One of my closest friends while, living in Orlando, worked for Scenic at WDW. He showed me pictures of the inside of the plane when it was opened up right before they moved it to its new location.
The inside had been taken over by a mold. So they sealed the windows from the inside using plywood (wearing breathing apparatuses) so that there would not be a chance that the mold would be visible from the outside.
The plane has not been painted or maintained from the outside since it was last moved.
I saw this airplane come into Klamath Falls, Oregon, back in the early/mid 70's. The Disney's had a ranch in the area. Very nice plane---but the Rolls Royce Dart turboprops were pretty loud when you got close to it.
I personally flew in the plane for a Company promotion... for a month - a different city every day, weekends off. The plane was comfortable and efficient. The exterior paint job has been updated. I am so grateful for the opportunity.
As a retired airline pilot, the Gulfstream 1 is an excellent aircraft!
Mr. Disney certainly had a great business sense and his taste in aircraft was excellent too! He was a wonderful man who influenced children all over the world and made their lives happier through his efforts!
Yes, he has been missed but we know that he is making other children even happier in the world yet to come!
