copyright whatever, dont really care either or, but I think the responses you got from people are punishment enough...its pretty similar to the other video, so you just end up looking like a giant douche, excuse my legal jargon
Is Cornell the law school you go to if you can't get into Harvard, Penn, Columbia, Yale, Chicago, Stanford, Boalt Hall, Duke, or UCLA? What is the significance of a 161 LSAT score?
@DarkEyedJunko I agree that it is better to come up with something totally new under the sun. I didn't like Shakespeare's remix of Tristan and Iseult. But, a lot of people seemed to like the Romeo character, even if the Juliet character seemed a bit stilted even by Elizabethan standards.
@jsalaud First, you've got a lot of nerve comparing yourself to Shakespeare. Second, The Tristan/Isolde story is very different from Romeo/Juliet, although they contain similar themes and archetypes. If Shakespeare had used someone else's set, characters and script, with a few modifications here and there, you'd have a point.
Since I keep playing these videos (and seeing the comments)....from the YouTube ToS: "You also hereby grant each user of the Service a non-exclusive license to access your Content through the Service, and to use, reproduce, distribute, display and perform such Content as permitted through the functionality of the Service". In other words, by posting stuff on YouTube, you license it to everyone to do whatever they want with it on YouTube.
You're representing your alma mater well, dwkazzie.
@futureteenidol The original video was actually created with the xtranormal site which explicitly is trying to let people do remix... viz. a bit fat "REMIX" button on every video.
@Khamsin50 The attempt was just to remix the @dwkazzie video on xtranormal because it was well done and inspiring. In fairness, the "desert fleas" line is not particularly original by itself, but perhaps in context. Similarly, even the @dwkazzie is based on many videos before it using the same general setup with the script adapted for the law school context. In art, I guess, nothing new under the sun. :-)
Yes, I am the author of the xtranormal video. I had a different user name on xtranormal. It doesn't matter what you call it. If you use portions of my script without my permission, you are infringing on my copyright. This is what you did. It doesn't matter how you present it, whether you advertised it, or whether you call it a remix. I own the copyright to the Law School script in its entirety. I'm not trying to be a dick, but this script is my property. Please credit me.
@jsalaud Thanks. I don't think I was asking too much. Someone I don't even know asked me about the relation of the two videos today, and I thought it was important that we clear this issue up. I'll consider the matter over and done with.
Buddy, you need to either credit my original "So You Want to Go to Law School" video or take down this video. You've taken large chunks of my original script and passed it off as your own. If this indeed is a "tribute" video, you need to advertise it as such. This is NOT your original work.
Otherwise, I will file a copyright infringement claim with YouTube.
@dwkazzie Ummm... Hopefully you are really the same person who made the original video on xtranormal. The usernames seem different. But, in any case, this video is definitely a REMIX of another video. In no way was this video advertised really at all NOR was it ever "passed off" as anything. I will try to find the original author who has posted to youtube and make this a response video so it is more clear. *facepalm*

It seems like this video was made by an enormous feminist!

Why the ripoff? Why not spend your time coming up with something original instead?

There was enough amazing original material already. Why use material from dwkazzie's script at all? The "desert fleas" line was genius!
