. A child is sealed to his/her family - for time and eternity, but if he or she marries a Mormon, he/she is sealed to the spouse - who has lready been sealed to his/her family. - Which sealing takes priority? Also, the goal of exultation further complicates this. Instead of being together, the BEST Mormon families will be WORLDS apart. :(

These pictures are very misleading! Those were not the clothes they got married (sealed) in. No flowers, no romance, no music, no attendants are part of the ceremony. Couples are shuffled in and out of the rooms quickly. Vows are made to and about the LDS church! Not between the couple. Ring exchanging is not part of the ceremony.
Only those who have temple recommends can attend the sealing: those who have the special undies and know the club handshakes, and are up on their tithing. Money!!

It was in the early LDS church endowment that the person would literally stand in a tub and be washed not to mention washing the members feet. Now a days the endowment of today I found cold and creepy. I tried for years to get more out of it. The sealing in a temple is not loving at all, handshakes over the alter and weird, Very Cultish, thats all.
It saddens me that even though this country says there is freedom of religion people work to destroy that. It is sad that even though pretty much everyone has the same rights in this country it is not ok for someone to practice their religious beliefs the way they want because of MYTHS! Or things that are no longer practiced and have not been for a hundred years, there are religious groups that claim to be lds but they are not, those people were excommunicated from the church a long time ago.
Just because LDS families keep with traditional roles a lot of the times it doesn't mean the husbands rules the family. From the people I have been around they act as one when it comes to parenting, and discuss the way things should be done TOGETHER! Just because we do not have video inside the temple does not mean that anything weird is going on. No husbands are not washed by their wives. That is just weird. You do not even take showers at the temple. Anything about washing is symbolic.
I cannot believe all the Negativity toward the LDS faith. Almost none of the stuff mentioned on these comments is true. I have noticed that a lot of people base their comments on myth. If you want to know about something, religious or otherwise you should get the facts not what you have heard. I once thought that LDS people currently practiced polygamy, until I ask a member and come to find out they do not and have not for a very long time, husband do not have dominion over thier wife.

@eitoobmiz I would say that there are Satanic influences but it is certainly not 100% Satanic. Yeah Joseph Smith was a gross pedophile but that doesn't mean that sexual immorality is rampant among the LDS congregation. You actually aren't nude an any of the temple ceremonies. When covered by the "poncho" as you called it you still have undergarments on underneath. I know because I've done them. In the marriage ceremony, the couple kneels across from each other at the altar. Imagine kneeling on something hard--ouch. When families are sealed together (if the parents were not previously married in the temple or when children are adopted) they also kneel at the altar. Hope this helps!
So The detail I heard was that the reason why the altar is soft was to make it more comfortable. There really must be more to it considering you have to be nude in another temple ritual. Aside from a puncho that is. And that said ritual is KNOWN to be incomplete by most older lds.

One of the most familiar statements I hear from Mormons is "families are forever." Unfortunately, it seems that KEY Mormon Doctrines work against this. A child is sealed to his/her family - for time and eternity, but if he or she marries a Mormon, he/she is sealed to the spouse - who has lready been sealed to his/her family. - Which sealing takes priority? Also, the goal of exultation further complicates this. Instead of being together, the BEST Mormon families will be WORLDS apart. :(

These pictures are very misleading! Those were not the clothes they got married (sealed) in. No flowers, no romance, no music, no attendants are part of the ceremony. Couples are shuffled in and out of the rooms quickly. Vows are made to and about the LDS church! Not between the couple. Ring exchanging is not part of the ceremony.
Only those who have temple recommends can attend the sealing: those who have the special undies and know the club handshakes, and are up on their tithing. Money!!

It was in the early LDS church endowment that the person would literally stand in a tub and be washed not to mention washing the members feet. Now a days the endowment of today I found cold and creepy. I tried for years to get more out of it. The sealing in a temple is not loving at all, handshakes over the alter and weird, Very Cultish, thats all.

It saddens me that even though this country says there is freedom of religion people work to destroy that. It is sad that even though pretty much everyone has the same rights in this country it is not ok for someone to practice their religious beliefs the way they want because of MYTHS! Or things that are no longer practiced and have not been for a hundred years, there are religious groups that claim to be lds but they are not, those people were excommunicated from the church a long time ago.

Just because LDS families keep with traditional roles a lot of the times it doesn't mean the husbands rules the family. From the people I have been around they act as one when it comes to parenting, and discuss the way things should be done TOGETHER! Just because we do not have video inside the temple does not mean that anything weird is going on. No husbands are not washed by their wives. That is just weird. You do not even take showers at the temple. Anything about washing is symbolic.

I cannot believe all the Negativity toward the LDS faith. Almost none of the stuff mentioned on these comments is true. I have noticed that a lot of people base their comments on myth. If you want to know about something, religious or otherwise you should get the facts not what you have heard. I once thought that LDS people currently practiced polygamy, until I ask a member and come to find out they do not and have not for a very long time, husband do not have dominion over thier wife.

Yeah Joseph Smith was a gross pedophile but that doesn't mean that sexual immorality is rampant among the LDS congregation. The biggest obstacle to continued involvement turns out to be economic.
Ugandans come to the cities for jobs, but go back to their villages when they don't have work or food. At home, they don't know how to get in contact with the church, which is purposely centered in cities. Missionaries can proselytize only within an hour's walk of an established branch.
Creating these "centers of strength" has helped the Uganda mission meet its goal of 85 percent new-member activity for the first year.

They typically do all that "traditional" stuff (cake cutting, bouquet/garter toss, dances, etc) at the reception afterward though. Anyone can attend the reception. Just wanted to clarify for everyone out there.

You actually aren't nude an any of the temple ceremonies. When covered by the "poncho" as you called it you still have undergarments on underneath. I know because I've done them. In the marriage ceremony, the couple kneels across from each other at the altar. Imagine kneeling on something hard--ouch. When families are sealed together (if the parents were not previously married in the temple or when children are adopted) they also kneel at the altar. Hope this helps!

So The detail I heard was that the reason why the altar is soft was to make it more comfortable. There really must be more to it considering you have to be nude in another temple ritual. Aside from a puncho that is. And that said ritual is KNOWN to be incomplete by most older lds.

@ChildePC please understand that the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints does not do anything offensive and NO we do not have any sexual acts within the temple. these are held sacred between man and wife in their privacy. please help stop this rumor. our Church does not do such awful acts within the temples. our temples are sacred places of worship.

Respectfully, The LDS Church has offended the entire christian organization. The number 1 offence is joseph smith stateing that no other church is true. Effectively it calls all christians liars as well as well as all other religions. Meanwhile boasting in revelations which haven't been proven ie the book of mormon. As for sex in the temple perhaps not, but it is widely purposed that homosexual acts are contrived during the opening to the endowment. PEOPL ARE CHARGED and excommunicated.

but then why would you marry them? if you can fall in love to the point that you want to be married forever, like me and my girlfriend, why cant you get along in love and peace forever? sure, if you stop dating each other and dont do anything together, then it can get really bad, but why stop? why change anything from when you date each other when your married? and you always have to concentrate on the things BOTH of you love in the relationship. if you focus on the bad, it only gets more clear!
