Why do you think that Germans moan? We have no reason, we are a wealthy nation. We have learned!

if its a myth that londoners sheltered in the underground then what are all those films, photos, and oral histories. Are loads of people lying? for what reason?
Poor choice of music for a Tragedy! Why don't the British see the connection of this Tragedy and one event 23 years earlier?
The British Naval blockade killed 750,000 German civilians in the winter of 1917. Do you think that they could forget that?
Besides, all war is for profit of the likes of the Rothchilds, Rockfellers and the global elite. R.I.P. to the citizen slaves of all the world killed by the REAL BASTARDS!
@marinello6 Its a perfect choice of music its what was listened to at the time if you listen to the words you will see that they are about the Blitz and the war hoping it will all end soon.
@marinello6 Also it was the British who started bombing German cities so in response the Germans then switched to bombing British cities, before that the Germans wouldn't even touch British cities.
@IceRich05 I just wish that people would stop blaming civilian deaths and war in the lap of the people. After being in the U.S. for so many decades, I see that the people are good but are brainwashed that they are 'Free'. Right now so many are suffering and even dying at the hands of our President...."The Corporation". We even have "Dead Peasant" insurance on workers...google it.
The British people have trouble putting WW2 in perspective. Only the educated bother to look at WW1.
@marinello6 Kaiser Wilhelm killed those 750,000 German civilians when he talked Franz Joseph into attacking Serbia, knowing Russia would back up the Serbs.
@marinello6 The Kaiser could have made peace and saved his people from starvation. The British, French, and Russians weren't going to put Germans in concentration camps in 1917.
@ryeseagull Make peace? Austro-Hungary declared war on Serbia after they would not meet certain terms after the assassination of Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria, and his wife, Sophie, Duchess of Hohenberg in Sarajevo, by Gavrilo Princip, one of a group of six Bosnian Serb assassins coordinated by Danilo Ilić. Then Russia declared war on Austro-Hungary. Germany was an ally of Austro-Hungary. Then England declared war...what do they teach in school nowadays? Camps in 1917? WTF?
@ryeseagull The King of England was first cousins with Wilhelm but choose to side with his other cousin Nicki of Russia. Then the Bolsheviks killed Nicki. King George V and Queen Mary were devastated. Do you read anything or do you just come up with stupid statements? Read about people and things before you make a comment. One of my grandfathers fought in the German army because he had to. He helped raise me and hated war. My grandmother was a teen and she almost died. Think!
@badgetheradge 1. britain didnt turn peacefull after ww2 and 2. it doesnt just have to be a war between britain and germany to be a world war it can be between anyone
Hull was nearly as worse. They got bombed from 1940 to 1945 with 95% of the buildings destroyed or damaged and nearly 200,000 civilians from hull made homeless. It was also the last british town to be bombed by manned aircraft.
My mother, and my grandparents, lived through this. My mother dodged gunfire from a Luftwaffe fighter while returning from school; schoolfriends down the road were killed in an air air-raid when their house was incendiary-bombed.
And, yes, there was unimaginable suffering on both sides. Germans did not choose to be Germans, let alone choose to be Nazis, just as we in Britain had no choice but to be British. Ordinary Dresdeners and Berliners also suffered greatly in a senseless and brutal war
Stop sending Illegals over to the USA. Soon there will be orders to shoot to kill. NO more drug lords, gangs, contraband, drugs, illegal gun running, smuggling, ect.
@1STACCS What do you mean "we"? YOU didn't do anything, you're just some guy sat at his computer flaming the British on YouTube. @chrishutchison Thank you for reminding people that most people want to be left alone in peace. The U.S. occupation of Iraq and Afghanistan are not shown in the news because the U.S. military learned from Vietnam not to show the true reality of conflict. I remember the news coverage of Vietnam, that is why we left. We have been in Afghanistan longer than any other place because there is no coverage that reflects reality. Media is privately owned and in bed with the big boys; not kinky!
it is TOTALLY unjust to blame an entire nation for the decisions of a handful of people in the second world war. Soldiers fighting for Germany were doing exactly the same as soldiers fighting for Britain... they may not have even believed in with what they were fighting for, but they had no option.

Im not denying that on occasion small numbers used the Underground. But dont be fooled into thinking that the Tube was used by the majority, frequently, just on the basis of a few film reels. It was good for propaganda at the time (for numerous reasons) and is now so much part of the national culture a lot of the legend is ambiguous to say the least.
Historians like Noakes, Connelly and Calder are good to read if you are looking for a more accurate depiction of 'the Blitz'.
@jbmilitarycollector I totally agree, my nan lived near to what is now bethnal green, she had 7 children, some of them during the war. She has photos of this which i have seen, and i can tell you that it does not look like a holiday camp. Attack the British psyche if you want, many have tried. and failed.
@frankophille Of course we slept in the Tube stations during the Blitz - between the ages of six and twelve I lost count of the number of nights I spent on the platform of Turnpike Lane station.....not only in the Blitz, but also during the V1 and V2 Flying bomb raids later in the war.
@frankophille This is just another example of contreversies that have plagued our modern day society. Why don't you do some REAL research before you make assumptions about things that you hardly know anything about?

I have no idea of what you are saying.
However,i think i speak for the UK,when i say, thank you to Winston Churchill, for guiding us through one of the most traumatic times in our history.
Thank you Winston, and our brave allies, that includes Poland,,and all the brave men and women, who died in the fight against the evil that was Hitler.Rule Brittania,God save the Queen.
Sad video about London, the city that would not die. My dear Father lived through the bombing of London in WWI, which was bad enough but 22 years later the Fatherland was at it again with much greater ferocity. "Perverted science as Churchill called it. How terrifying for the citizens.
So what just because the British were more accurate that makes them more accountable?, if the Nazi's had inflicted heavier casualties to the British population they would of shrugged it off believe you me.
Not only that but imagine the psychological anguish knowing that any moment a bomb could be dropped on you, this went on for months on end stuff like that can make people become insane.
true, but the nazi bastards started it, what did the innocent britsh civilians do to deserve that. thats whats the worst about war, only the innocent suffer, the soldiers, civilians, jews never the people who caused it like hitler.
your brains can produce weapons to kill innocent people in Dresden / Hamburg / Irak !!! what a shame on you ,, think that god gave us this power of brain to live in peace and preserve people from dying ! not for killing !
My grandfather used to live in London during WWII he would always expect his house to explode from a bomb. His father was fighting in North Africa during that time so aint so good. It gets worse he was sent up NOrth into the countryside because he was a kid. They did that to keep future generations alive.
London and Coventry have become iconic of the Blitz. However cities like Liverpool, Birmingham, Belfast, Manchester, Sheffield, Bristol, Plymouth and a number of others also suffered badly.
This is especially beautiful when you watch it with addition sound effects like explosions or fires. Behind all the chaos, you can still hear the hopeful voices singing. Even in terrible times like these, humanity will always pull through.

Sad video about London, the city that would not die. My dear Father lived through the bombing of London in WWI, which was bad enough but 22 years later the Fatherland was at it again with much greater ferocity. "Perverted science as Churchill called it. How terrifying for the citizens.

more died in Dresden on one night of british bombing than the entire Blitz: let's not forget that thousands of innocent German civilains died as well

Britain got a horrific beating, but we did it in the end. RIP to all those who lost their lives.
RachHaha 3 years ago
yes we did ,but our brain can produce greater wapons than the German, so we could beat them ha ha ha

your brains can produce weapons to kill innocent people in Dresden / Hamburg / Irak !!! what a shame on you ,, think that god gave us this power of brain to live in peace and preserve people from dying ! not for killing !
