Justin- Thanks so very much for your time and gerenousity by posting this. This is THE best guitar instruction video I've seen yet. You really captured all of Knopler's tasty fills and your fretting was immaculate! Knopler has to be one of the most under-rated guitarists, that is until you try to duplicate his work and then realize he improvd most of it. Man, I wish my brain could be that creative. Anyway, thanks for the lesson, now I won't have to fake the fills anymore in my band :)

this is reealy easy and simple song.. the only problem is to remember everything, the only way i think ur gona learn to play the whole song is practice each one of these solos wich r easy, then listen to the song alot so u then have the song in ur head and know when each solo comes, then u dont have to remember when evry solo comes, it will come naturaly from the soul... if u know wat i mean, playing guitar is 50% technique and 50% feel.

The problem is that there is much repetition with little variations.

I have just started using Microsoft One Note (Word would just about do) and that way you can copy the lyrics and annotate the fills any way you wish.

Am also thinking of using Movie Maker to copy songs with lyrics from You Tube and swap the original music for my backing tracks. It would beat scrolling up whilst playing!

if you listen to the song carefully at 1:07 the bend stays up and then when he starts to sing he plucks the bended note again and drops it back to 8 then plucks the 6 all on the b string

Justin you are the Best when it comes to anyone who tries to teach this song. I prefer the first Solo better than the 2nd Solo. At any rate though the whole song is just beautiful. One of my favorite licks in the whole song starts at 6:35 and to the end of the solo.

Well there are actually quite a few... Knopfler has a very typical playing style. You hear a lot of things, but much more is going on. He also plays while singing sometimes. An other thing he does is playing hard and also that you almost can't hear it. And he is a fingerpicker so there are also a bit more bass notes in it. But realy without the official tabs you couldn't get it completly right. But justins lesson is quite close so it's quite nice!
