My heart and prayers go out to the people of Christchurch! it looks like such a nice and peaceful city, so sad to see this happen. Has there been much if any looting? I am glad to hear that no one was hurt of killed though.

It was eruptions and earthquakes that made NZ. It's natural events have made Christchurch such a beautiful (but unstable) place. Maybe God created those events, I dunno. All I know is earthquakes happen. It's got nothing to do with the religions of the people living on the land. Earthquakes happen in areas where no-one lives, explain that. We exist on a living planet, stuff is going to happen, wether we 'pray' or not. We simply need to recognise the threats when we can and be ready.

@korahaplayas Correct. It could have been worse. If people were cooking their breakfast.... Look what happened in Kobe. Half the city was burning, mainly as a result of overturned cooking. In the even of an erathquake it is important for people to ensure the gas and electricty are turned off. If you don't know where it is, then find out now - then you'll know if an earthquake hits.
