This is the most stupid thing Microsoft has ever done. It's a fucking console/tablet interface. But a PC is a PC. It shouldn't be confined to such a 'dumbed down' chunky interface because you use it with MOUSE and KEYBOARD on a big monitor and it's 1000x more capable than a console/tablet.

What were they thinking?

Modern tablets (!= x86 tablet PCs) are heavily restricted devices, Android a bit less so than iOS/WP7, but still they all need operating systems coded specifically for each ARM SoC, and you can't change ANY hardware. That effectively makes them consoles.

will windows live mesh work accross OS's? if i was to keep my windows 7 laptop and upgrade my W7 desktop to W8 and *then* get a W8 tablet, would i still be able to keep all my data in sync via skydrive? i'm having trouble keeping my documents synced up on my Omnia 7; syncing Mesh doesn't seem to allow me to see on my wp7 skydrive app the files i've recently created on my desktop.

I hate the new dashboard system. It might work well for tablets and phones, but it looks ugly and doesn't seem intuitive without a touchscreen. I'll still with Win7.

I hate how win8 is going the tablet layout way. I hate tablet layouts. I just ant my normal windows layout. Yes windows 8 has that as well. But...then it's basically just win7. So why would anyone want to switch to win8 apart from it being the new thing?

@girlsdrinkfeck Actually, microsoft DOES force you. As in, in the next few years they'll make sure no one can use windows XP effectively with newer software. Then a bit later the same will happen for windows 7. Until you're forced to use windows 8, even if you liked xp/7 better.

people who say windows 8 is gonna be bad it's actually great. You guys obviously don't own or have owned a tablet before. I use to have windows 7 on my and now have 8 beta and its amazing. it's so fast and the touch is great. i can't wait to have the full version later this year.

i can't see all the apps i am running,together on the metro screen,just one by one.to see them all must go to regular dsktp,open task manager-not cool.if i want too have both the dsktp and a app running at the same time,it takes space from the dsktp-not cool.if i want to search in dsktp mode i can't.so i go to metro,then cut/paste go back to dsktp.this ui is directed towards people who only use pc for movies,and internet stuff.despite having the regular dsktp 4 a poweruser it's too messy to work

I love the Metro interface. It's awesome how it shows so much information at one time instead of having to load up individual programs one at a time. I honestly don't understand the hate people are throwing at it, since you STILL get the old Windows interface with additional features on top of all the cool things that 7 added. Are people even watching the entire video?

Microsoft did so well for themselves with windows 7, everyone liked it, it was nice, easy but also has the classic windows feel.

This is the exact same as their shitty Windows Phone 7 OS. Pretty much if I want my PC to be up to date I have to turn my good Windows 7 OS into a shitty cell phone style. Not cool Microsoft. I was okay with the xbox dashboard going this route but they just need to stop, its not an impressive OS at all.
