for those who say she was underage, fyi, asians naturally younger than caucasians. you guys might want to compare pictures of random people at a particular age. and for the height part, she has been carrying weights (probably even heavier that herself) at a very young age (around 4). that would naturally stunt her growth.

@girolle01 Because she trains eight hours a day, every day. Doing so delays puberty. Yes, musculoskeletally and yes, hormonally. This is why many elite gymnasts appear to kind of "explode" after they quit gymnastics.

@girolle01 PART 1: Not possibly. Definitely. Some gymnasts go through puberty and come out fine, like Nastia Liukin or Aliya Mustafina. Some even come out better, like Beth Tweddle or Ariella Kaeslin. There are even some who have children and are able to come back to the sport afterward (well, just the one, really). It is possible for a gymnast to get through puberty well. But many gymnasts are never the same.

@girolle01 PART 2: Daria Elizarova, Ksenia Semyonova, Yang Yilin-haven't been near the level they were at a couple years ago, before puberty. And it's impossible to predict how a gymnast's body will cope. It's easier to keep her training and from gaining any weight, especially if the Olympics are in sight, than allow her to grow and risk losing her altogether.

it was suppose to be Jiang Yuyuan on the Vault but she got injured so Deng Linlin took her place just in the last minute. Deng did a great job!

Actually, they didn't use Jiang's vault because she had some technical problems with it...so they couldn't afford to use her on the team finals...

I heard JYY had the vault, but couldn't do it well because she was suffering an elbow injury. So, yeah, they couldn't afford to use her. At least, that's what I heard.

Deng was born on April 21th, 1992! She looks young does not mean that she is underage. Sloan, Sacromoni, and Memmel all look like over 30, but this does not mean that they are over 30! Asians usually look younger for americans. Another Chinese gymnast Yuyuan Jiang is actually older than Shawn Johnson. Jiang's 17th birthday was on Nov. 1, 2008 and she will be 18 years old by Nov. 2009! Face it, some fat losers!

no one knows who is going to london yet. i don't think china has had their "trials" yet. right now, if i had to guess, i'd say it's jiang yuyuan and huang quishuang for the all around, he kexin for ub and then one more person to do bb, fx, and maybe vt...the likely choice is cheng fei, but i think she is injured, so my guess is deng linlin
