Don't think those are PAFs on a '64. They stopped shipping PAFs in 61. Sorry to be a pedant, but I have a 64 SG lefty and mine has standard Gibson machine wound humbuckers with the wrong pat. number sticker on the underside. Bet that geetar does too.
This is probably exactly what the Stones used in the studio for their early '70s albums. Keith has said in plenty of interviews that he loves small Fender Princeton and Champ amplifiers for studio work. With some proper studio EQ, it can basically sound like any huge amp.
hey, I've also got a princeton, but I want to add some distortion to the mix. Are you using any pedals or effects in this video? Cause you've got a great overdrive tone.
Does the Sg standard sound similar, because i;m in the market for one, but i'd like to hear it clean before i get one, But everybody does these damn ACDC covers,
just go play one..you have to take in account that this guitar is 45 years old, that is 45 years of aging of the wood and electronics giving it a woody tone and the PAF pickups have also aged giving them less bite.
i agree people tend to play SGs with way too much distortion on them the humbuckers have such a rich tone its a waste to drown it out in a wall of shit and fuzz
that is the EXACT way i feel..dont get me wrong a little distortion is fine but NOT when pile it on so you can sound "good" and not be able hear when you fuck up.
In which case your previous comment doesn't make that much sense, piling on the amount of the distortion so that you would not hear what you play, would not sound good to anyone.
Different styles of music call for different types of amps and levels of distortion. If i've interpereted you wrongly as one of those who doesn't like modern guitar styles and tries to downplay the level fo skill required play genres such as fast metal and the such i apologise.
i think the dude can play, he's not absolutely mind blowing but there aren't a ton of people who are, he's got some decent ideas and i think if he played with a click track or maybe a little backing music just too keep him from going all over the place it would be quite the video. metal might be fun, but get over yourselves, its hardly musical. keep it bluesy.

An anxious dude,ah? Watching the you tubeinbox compulsively, don´t you?Ask your doctor, you are getting bald.Take some guitar lessons. You are not talented at all.
Actually, I find his lead work quite good. It's just improvisation, and it makes perfect sense as he incorporates more of a blues kind of style to it. Maybe you're just unfamiliar to different genres of music, considering the fact you can't even spell "rhythm" properly.
I gotta give you alot of credit as you seem to use your hands to get sounds your after instead of relying on pedals and effects like alot of players now a days. old schools is the way
that is my favorit guitar ... i have a les paul standert and it goos like hell but there is nothing that looks bethere then that gibson sg ure wealding. god dame that one sounds awesome.
WOW! A '61 RISSUE WITH THE VIBROLA! Aweasome playing too. Hey, just a question, does the vibrola terrible? Because I hear many people say it is, but I think it adds a more vintage look to the SG.
Man, what's it like to play a 64 SG? That guitar is what dreams are made out of.
agbasp 1 week ago
@agbasp It was very enjoyable to play that guitar. I wished I could've taken it home with me! It had very low action and played almost effortlessly.
