Guy, isn't it the first Death Metal scream ever? My lad, there's no bad Floyd song. This is what a band is all about: imagination, color, no laziness, well selling, however not comercial. Great lyrics and great melody. This is historical, a symbol of human criativity. Long live Good Music!
I used to be a huge death metal head, and I still love death metal to death (haha) but I have to admit... Roger Waters' scream in this song is the most brutal, dramatic, emotionally terrifying scream I've ever heard.
i have a vhs tape of this version and a dvd format of the directors cut version and i have to say the original is the best.all the space images on directors just dont fit in right.the roman art sequences are so great.ive always thought of it as very artistic, well done cinematography .
In my opinion, this is the best version/performance of "Careful". My favorite part is the well executed crescendo that begins at around 2:45, which completely explodes into an all-out jam at 3:24. Notice how everyone is really at the top of his game in this video: Dave's (obvious) mastery of the guitar, Rick adding incredible keyboards, Nick tearing up the drums, and Roger's bass. Roger, in particular, adds a very prominent bass contribution to this song, I think.
Did anyone notice Roger Waters get an electric shock from his microphone at around 5:17? I have probably seen this video dozens of times and have never noticed it until now lol.
@Kylev2 I think Pompeii's version is better, because of the video. Both are awesome, but I prefer this one instead of Ummagumma's, cuz' it is slower and Waters's scream scares the hell out of me.
wonderfull guys

Personally,I like early Floyd more than later Floyd. That early period is so experimental,so strange,so good,so powerful.....

I tried making a cover for this.
Five minutes later, I came to the realization that I need to be a superhuman to recreate something like this.
