How would a tool like this perform with a curtained lock. Would the tensioner move the curtain, allowing the tang to interact with the levers? or would the curtain prevent the tang from manipulating the levers?
@hateshiganaikurayami - you would need a curtain pick for curtained locks. The curtain is there specifically to make picking with a regular 2in1 type picks nigh on impossible.

Do you ever have to file down the tangs on these tools to accompdate different thicknesses of levers.

You need to file them down to accommodate the keyway (ie. warded/short keyways), but lever thicknesses tend to be the same from lock to lock.
