@MRszunyitube Thanks very much! Indeed, the C64 skills were used in this project, tight loops, fast and unbloated code. The software runs off a normal PC, it's grabbing 1-2% off my i3 Laptop CPU. There's no need to dual boot really, just you connect your PC directly to the board (using the Console Data port). Thanks for writing!
I am running and d8b in my studio and would like the chance to be a beta tester. I use Cubase sx3 and have a firepod outboard converter. Let me know if you need a tester.
This is what happens when mackie ignores there customers needs. like they say THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT. Any idea when the beta will be ready for testing,i have 3 mackies sitting in the corner doing nothing but gathering dust. was goingto sell them but then i found you.
1) For now, there's no audio going thru the D8B. It is planned for the future, but it's even more work (reverse engineering). I can't promise, but it's been requested a lot. :)
2) Again, no audio is going thru the D8B. You'll need to use your outboard converters.
3) Two to three weeks, we're beta testing right now.
4) Price point should be 350$ all included. We're talking Software + Custom Control Wire + Shipping.
mark maybe a dum question but will effect cards and d the worldclock card still work i have connected the d8b to 2 mackie 400f firewire interfaces and use these effects if these effects don't work i can sell them cos i like ur automation
well if it would work that would be great i want to switch to mac cubase will work on that to i think this is a great console and it schould be used again upgrade is the magic word
@Stage5Entertainment it should they both use the same control surface templates...the question is will it work on the Other guys... Logic, Pro Tools, Abelton Live....or will be it be just Steinberg....
@aljamesproductions The model of my d8b is the very first one with the old Pentium 133mhz computer. The metal fader is a little upgrade I did just for fun/looks. They're not touch write. The software will be released real soon, I'm still polishing for prime time use!
Hey Marc, thanx for the update. Will there be any use of the On-Board DSP or possibility to use the the D8B as summing Mixer for 24Channels of DAW out.
@BobGavin999 Not planned for now, the DSP is a whole other story, I might try to do some stuff with it, but the board being something like 15 years old, it doesn't make much sense to me as modern computers can do way more processing than any of those old boards... It could be fun to have the monitor section but will it sound any good? Is it worth all the effort? I'm still thinking about it...
@ZapperKhorus OK, DSP- understood. But the Monitor Section really is important. And summing done in the D8B sending the Mastersignal out via SPDIF / AES would be outstanding.
HOW CAN I DO THAT WITH MINE WHICH SOFTWARE WILL I NEED?

Hi guys!
I just wondered what the oldtimer programmer can do (C64 hehe)
I think the Mackie will call You to be employee :)
Feature idea: make this software in Dual boot with assigned button on console.
So or runing as oldscool D8B (i like it anyway the original) or boot up as "Mar(c)ie" Controller
350USD is not so mutch for that option. I will buy it!
We also have other project to extend Onyx 1640i to extremlee patchable digital I/O,16 AUX and 16 mixeable monitor outputs:)))

Hey Mark, a couple of questions for you.....
1) Will the monitoring section be working ?
2) Any chance of bussing stems of real audio out to insert my Outboard via my AIO (Analog In/Out)?
2 ) When will your SW be ready?
2) Have you set a rough pricepoint already?
3) Are you looking for Beta Testers?
Thanx.
