  • that is pretty good for the 3.4 for sure! (stock is 190HP) but that engine does pull, i drove a taco with one thinking it would be slow.

  • lol 7 seconds to 60 is fast for just about anything but a supercar

  • 3.4L or 2.7L? 5 speeds?? SC or not?

  • ahhh more like 10 seconds man.....

  • @drgoodspd count from when acceleration.

  • @hvguy then its not 0 -60

  • didn't start from 0 and it was more like almost 9 seconds

  • What did you do this on a dyno or something? haha

  • Check my vids out, I've got a 92 4runner that a Toyota master tech did a 3.4 swap on. It's got an Injen intake and Magnaflow exhaust maybe I'll get some vid of how fast mine runs, we suspect it pushes around 200hp, and run about 18mpg on average, even when I drive like an asshole!

  • ever considered a diesel swap? or investing in bigger cams and a new engine management?

  • that was pretty quick for the little 3.4 and a big SUV

  • I'm sorry to act like a troller but I have a 2003 V8 4runner and if you were going to spend the money to mod a 4runner, shouldn't you just bet one with a better engine to start with? P.S. My 4runner gets 0-60 in around six seconds... and around 16 mpg. Lolz

  • indeed building a bigger engine is the better way to go, but back in the day, that was the biggest engine for that chassis. But Mine gets a casual 22mpg highway and 18 city. With mods.

Have you seen the new 4runners? They replaced the V8 with a V6.... cause it makes more power lol, I think it has dual VVTI and some other bells and whistles. None the less, I wouldnt mind swapping one into my chassis for pulling power and the manual tranny.

  • True, but did they really? Bah, I* remember the days of towing large trailers with my* 4Runner.(Before parents got F-150).

*In those days I was not the one towing/Not really my 4Runner. Lol

  • @hvguy They need to put the new 4.6 in with the 4.0l being the base engine again. The 4.6 has like 315hp and 320lb ft. But I LOVE the new runners.

  • @Motorfordtoyota omg, the 4.6 is crazy! I like the sort of box-style the new 4runner has..

im really disappointed that the new runners dont come with a diesel option..

  • that was more like 8.5 seconds

  • got a pic or vid of your intake?

  • It sound beautiful, specially when he shifts to second gear. I am a big fan of the 5vzfe because it is as good as a 2jz

  • 3vzfe is better imo then the 5vz but cant touch the 2jz

  • I don't get what you meant. But I am not talking crazy imaginations of my mind. Research it on wikipedia, and you will find that , in fact, toyota created an engine that rivaled their already high performance 2jz on accident. Thus, they had to de-tune the 5vzfe

  • thats under the 3vzfe " In an embarrassing move, Toyota inadvertently created an engine competing with the more performance oriented 7M-GE (200 hp) and 2JZ-GE (225 hp) installed in sportier, more luxurious cars of the time" like i said i think the 3vzfe is better then the 5vz.

  • i wouldnt want the extra displacement so i can use my extra rev range. the 3vz-fe has plenty of torque. making it a 3.4 just turns it into a stump puller with no rev range. just bottom end torque. sound famillar?

  • @bdub215 no way, the 3vz had trouble with head gaskets, not mentioning the very low power and the laziness.

  • i know about the headgasket problem, but power and laziness? what do you call very low power? 185hp crank + timing and ecu mods gives it 200hp. thats still around 160ish to the wheels. and my es300 is far from lazy

  • @Renatubie Fuck you, Jeep Cherokee owns all the 3.4 and POS 3.0 4runners from it's time. It gets better mpg by the EPA, is 1/4 ton lighter, is a helluva lot quicker and a hellua lot cheaper to repair, theyr'e reliable as fuck too(Toyota is very reliable, not knocking on the 4runner besides the 3.0 head gasket issues).

  • @98MAzdaMilleniaS What are you thinking you are doing by opening an argument with an insult?!!! What is the subject in this video? Did I talk about brands? Who are you trying to convince by talking about Cherokees? You were not even specific about Cherokee engines. I don't think you are talking about jeep's 4 cylinders or even the 2.7 v6, are you?

I get it. I happen to happen to have 10 likes, and you want to come and brag about your SUV. Your comment sounds more like a cry for attention.

  • @Renatubie 95% of the cherokees on the road have the 4.0 Inline 6(produced from 88-01). 3% have the 2.5 liter inline 4 and the other 2% are the 2.7 V7(produced from 84-87 only). The 1997-1999 Cherokee is the most reliable years.... I just bought a 99 Classic with 120k miles on it and my friend's is a 97 with 335k miles on it(original trans, engine, NOT leaking oil, etc.).

  • @Renatubie I wanted a real SUV, that rides like an SUV, off-roads like an SUV, yet handles and has some of the on road driving dynamics like a car. The 4runner is the Camry version of a real SUV, it's all soft and quiet and like a big marshmellow, the outside view and blind spots suck.... Plus it handles horribly because of weight and is slow and gets horrible mpg's for how small and weak it's engine is. BOF SUV's have a higher center of gravity and weigh more, resulting in less on road control.

  • I chopped the intake tube between the MAF and the TB about halfway, connected the maf to it, and strapped a K&N directly to the maf

  • Comment removed

  • you dont understand... I did all of those that you speek of, and it did not suit my needs. So I took out everything past the MAF and clamped a K&N directly to the MAF, getting rid of all the resistance.

  • Very quick and, nice.

  • I've got a 98 4speed auto 24v and had a Q45 screaming to catch me in the quarter, a lex 300coup tryin to play catch up after i punched it with etc power button turned on and the newer lex suv's doing the same. I pump only 93 tex in it keep up with oil changes and always run a can of restore with the change and it runs like new.

  • must be an awesome 4runner. I really miss mine. Check some of my vid out of my pathy

  • MINOR mods??? stock runs 9.5 sec 0-60 so ur car must be tuned up nicely. looks heavily modded to me

  • just intake, just put new head gaskets on and cleaned the intake. It was a bit gummy.

  • i have a 2000 3.4l 4runner that runs almoust the same time and 9.5 seconds is probably the 4 cylinder

  • the 4Runners got redesigned and got newer, much more powerful engines for 03. I recently got an 07 4Runner with a V6 and it pulls under 7 sec 0-60 on a cool day

  • no 9.5 is stock..i had a 99 and may best was 9 seconds...u must have like a manual or something.

  • Nice 2nd gear chirp!

  • thanks-after I get a new car, im hopefully going to go turbo

  • nice that thing is way faster then my bone stock one.

    What other mods beside S/c?

  • No S/C, all engine.

  • what is done to it? lighten up the truck? 2wd or 4wd? Is it 5spd or auto with a shift kit?

  • Manual 5 speed, 4x4, V6

Cold air intake/shorty. Thinner HG. Thats all.

  • wow!

i have a 95 tacoma with the 5VZ-FE V6 and yours is suprisengly faster?

what all have you done to yours?

  • My mom had a 95 with the v6 and it was slow as hell but I loved it.

  • yeah but u can beat the hell out of it and it would still drive good

  • IF its an auto, those are especially hard to move, not sure why

  • Nice bro! I took the engine out of my 95 4runner and I am totally rebuilding it

  • surprisingly, they are easy to rebuild.

  • did you bother reading any of the other comments?!? I clearly explained that mroe than once

  • You people dont understand the 4runner at all, I have a 2002 Limited edition 4x4 4Runner Stock engine. Weighs in at 4000 pounds! and only with 183hp stock with a v6 DOHC 206 Cubic inch, That thing has balls i dont care what anyone says sure it wont win races stock but.... upgrade engine parts and watch out....

  • exactly,

I try to explain that to people, but nobody understands it.

They think-Vtech, its fast. Or a little sports car is quick from the factory.

ive got a short-ram cold air intake, ThinLine filter, straight exhaust, and im about to get headers.

    thanks for the reply

  • 10 seconds

  • I was turning out of my neighborhood, so there was a lag time in the starting

  • and? its still 10 seconds redardless, post a new video of it in a straight linedoing 7 seconds

  • ok, Ill possibly be going to the track next weekend. Ill see what I can get

  • count it from the sounds of takeoff

  • LOL it chirped. Nice vid & truck.

  • thanks =) just bought a toyota starlet yesterday, can't drift the 4runner so well. Should be a nice project.
