@zoropesa Yet another person trying to be a smartass, but doesnt actually know what he's talking about. Yes, I'm talking about you. Check the power and torque curves of this engine. Moderns diesels have power trough their entire RPM range. New diesels rev to or over 5000 rpm easily, and most of them reach peak power near or above 4500 rpm. Besides, this 335d is an automatic, so its shifting gears at exactly right moment and exactly right rpm to be as fast as possible.
@derbigpr500 wow thank you for informing me......i had not known that they had improved diesels that much. I could not find a reliable graph but i looked on bmw's website and this is what i got: "Nominal output hp/rpm 265/4200" and the "Max. torque lb-ft/rpm 425/1750-2250" and yes about the smartass thing.....yeah i did not know, oh well
@APACA are you fucking stupid? I know you said 0-62 (0-100KMH). I said 0-60 MPH which means the 0-62 speed is even quicker. Where do you get your figures? I'll tell you something else...... BMW published figures are generaly slower than what they actually do! Next you'll tell me my 335i was 6 seconds and and my e60 m5 was 5 TO 62 MPH(100 KPH).... clueless.
@dalesteel youre the one who's fucking stupid,how 0-60 MPH means the 0-62 speed is even quicker?lol.The 335d is not 5.5s.Source:Edmund:0-60(96km/h) 5.9s,so 0 to 62mph(100Km/h) is about 6.1- 6.3s.Source:Essaie-auto: 0-62mph(100km/h) 6 s.Source motortrend: 0-60(96km/h) 5.8s so 0-62mph(100km/h) 6.0-6.2s.
@APACA The 335i I had was listed at 0-60 MPH - 5.5 Sec. Yet It was quicker than the E46 M3 0-60 on test which was 0-60 in 5.2. You honestly dont know what your talking about. The 335d will do 0-60 in 5.5 sec easliy I am quite sure about that.
Sure the 335d is fast and is a great car,and where I live there are a lot of bmw and I love Bm and most of them are diesel,I know the 335d,this car is a beast, but believe me the 0 to 60 is around 5.8-6.0 s(6.1-6.3 s 0-100km/h).And I heard about the road test where the 335i beat the e46 m3,but it was just one test.Check the european 335i and 335d road test and youll see more than 6 s for the 0-62(100km/h) and the 335i is faster than the 335d.
@APACA I know the 335i is faster, but I have raced a 335d with it, and there was nothing between them in the scheme of things. The 335i was almost as quick as my M5 to 100 MPH.
bliksem! that diesel belts! use the steptronic to shift at power peak, and it will go even better. I had a 330d with a manual box, excellent car, it's important with a diesel not to rev past peak power, coz all your power sits low down. excellent car mate! enjoy!
335d 286hp and 580Nm. you can pay 350euros for a remaped and it will have 330hp and 670Nm ;) ....ive done this with mine, i just love it! anyway the new 330d its also amazing, has 245hp and after a remaped something like 290hp...and the fuel consumption is great!
@stoeptegel50 The 335D is 3lt twin turbo engine. with 286BHP standard. Don't think the A5 has that power? I have an audi 2.5TDI and startin to dislike audi, so many problems with it.
@SebDoheny Audi puts in VW engines and sells the car for twice as much.. Audi is for idiots... I have a VW Passat and the only place my car has VW written on it is the grill, cause underneeth the hood it's a 2.5 TDI from Audi, and there is not a single place on that engine that has VW written on it.. everywere is written Audi :))))) and it still sucks.. next car will be a BMW, depending on what i will find then, either a 335d or a 335i ...
@demon23ro you keep telling yourself that your passat is an audi, haha stupid VW driver in denial trying to keep up with the big boys. Whats your next bmw? 320d ?!!! LOL!! 118d!!!
@Kraig00 My VW has a 2.5 V6 engine , the same one that was on the Audi A6 2.5 Tdi, and Audi A4 2.5 TDI in the 2000-2004 generation. Just to clarify things, the IDIOT among us is the one that is insulting other people without knowing wtf he is talkin about. I have driven every BMW from 118d, to 135i, to 335i,335d,730d F01, 740i, 750i. And all that on a daily basis (company cars). I never said that my car is good, but right now, it would kick any 320d ass on any road. (tested against a 320d Coupe)
@Kraig00 But it's still way too slow for my taste. The next car, as i said before, in the first message, but i guess you are to much of an ass to notice, will be a 335i or a 335. I think still it would be the 335i.. just cause if the top speed that if it's de-restricted, it would get to 199 MPH on a manual gearbx (and some light modds - chip + exhaust).
The 2.5 TDI is one of the most problematic engines of Audi. And the A5 could own the BMW, but it still being a idiot car. Driving a BMW is pleasure, driving a Mercedes is art, driving a Audi is shit
@diogodiogo002 Thats absolutely nice: Driving a BMW is pleasure, driving a Mercedes is art, driving an Audi is shit! lol
Audi has to learn to build a good rear wheel drive! Maybe you habe a little more traction with quattro on wet streets, but you will never feel the pleasure of "Freude am Fahren!"
@nabeelkubba never compare a used car with a new one. I've seen guys that used to try to destroy the car prior to seling it by racing it to the limit. Think about the repair costs if you buy a used car wich works perfectly at a glance but shows transmision problems in a few months. Or maybe it had been in a crash and it's not perfectly realigned ( here I mean the chasis not the wheels geometry). Excuse my english.
I am currently deciding whether to buy the 335i or 335d.

I know it is a difficult decision...both cars are fantastic! I took the diesel because i like the power from down (Nm) and then you can make a chip-tuning. so my car has now 349 PS and 580 Nm...and I need only 9 liter per 100Km.
But the 335i its a fantastic car. Wait to next year because the facelift with more power will come! I mean the diesel will have than original 306 PS. Thats great! Good luck for your choise!
i am thinking the same thing like u.I just dont like the sound of diesel engine and altough it seems more logical buying the diesel , it wont make me satisfied i guess.
Consumption is not an issue. I do ~9,3L / 100 km mixed (road/city/hard acceleration) on my 335CiA with JB4 chip and it's got over 400 hp and 600 Nm. And also the low rev torque is owesome. But the sounds of a 335i in a tunnel are incredible!
go for the 335i is you have the money to buy a car like that i dont think there will be any problems in paying 3-5$ more on every 100km.. plus with a good ecu remap on the 335i you can get 0-100km/h in less then 5 sec ...and that a super car territory ... racing with m3 or rs4 with a 3L engine .. thats something
