  • nice slideshow... but this is not peart playing drums, this is john rutsey... :)

  • Thank You!

  • My god. I've found it. My mom would blast this song in the car when I was younger. I remember being afraid of Alex's rift. That was 11 years ago.

  • AWESOME LOUD!!!

  • WARNING NEIL PEART was not the drummer on the first LP...this was the work of John Rutsey...

  • 3:05 is it me or does neil peart look an AWFUL lot like tim curry?

also what the flying hell is up with 0:50 and 0:54.

  • Anybody else hear a bit of "Spirit of Radio" at 3:10?

  • sofa king awesome : ) nice job on the slides'!

  • these guys are the best hard rock band of all time simply because they were all about the music. no theatrics, no glam, no BS, nothing but one kick ass song after another. intelligent lyrics, wonderful songs. these guys were beyond regular musicians. they were craftsmen. man for man in terms of writing, vocals and especially musicianship, nobody holds a candle to the canadian masters of rush.

  • I know where my road leads. Gets me that i sit to wither on the presence of those whom sit waiting for me to die and come to them, in spirit. If they had had heart the spirit would not have sacrificed innocent children and lifeless righteous man. For without consolation in suffering and loss, there is equal reward in Heaven. I wish no thrown, and learned to not judge man. Fair balance. throw the book away, to just that. Nothin is fast enough, when nothin is all you get. Oh well, alls well.

  • just love that lead!!!!

  • good work! *****

  • The only thing Canada has produced that was worth a crap. Rush rules!

  • @emonster2001 Triump(Rock Band, Neil Young, and I believe Crosby Stills and Nash

  • Very well done. Thank you.

  • John Rutsey was the Drummer who played Working Man on this album before Neil replaced him on the secord album.

  • God, you gotta love the way they just jam during the middle of this song. Fucking brilliant!

  • Great Job with the pics man

  • THANK YOU for posting this.

I haven't seen most of this pix.....

    Great Job

  • friggin killer

  • RUSH - "WORKING MAN"

  • Best Band on this planet.

  • Why does classic rock radio ignore so many outstanding classics (like this one)? If it hadn't been for the new Rush documentary, I don't think I would have ever heard it.

  • Awesome song and awesome pics, great post

  • Thumbed up and pushed over to my facebook page. :P

  • The Best band ever! Canadian rock professionals.

  • Two of my favorite basses Jeddy lee & Chris Squire from Yes ...

  • well they call me the working man.... i guess thats what i am.....

  • Rush Rules !!

  • yes, absolutely fantastic montage, I love the song and played it often when it was released back in 1972? or so, thanks for the pictorial history lesson...only comment is that in that particular studio version, the drummer was John Rutsey, not Neil Peart. I assume that there were many pics in the slide show that had John playing drums, but were photos only showing Geddy and Alex. Neil played the song a bit differently, but certainly excellently. I think John died a few years back. THANKS AGAIN!!

  • @doctorgonedon it was in 1974 that this album was recorded and you are right, Peart did not join the band until right before they started touring for this album. Rutsey had health issues and didn't like touring. Bet he's kicking himself now, though!

  • @PizmoBeach1 probably not considering one, he agreed to quit the band and two he is no longer living. not to be a dick saying that btw

  • AWESOME. Great job.

  • I'll bet lazy welfare people don't really care for this song! :P

  • @ministercreek I guess people who love to be a slave thinks this message of this song is to be just a 'workin man'. Come home at 5:00, have a few beers, pass out and do it again so you can pay hefty taxes that goes straight to the international bankers? Is this what life is? You mock those who do not want to be a member of the cycle? Who are the real losers here? I would say it is those who willingly serve the system and give up their lives feeding it, time to rethink?

  • @blite13 Oh, so sitting on your ass all day while the rest of us spend our hard earned money on you because you're to damn lazy to get a job is a good thing? I know the way the system works is fucked up, but sitting on your ass isn't the way to fix it.

  • @GnarGnar47 feeding it isn't the way to fix it either. noncompliance, do not feed the beast.

  • @ministercreek we're all on welfare - its the only thing the West from turning into a third world-esque shithole. Wages, standards of living etc. are all in the shitter.

  • very cool montage - thx

  • Cool pictures.

  • just learned this song, simple yes,....

    lame,...i think not

    excellent,..well i think so

  • We're just a band that likes this kind of music and relates more to the 60's, 70's and 90's than today's music. We're just looking to be heard, if you would actually take the time to listen one of our songs on our channel and comment, we would really appreciated it. Thanks Peace.

  • Great pics, but could you please re-do the video with the pics in chronological order?

    Thanks,

Let me know when it's done...

  • This song may be 35 years old, but it still kicks serious ass! Don't you deny it! \m/

Dude, I want that calendar at 3:42 so badly... :3

*Giggle* And 3:48 is Neil Peart for you: cigarette in one hand and a novel in the other. ^_^

  • I get up at seven, yeah, And I go to work at nine. I got no time for livin', Yes, I'm workin' all the time. It seems to me I could live my life A lot better than I think I am. I guess that's why they call me, They call me the working man. They call me the working man. I guess that's what I am. I get home at five o'clock, And I take myself out a nice, cold beer. Always seem to be wonderin' Why there's nothin' goin' down here

  • what the hell are you trying to say?

  • @JohnnyFriction what the fuck? what does rush have to do with loving black people

  • And to think I hang out with people who think new shit is better than classic music. WTF am I thinking? I need better friends who have a brain. Anybody with a brain (the whole thing) knows that classic is better no matter what the debate is about.

  • No, it's not. That's your opinion, and it's a stupid one at that. Were you even alive when Rush was popular? Because you sound like one of those lame kids I went to high school with who wore "Led Zeppelin World Tour" t-shirts they got at Target.

  • I know a lot of people that like new music more than old it doesn't mean anything just a lot of people of my generation like music from today more than anything else. Does it matter whether I was alive or not then I like good music just all of the artists have been around for at least 7 years nobody from today knows how to play good music. I'd rather go to a concert than buy any shirt.

  • You're right they probably were lame something I can't prove to you that I'm not but I'll say that anybody who thinks they can be cool by wearing a shirt are as lame as anybody can imagine I have one shirt from one concert on March 24 2005 I saw Nine Inch Nails I don't (even wear that shirt/like the band as much as I used to) anymore so don't assume things about people you don't know. I'm a very charismatic person and have a lot of friends around 50 I talk to on a regular basis not my family.

  • Rush is still popular, you stupid elitist prick. His opinion is valid & not stupid. And so what if he wasn't alive when Rush was popular? Great music transcends time.

  • Geddy Lee always has the coolest bass guitars

  • I'm in the photo at 1:26-1:29. That was ME as a teenager at the Rush concert in 1977 in Chicago. I'm the blond kid in the red and blue striped polo shirt and jeans dancing on the riser in front of the stage! LOL! I still have the original photo in my private collection! That was a great show. I think I I had taken some acid before the show and I was stoned to bejeezus!

  • That's extremely cool man. I have searched for Rush pics for years, looking for people I know or myself. I've only recently seen your picture (maybe a year or 2 ago). How did you get the picture?

  • I've had it for years but I forget how it got into my hands. Must have been years ago. I've never seen the photo except in my collection and now in this video. So I was really surprised to see it - and me!

  • Actually now that I think about it, I think this photo was in 1975 or 76 - not 77. Man it's been a long time! Anyway, it was when Rush were a new band in the music scene and were doing smaller venues. And I'm not sure if I had dropped acid before or after the show. I might have just been high. That's the sort of thing you did at rock shows when you were 16 or 17 in the 1970's! Before assigned seating and the crowds were wild. One huge party! Rush were incredible. None better ever!

  • @jgdesign cool!!!

  • @jgdesign lol.......pretty awesome....

  • @jgdesign ddue dont make up crap like that

  • @jgdesign so kick ass..such a great memory to have...and captured..!! so cool..i saw em first time in saginaw mich..in 76 or 7 maybe..haha

  • @jgdesign Sorry, you must have taken the brown acid because that's not Chicago and that's not 1977.

  • love it:)

  • thank you:)

  • Original drummer John Rutsey at his best!

  • Neil Peart and his handlebar mustache! LOL!

  • Wow - where did you get that pic where they're jamming their asses off in front of a crazy mob? @ 1:26 minutes. That's wonderful and hilarious.

  • in some of those pictures Neil Peart looks a lot like Forrest Gump.

  • no. its more like Forest Gump looks like Neil Peart.

  • THE BEST rush song! imo

  • i love you slide show!

  • This band deserves more views!!! Thank you;)

  • your most welcome.
