His gags are hit and miss for me, i rarely hate a running gag, and the only problems i have is he doesn't do as much varying up in his reviews as he did last year (between having sketches, or letting the films shitiness speak for itself)
Yeah his gags are lame but you should at least give him some credit, he actually knows they suck unlike a certain reviewer with his gags (whom of which bores). Plus I think when he's tearing the titles he's reviewing apart, and his exaggerated reactions to the scenarios are a lot funnier.
The real joke is that you don't realize Phelous was joking, otherwise that scene wouldn't be included in the review. You know, since Doug edited the review and thus chose for this scene to be shown in the video.
It's almost like it's a self-deprecating joke and that you take things 100% face value.

One of the main issues I have here is he's making a lot of money either way (even for a 2 minute video) if the DVD sells or not. If they were special messages don't put ads in them if you want them taken seriously! That annoys me so much knowing that he's trying to inform us but he just made $ off of me.

OH come on I think you guys are being a little harsh on mr critic here. After watching this review I gotta say its pretty damn funny. Him teaming up with Phealous was great and while NC has overused some jokes here and there there's only so much material you can work with without treading the same ground. Besides when exactly was the last time he used the ghost? I don't even remember I honestly don't think the quality of his reviews have lessoned and in fact are getting funnier.

So I decide to check out one of his vids & there's an in-joke he's clearly referencing called "its not fucking pop tarts". I did not find it funny, and i don't believe i would've found it funny to begin with had I seen the original video he first debuted it in. There is a review site called Red Letter Media that does character reviews using a geriatric serial killer character called Mr Plinkett as the mouthpiece for the reviews - to be honest I have found them quite funny, especially the Star Trek and Star Wars Ep I - III stuff. I'd wager what you hate isn't characters but just annoying shit that is there to be annoying - like squealing. Fuck squealing and ear rape. Seriously.

As far as the site, I will admit, my favorite contributors tend to be the ones who use the less characters; Todd in Shadows, Brad Jones (he does characters but it isn't overwhelming or annoying like some of the others), etc. Still, you are right, when the reviews basically revolve around goofy characters it is pretty annoying.

I really enjoy Brads videos, he is the only one i know of who can resist cameos every video, his videos are the closest thing to real reviews on the whole site, he loves old movies and loves talking about them, it clearly shows. He deserves better
@DFLOODyeaa You miss the entire point of his reviews. Their meant to entertain not decide if the movies bad for you or not. Wether you think the movies are bad or not should be irrellevent to the quality of the review.

@rockworm503 from the beginning (& seeing it confirmed in videos of panels he's spoken at) I've picked up on Walker "exaggerating" in order to make his reviews entertaining. It goes without saying that he doesn't hate every movie he reviews. But it seems he's reviewing flicks he genuinely hates because he can. Moulin Rouge for example. What nostalgia is to be found in that? its past his cutoff date. I know he makes exceptions from time to time, but 40 minutes? that half the length of his movies.
@Y2Badr I'm not looking to argue this. Doug's routine has worked on me (maybe i'm easily amused /shrug) but the Moulin Rouge review is a perfect example of him mixing it up. That was Nostalgia Chick's review as much as it was his. All music with might I add pretty clever songs they threw in there and at the end it was all about bad movies being guilty pleasures. God knows I like the occasional bad movie but I'm not about to say NC sucks for reviewing just because i liked it.
