  • @sacredjimi

Its not racist, its simply the truth. Mostly mexican and chinese americans or non americans built the mine. Most of the time they were the majority. The anglos were also incredibly racist and segregated the workforce, because of course this is the 1920-40s. Long story short, Bisbee is now filled with hippies and has large gay pride festivals and old people.

  • Bisbee was the most RACIST town anyone can ever imagine. From some teachers down to the students and shop keepers. The Mexican-American students sat in the back rows of the classroom. I was told "Don't speak Spanish or the "WHITE GUYS" won't date you. Can you imagine? The Mexicans ARE Caucasian (Spain is a European country!!) Serviving there was hell. Song should be "Town Without Pity." Thank God it is now a FREE SPIRITED village.

  • Lovely video of my hometown and the home of my children. Bisbee was very racist when I grew up there. There were certain teachers that belittled the Mexican culture and labled the Mexican's "Mongolians". Mexicans ARE WHITE! They are of Spanish/French/Irish descent and also Middle Eastern (Semetic). They are a mixture of the greatest civilizations. Today, racism is reappearing but Bisbee has become more tolerant. Thank God as we are ALL of the HUMAN RACE! Thanks for the video and memories.

  • Muel?

  • The mexican american community made that town thrive through mining. Whites mostly paid them and had "mining degrees" to be miners when they did mine, but the mexican americans and the other minorities dug that mine.

  • Yeah yeah, that's why the town accross the border is named Naco. Do you know what a naco is? It is a mexican who leaves his home to work in another town. And the "other minorities" were the Irish and chinese. And I don't think that they were mexican americans, they were mojados.

  • Mexicans used their BURROS to carry water and wood into the mine...the original Mexican families like the Carvajals, Acunas, Andrades, Silvas, ect. arrived in Mexico on the Santa Catalina in the 1500's. to escape the Spanish Inquisition. They were higly educated from noble families in Portugal and Spain. These "crypto" Jews later married Native women (although some were burned at the stake by the monks in Mexico City) THE FIRST COWBOYS WERE THE CONQUISTADORES!

  • They Were Dictators-----when a the Shaft Where a Hundred Pima Men were Working--------No-One Made Effort to Get Them!!!!!!!!!!Phelps Dodge Sold this Mess to Another Co. as Powerful as Any State-----We Breathe Their {Poisin--I Do Hate Them!!!! Apache-_-Sky

  • I am not sure of the exact date Mexican were allowed to FINALLY work in the mines. Most of the early miners were Irish and Serbian, as what photos reveal. The Mexicans remained land owners and were mostly ranchers, having married Native American women, (Apache or Yaqui). The Serbians contributed greatly to Bisbee, but feared the Mexicans due to the fact the Mexicans were Roman Catholics. The Mexicans could not attend the Irish Catholic St. Patricks but had their own "Sacred Heart". (Sad to say)

  • I love Bisbee so it's a treat to see it
